  1. Lol, this album is deader than dead, I'm surprised there's even a second single.
  2. It's hard to imagine that Lynn Deerfield played Holly for 6 years and virtually nothing exists of it. Maybe that's exactly why I could never imagine anyone but Maureen Garrett playing Holly. I wonder if the change in actresses was seamless or if it took the audience a while to accept Garrett.
  3. I always liked the turbulent yet soothing music they used in Roger/Holly scenes in the early 90s - a perfect background for their dynamic. There were variations of it, it's kinda overdone towards the end of the brilliant scenes below, but still perfect. In retrospect, it's amazing that Roger and Holly's returns worked as well as they did. GL was such a different show by 1989, but despite all the changes and the show being an entirely different beast than their previous stint, it worked and was just the shot in the arm the show needed. Not to mention, it drove years worth of stories. When I started watching, I didn't even really know their history, how long they were away, and how the show had changed - they were just compulsively watchable characters both together and apart. Goes to show what great characters, actors, and writing can bring to the table. If I'm honest, this is probably the only time in my soap viewing existence where returns worked and the characters were arguably better defined than during their original stint. Too bad Zaslow and Garrett (especially her) remain so underrated and still never get the credit they deserve.
  4. God, 1996 was a terrible year for this show.
  5. Was it Bridget Dobson that said they would try to write a compelling opening teaser and then "it would flash to that thing with the dead leaves?"
  6. The Ritounelle theme is the best music GL ever had, IMO. I also think it's synonymous with the show's very best eras.
  7. I think GH fell apart during the latter half of 1998 to be honest, and never found its footing again (and that was WITH Riche).
  8. Best and most classiest soap exit ever, IMO.
  9. Hilda is iconic (overused word, but it's applicable for her). I think her exit is the best exit I've ever seen for a beloved longterm soap character. RIP Jean
  10. Frankly, I don't mind it or even care.
  11. A lot of people are just "over" her. She's peaked, and as you mentioned, outside of her core fanbase (which isn't enough to make her material successful anymore anyway), no one's interested. No amount of award show singing and forays into acting will salvage that. She does have some talent, but her and her management team just the worst execution of any pop star in recent years. I don't think this album will outsell ArtFlop or have any real standout hits.
  12. The album sold on par with what Britney Jean sold in its first week - given the amount of promo she did for this album (she barely did any for Britney Jean), this has got to be a big disappointment for her and her team. I exact final sales to be as terrible as Britney Jean's were. I wonder how bad the fall will be next week. Her commercial career really seems to be over (as you mentioned, radio will no longer support her), she's now essentially a glorified Vegas act at this point. It's sort of sad that Barbra, who essentially dusted off a bunch of old Broadway songs and duetted with movie stars and is well into the 6th decade of her career, beat her in album sales in her first week (let alone Florida Georgia Line). She's not as savvy as Beyonce, who has managed to sell albums and remain relevant without a big radio single. The public will always have some sort of interest in what Britney's up to, but no one (outside of the diehard fans she has left) seems interested in her musical output or overall career.
  13. Well, commercially, the public seems a bit over her (not that Britney's heart has been into her career for years now). Queen Barbra Streisand is on course to score her 10th #1 album, and Britney's Glory is on course to debut at #3 next week. Official results will be reported by Billboard on Thursday. http://hitsdailydouble.com/news&id=302786
  14. I can't even look at Danniella Westbrook when she's on-screen, she looks like an 80 year old on the verge of death. I know she has "issues" but damn...
