  1. And she's trying to convince EJ who was brought back to life by the same person
  2. I guess my triggers are uninformed opinions, retweets of dumb social media posts, and the intentional use of poor grammar for humor...
  3. Still not $217, and people can't expect DAYS to be renewed if they download it illegally
  4. I get the humor, but it is totally fallacious The average cost of cable tv is $217 per month (https://money.usnews.com/money/personal-finance/saving-and-budgeting/articles/how-much-is-cable-per-month) Hulu is $7, Netflix is $10, Peacock is $6 (1.99 during the promo), Appletv is $5 (free year with every new Apple device, which most consumers buy every two years any way), Paramount+ is $5 and Disney is $8, so simple math would tell us that the sum is $41, (plus $50 for avg internet) would be $91, or still less than half of the average cable bill. Also the average household only has three service subscriptions https://www.cloudwards.net/streaming-services-statistics/
  5. There's also the issue of who has the authority to get rid of the monarchy? And, even if they lost their role in the government, who would have the authority to seize their assets? Just using the example of the royal jewels, most of the late Queen's tiaras that she acquired in the last twenty years were gifts from foreign royals and dead socialites who weren't going to wear their tiaras anymore. So, what right would the British government have over gifts given to the family? Since 1992, they've agreed to be taxed and all of their expenses are public. But, it would be a slippery slope to allow a government to start saying that they had domain over their assets. There are plenty of rich Russian and Middle Eastern families in England who are worth billions and they would not take kindly to the UK government suddenly trying to excise dominion over the private property of wealthy individuals simply because of wavering public opinion.
  6. I think King Charles will run a leaner, less ostentatious, monarchy with fewer professional royals and lower costs. I also think his commitment to the environment will be popular. The big questions are: (1) How long will they wait for a coronation? (2) Will Camilla wear a crown to the ceremony? And (3) will Meghan attend both the funeral and the coronation? If the most recent status made UK citizens Elizabethans, are they now going to be Charlestons (lol)?
  7. Orpheus and Clyde being in Salem at the same time feels redundant. I know they run is separate circles, but they're both menacing villains with receding hairlines, and no viable sources of financial support, who are terrorizing much wealthier families, who seem to have the means of disposing of them rather easily, regardless of the prison system. I mean, I have no idea why EJ and Victor wouldn't run Clyde out of Salem on the next flight to Alamainia
  8. My argument against Craig (or Dianna) is that it means that they'd have to pay a day rate for the actor to return, and both actors are so thirsty that it would have leaked on social media. Whereas if it is Chad then he just becomes another in a string of DAYS romantic heroes who are also murderers. And RSW fans get to take solace in the fact that Alex has never killed anyone (yet).
  9. I've read that rumor, but (a) I don't think it makes sense with Nancy getting Abigail's bracelet from Clyde & (b) the writing is too heavy handed for there to be no fore-shadowing of Nancy as the culprit. My current bet is Diana Culville or Chad is going into some sort of alcohol induced psychosis when he drinks and blacks out, but he'll be exonerated because he didn't know the alcohol was affecting him due to some disease, he'll sober up with the help of Stephanie and they'll fall into a love triangle with Alex.
  10. It's just so odd when there are classic memories attached to certain sets, like when Marlena terrorized Maggie, the door was stage right, and the Horton Christmas tree was always next to the door on stage right, and Tom would home through the door on stage right. Now with the door upstage next to the stairs the only icons that establish it as the Horton living room are the color and the fireplace. BTW, is Alex a presumptive heir of the Jack's Devereaux trust given that his mother was Anjelica? I wonder if they'll pursue that side of the story?
  11. And don't forget when he had erectile dysfunction (classically misnamed as impotency on soaps) that was magically healed by hearing Terry Brock sing
  12. Tony is an interesting case. On paper he has a fascinating backstory of boffing the nurse while his mother was dying in the other room (or was it their father?) And throughout a variety of writers there was always constant through line of a straight arrow, who could easily be swayed into darkness when he got overwhelmed by the stress of being a doctor. I think the sign of a well developed character is that his vulnerability to women like Carly and Lucy was easily understood and the motivation was substantive to the character. But, Brad Maule could not escape being seen milquetoast. Unlike other chisel-jawed soap actors who were always able to still show a bit of a dark side, like John Callahan or Jed Allen, Maule lacked the same charisma. Perhaps the most amazing thing about both the character and the actor is that according to our re-read of SOD from the early 90s, GH wanted to fire Brad early on in his run. It seemed like he was always rumored to be on the verge of being axed, back burnered, or forgotten, and then would some how always persevere. He was truly the Phoenix of Port Charles.
  13. When I was watching today there was a chyron after each commercial announcing the move to Peacock, it took up the bottom third of the screen and kind of distracted from the dramatic scene between Jennifer and Maggie
  14. So, to preface, I've not seen an episode as it aired in years. My first reaction was that the number of commercials was staggering. There would be two scenes and then an immediate barrage of medications, prime time previews, and fast food. I miss the old educational scams of modeling and nursing schools, but I guess it is good to see the progress that student loan reform has had on daytime sponsorship. Also, I look forward to Peacock if it means less interruptions for my $1.99 per month. There was a chyron in each scene reminding viewers of the move. I liked the Maggie/Jenifer stuff. Even though we've seen very little of Jennifer's dependency, it was dramatic and played on all of the beats of history and family relationships that I like to see in soaps. But, Alice Horton would be horrified to see the state of her floors that were all scuffed and dusty. Also, are we just supposed to not notice that they've changed the entrance to the Horton house after 57 years? The Alex/Stefanie stuff was inoffensive. I find the actress playing Stephanie to be charming. I have no idea why she would be so proud of writing a press release, or why Titan needs to announce an interim CEO, given that the press would probably be more focused on Sonny, but it is good that she's staying busy. I can't help but look at Alex and think that in a prior generation it would be odd that this 34-year-old character wasn't more mature rather than still trying to be a quirky romantic lead. Don Craig and Neil Curtis weren't still being cute and coy at that age, and they knew to wear a tie in the workplace. Leo's attorney needs to be immediately dis-barred for disclosing confidential conversations to the police. And what cop lets a civilian walk in front of them when they're holding a gun? Also, I get the wig, but did Leo also have the time to get lipstick and fake boobs? I mean if a guy waking up from a stab wound could immediately recognize him, I don't think the boobs mattered...
  15. I recall that the Hunter family had Canadian roots, but was it ever explained why Jeremy had a French accent but his father had none?
  16. Guess who from the UK Masked Dancer? It's Jesse Metcalfe (Passions, Dallas). Ever since he dated Nadine Coyle of Girl's Aloud, Jesse seems to have maintained his celebrity status in the UK. However, this dance was not it, and when looking at YouTube, the costume was used by a prior contestant on The Masked Singer
  17. To be fair, it is her third house beside her mansion in Encino and her estate in Palm Springs
  18. Why does Lynda Hirsch persist in calling Alex by the name Zach in her last two columns? I assume she gets story outlines in advance, so I wonder if the original plan was to call the character Zach in order not to confuse the audience with Xander? But, did she also confuse Ned and Justin because of Wally Kurth? That editor is a mess.
  19. For no reason whatsoever I haven't watched any episodes for the final season so far. But, the ratings just came out and they fell 100%! I guess it is no surprise for a cancelled series, but it was worth noting
  20. Exactly, Ava is told it is nuts to see someone return from the dead by EJ who returned from the dead by the exact same people, and his son Johnny, who not only got his eyes magically restored, but was just possessed by the devil. It's like we only gaslight women in Salem
  21. LORNA DEVON GENERAL INFORMATION First Appearance: April 25, 1991 Given that the information was published in the 4/16/91. Mark (renamed from Tom) was introduced on 4/10, and Lorna on 4/25, that is a brilliant guess!
  22. I remembered this bit of trivia from our review of the classic SOD news Tumblr of April 16, 1991 @Franko & I searched for Tom and Mavis and found that the character was re-named Mark, then re-cast, and no word of Mavis was ever found
