I hated Joe Carlino. LOL. I shouldn't let that reflect on the actor but I sometimes do. Carlson was such a different Josie but I know she was popular. She was also on Blue Bloods until they dumped her and killed her character I believe (off-screen in a plane crash, of course). It's interesting how often women are sacrificed and replaced but not the men (a trend on soaps I'm starting to pick up on ...) Looking back it's like they wanted Josie to be the Harley of AW, the female cop with the tough guy cop (Gary/Mallet). Just an observation.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Agreed. I do think they have had way too many cast changes over the last two decades but they can pull off theme weeks IMO. Like you said, focus on episodes that have a lot of Brooke, Taylor, Eric, Stephanie. Sally Spectra/Darlene Conley. Sheila and Lauren were both on B&B for years obviously, lol so they could be included. It could work. I think most fans are smart enough to 'get it'.

Oh. I am. You know that. I think he's checked out at times on DAYS but honestly who could blame him. He can't even show any of his actual personality it seems. Look at the above. If anyone rewatched early Wilson it's truly like night and day. Anywho ...

There are times I don't mind Fletcher and almost like him but then ... MEH. I did enjoy him with Alexandra but the writing sometimes did the character of Fletcher no favors. Soaps really seemed to enjoy the angry shouty, sanctimonious man who yelled at a strong woman. (Ross falls in this trap, IMO, around 96/97) And LOL he sure did get around. Damn did he have a lot of relationships. I don't really see any chemistry between Fletcher and Vanessa. I don't mind Eve and I love Hillary Edson but from what I started watching it was just a little "how wonderful she is" and they try a little too hard, but I've always been a fan of her as an actress. It was amusing watching Ed interview for a job at Cedars knowing that in the future they get together. Just a lot of focus on a new character played by a soap hopper. Just an observation. I guess they had to establish her. Oh my God, yes! So much. I saw some of that but not the entire story yet. I also see a lot of fakeouts. Blake's dream of Holly walking in on her and Ross in bed. Then you have Holly and Ross talking about Blake and he thinks Holly's talking about him and Blake having sex but of course it was about Blake's questions to him (she covered his press conference and asked what he did the night of the blackout, LOL. This Blake is SO much fun). I know they're soap tropes and Reilly WAY overdid it, but I see it. However the entire writing staff was so talented and it was pulled off, but I see shades. Also Little Bill so damn focused on his mom and dad reuniting. It reminds me of Reilly too, with Shawn-Douglas on DAYS and other kids he wrote for. I get it ... but still. He beats you over the head with it. And the huge "true love" thing, etc. Just lots of little things I notice. But the writing staff, again, is able to pull it off. I wonder exactly how much influence he had. Seems like a lot. Exactly this. Bridget and Nadine were very much up Reilly's wheelhouse. Yes. I despise The Buzz Hour (it was also "The Lucy Hour" and currently seems like "The Nick Hour" IMO, but I love Irizarry so I'll give it a pass). It just gets worse as the years go on. Jenna was ruined with him, IMO. Nola was wasted on him. At least he and Kim Zimmer had some weird sexual thing going between them that worked. I see a lot of "look at me" scenes with Mark Derwin but he's less obnoxious for the most part. But a lot of shouting and attention (similar to Buzz, IMO). I feel like it's Jill showcasing her 'stars'. You can see what she does too all over the show but it really hits in 93/94 it seems. I see her kinda pushing Hillary Edson, Vincent Irizarry, Rick Hearst. They're all great but the show spends a LOT of time on them where I'm at in July 1992. It's sad because the show is so entertaining, even when it's moving slower, and they have a ton of characters and lots going on. Lots of different ways they can go with storylines. It's a shame Jill slowly seemed to dismantle it.

Well that's good. And LOL that it still beats GH/DAYS. Curious to see how a full week does Yeah, hopefully they do well.

Yep, I can see it too. Agreed, no excuses, but there's likely a lot of factors for their behavior. I can only hope they learned from it. I mean, even Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso had issues with each other on DAYS. Young, arrogant, etc. budding stars with lots of pressures to succeed. Sometimes when someone lashes out it's a reflection of themselves.

I'm so excited for 1981! I'd love this too. Aren't the classic reruns doing pretty good though?

That's a shame she was treated that way. There sounds like lots of drama BTS on most soaps back in the 80s. Alcohol, drugs, egos, I'm sure ... I had always wondered why she gave up Beth to play Adrienne, cut from similar cloths. She does well in that kind of role but it felt a little redundant. It makes sense now, of course, why she left GL. Meanwhile, I'm watching June 1992 of GL. Lots of it I've seen, some it's new to me. Had no idea they paired Fletcher and Vanessa? I had to of known that. Did I block it out? They have like 0 chemistry and they ALWAYS tried too hard with Fletcher, IMO. Meh. (I also feel like they try too hard with Eve and Hillary Edson and way too much Vincent Irizarry as much as I love him). Also imagine Kinkead was getting frustrated playing mother hen to "poor Melinda". I can see why McKinsey was over the show. Alexandra's "power" was stripped away over time, IMO. I'm growing to like Mallet and Harley. I hated watching him in the wheelchair for whatever reason. I notice a lot of Reilly-isms (like Alan-Michael laser focused on Eleni and nothing but, etc), but it's nice to have it more layered, more depth, and I credit the rest of the writers for that. Blake and Ross is hot as hell. It's a shame they became so boring once Liz Keifer came onboard. They seemed to want to neuter the 'bad girls'. Jenna in her return 1996-1998 was like a different character. I LOVE early Jenna. So much fun. The humor. Eddie Mekka. Her exchange with Nadine at the non-wedding was hilarious and getting stuck with Michelle then adds layers to her. I miss that kind of writing. Not a popular opinion but I think Ed and Lillian had great chemistry. I LOVE Maureen with Roger. It's a real shame they didn't go there. I love the dialogue they have about Holly and how Ross and Ed coddle her. Roger also pointed out Maureen wanted to kill the woman but not the man and wondered why. Love it. 1993 doesn't do the show any favors. I really like a lot of what's going on in 1992.

Yes. I've thought about that a lot after seeing Robin on ATWT. It would have worked great. I liked Phillip and Olivia too. Often times chemistry is because the actors dislike each other, lol. So it worked. Still not entirely sure what went down between GA/CC. Wasn't it rumored/confirmed Judi Evans had issues with GA too? I mean, like all of us in life with the people we meet, not everyone will vibe or get along.

It was so mind boggling they fired her. AND NEVER brought her back. Hope was NEVER brought back. And then you had a bunch of similar aged women running around. It was so stupid. I kind of notice they had a tendency to dump someone and slot someone else in. Maeve dies, here comes Holly, etc.

She also had issues on DAYS. Yet she also had a ton of friends there. So ... it can go both ways, lol. I'd hang out with both her and Zimmer as they get drunk and spill the tea ... It's really sad so many leading ladies have "issues" with each other, that are likely blown vastly out of proportion.

I see what you mean. Sadly, of course he's right about the media (but he feeds into it and let's not pretend he doesn't say false stuff on the regular and isn't a self-serving moron). I see it everyday. I'm beyond turned off by the media and the talking heads and I see the different agendas being hammered home, getting everyone online in a tizzy. No one is innocent here, both sides turn me off for multiple reasons. They can ALL kick rocks. Anywho ... let's get back on track.

It's called hyperbole (on Khan's part). I'm sure Khan is aware. Everyone is making jokes about it.

+1 He actually looks better than he did 10 years ago when he started on GH.

Same Love the contrast as well. Sharon Case was definitely green. I also wonder if it's how she chose to play Sharon. Maybe a mix of both. I miss Karen Hensel as Doris and Crazy Phyllis. I always lol when I see Karen Hensel on Mama's Family as Olga. I remember watching in 1998 and just not really caring much about the Nina/Ryan/Victoria/Cole quad. It still rings true watching this episode. Meh. But I love Tricia Cast and Heather Tom so they act circles around the men.

All of this. I mean, seriously all of us sitting here can do a better job ... just sayin' And yes on Signy. She should have been a new character, I liked her on the show but no to Annie. Wasn't it ultimately meant as shock value she was Annie because they likely had no idea what to do with Teri? Or am I mis-remembering. Because that's how it came across. This sort of answers my confusion on her role. I really don't buy she was meant to be Annie from the start but who knows?

Yep. I agree on Miller. I was thrilled when he left and of course he showed up on GH. He and Heinle together was ... yikes. And that's exactly what's missing from all four soaps left. Especially Y&R.
