I a pretty sure Jan said it was charred or something, but that's a pretty sturdy cottage. I swear it's been on fire like 3 times. I know a lot more happened today, but I am so curious about Paulina's secret, dastardly plans for the HTS. Does she want to tear it down? Get rid of the plaque? I am actually more intrigued than I should be by this because it's probably stupid. I also giggled when Paulina said she wanted to be like Marlena when she was older lol I don't think it was supposed to be shady, but I took it that way.

Agreed. Days had to something to combat the Luke/Laura craze. I don't hate it. It was a good story, Marlena was a popular heroine, and Roman/Marlena were generally an unproblematic couple. So the show lied about the impact? Oh well. It's a good anecdote about the show's most popular heroine. I doubt anyone at the show thought it would be questioned 40 years later. I definitely take it any day over hiring James Franco to do whatever he did on GH and still feel the effects to this day with publicity that did nothing to help the ratings or the show lol.

I am sure the number was exaggerated, but 1000 calls doesn't seem like that much to me. I have to doubt Deidre was answering those calls though lol. All in all, it's basically a harmless publicity stunt that I believed as truth for years. Looking at it clearer, it's obvious it wasn't real or at least amped up in the press. It gave DH/Marlena more visibility and gave buzz to an already popular pairing of Roman/Marlena. At least Days didn't waste the stunt on someone lame like Jessica/Josh or something lol. FWIW, I think the Strangler story did go on for a couple of weeks after Marlena was revealed alive. I don't think Roman knew for a few days at least. Don knew almost right away. Jake found her in a cabin or something and then Roman had to shoot him. Really wants to make me want to watch early Roman/Marlena. They were so good.

Well at least Days chose the right actress to hang their hopes on lol. They needed the publicity, so whatever. And it's so long ago and Deidre is popular enough hearing it years later you can kind of believe people would care that much. I definitely believe people called in, but it is really hard to believe 70 people organized themselves enough to drive to Burbank and protest outside when you think about it. Plus every article is identical verbatim. Well played Days. She was fake dead for about 72 hours and you milked it for all it was worth. I have no idea what soaps/soap fandom was like in 1980, but I have to believe a lot of viewers might have at least guessed it was Sam? I know the show executed it well as most of the main players didn't know she had a twin (Roman, Gwen, Abe, Jake, etc) and Don saw her in the robe he gave her so it was fairly believable on that end, but I assume fans had to at least think that was a possibility. Or maybe they were too busy rallying the troops and making signs for their protest at the studios lol..

Everything sounds pretty good? Except for the Cin and Justin/Bonnie stuff, but I like the idea of Brady/Chloe/Phillip and Allie and Chanel going into business together. I am also intrigued by Xander/Gwen. Worried there are no Belle/Shawn spoilers and no Jarlena stuff. They will probably fire MM and BB again......

Aside from the fact the Chase/Willow/Michael stuff is horribly written, KM and CD are choosing to make Willow/Michael the most awkward people on the planet. Chase may be ill, but is he blind and unable to process obvious social cues? Everyone in the room acts visibly uncomfortable the entire time they interact with Chase. I mean, the man's not an idiot. At least Brook brought that up. If the two of them can't even pretend to act like normal humans why are they going along with the stupid plan? It's truly the weakest link in what is a pretty good show right now.

Yeah it has to be strategic. I used to hate when lead actors/actresses would chose to be in the "supporting" category because they were younger and less established then the usual leads. It seemed unfair and really stacked the supporting acting categories for years and sometimes the leading categories had actors/actresses with much smaller episode counts. Anyway......thread drift.....I thought today's show was good. I liked the Brady/Kristen stuff and the Jan/Claire stuff.

Thanks! I believe I did read that, but it's confusing and limiting. So if Lindsay Arnold is 21 right now, but is 22 in September of this year I wonder if she's still eligible. Otherwise, no one on Days is lol. 21 seems like a good cut off age. 18 seems a little young. There isn't a ton of competition. Time for Days to find a 16 year old Sydney and age Parker and beef up that teen scene.

This is all I could find on it but you appear to be correct: "The performer’s character must have premiered in the current eligibility (calendar) year and have made a limited number of appearances in a significant role" So that's pretty vague. I guess it's strictly on number of appearances. But I certainly wouldn't call Dr. whoever significant. I would assume people like Kim Delaney, Cady McClain, and even Mike Manning would be under those appearances because they started later in 2020 even if they were more recurring than "guest". It's kind of a silly category honestly. And I guess an actor can pick. Like next year VK could submit as "guest" for her appearances as Ciara, but will probably submit younger again (if she's still eligible-I can't even understand those new rules)

I have always found SBu hot and I used to feel ashamed of that because I hate Jason most of the time. He's a good looking man. I prefer his less bulked up look of the late 90's/early 2000's, but he's still got it. I like Jason/Britt. Steve seems to have some of his spark back. I am glad we finally got away from JaSam for awhile. It dragged on for years too long.

I forgot about Lindsay Arnold. She deserves it more than some of those questionable GH younger nods. Mike Manning? Not as big as a snub, but I would have him over Jeff Kober. The guest star stuff is confusing. Seriously, cannot remember that Dr. lol I am not sure I get the guidelines for "guest" but I think Mike Manning had a contract? Does that rule him out?

I think TB got the nod on name recognition. She did nothing that great as Ava this year. And I love TB. She is my favorite Carly. I am actually shocked TB got a nod over Stacy Haiduk, I figured SH was a shoe-in. I agree that Days doesn't showcase it's actors very well for Emmys. People like Ali Sweeney, Arianne Zucker, Peter Reckell, Stephen Nichols, Mary Beth Evans, etc., etc. should have more Emmy love for their days work. Deidre did some really great work back in the day. I was watching some stuff recently with DJ's death and her rape and I thought she was great. She's devolved into weird tics and gasping throughout the years, but I probably would have given her at least a nod for the Possession. Not because she was so great, but it was a pretty groundbreaking story and, like you said, Susan Lucci didn't do anything more some years she was nominated. DH was pretty good with the Pit/Affair stuff too, but the competition was pretty stiff. I can't really think of anything in the last 25 years where I thought she did anything astounding, but I am sure there are moments. I think I heard once she notoriously picked bad reels as well. Is Kim Delaney even a guest star? Isn't she pretty heavily recurring? Even Cady McClain, to me, is iffy as a guest star. George Delhoyo as Orpheus is a guest star. I guess Victoria Platt is a good example too, but I don't know how she got a nomination. I had to look up who she played again because I forgot and I watch Days regularly lol.

Well, GH pretty much dominated with some very questionable nominees. I can't really think of any Days actor that was robbed? But, lol, about the writing snub.

I cannot get over the inappropriate chemistry Gwen/Jack have. It's uncomfortable. Did Sami and Lucas get out of the secret room okay? Did Marlena just give up her Chloe search? That story probably should have been on today. I did like the Shawn/Jan/Belle stuff even if it was sorta dumb. Ugh to Ben/Claire. This is such a predictable story.

They are boring with no chemistry. I guess they look okay together. Chanel is a spoiled, whiny girl, but at least she has a personality. Tripp does not. To each their own though. I got a friendship vibe too. Which I am happy about. I don't love Elani or anything, but I think they are a solid B couple. And they are pretty. I had to LOL at Brady sending Marlena to the D mansion. Because why not send a 70 year old woman to find Chloe or Lucas or whoever without any back up? Is it sad I actually want Xander to get the 10 million dollars from EJ?

I never really saw the appeal in Tripp. He's okay, but just a general bland soap guy. I like Allie and I like Chanel. They have a little more personality. I am not wholeheartedly against Tripp/Allie, it's just not exciting. It's like one notch above Michael/Willow on GH. Maybe if they played a little more angst about the rape accusation, but everyone's over it lol.

I am sure AS was fine with it. It was said in an obviously joking manner and Lucas did say he was out of shape. I just felt like it was unnecessary to say to any character, especially a character like Sami who has had body image issues. It's just not a very Lucas thing to say. I had to laugh at Nicole saying sleeping with Xander was the worst thing she ever done. I can literally think of like 10 things off the top of my head Nicole has done that were worse. Allie/Trip are really boring. I think I am rooting for Allie/Chanel. And is Chanel going to get the hots for Eli? The show really has no idea what to do with Chanel lol. But I like her. I think someone said on another board the actress is 30. If she is she looks super young.

Lucas was lifting Sami up in the Secret Room to get out through the ceiling and he made several references to her being heavy and hurting his spine. He called her a "baby hippo". It was in "jest", but it felt very awkward, especially knowing how fans used to make fun of AS's weight. Yeah, I am not usually that sensitive but Sami/Ali both have struggled with weight issues, and it was in "fun", but it was uncomfortable. I know they are fictional and the actors seemed okay with it, but the show didn't need to go there. I usually love everything Lumi but that stuff made me cringe.

What's with the Sami fat jokes today? I love Lucas and Sami, but Idk, she might be sensitive about her weight since she had an eating disorder back in the day? Also, maybe Sami and Lucas could have used one of those many wine crates to get out.... I am also really confused why Xander is so poor. I know living at a hotel and drinking their entire mini bar is not cheap, but he had a job for a long time. He could also take Sarah's ring to a jeweler or the pawn shop to make money instead of trying to sell it to random people he interacts with. Dear God, can Lani turn Kristen in please?

It does feel like that. And some stories are interesting. Charlie's murder, Jan, Allie/Chanel, Paulina, Sami/Lucas, etc but they are dropped for long periods at a time. I just don't even know why Kristen is wasting all this effort on Chloe. Just trust freakin Brady. He has shown to be dumb loyal to Kristen. He's not John panting after Marlena like in 1997. That was a "legit" reason to scheme. John would have left Kristen for Marlena. Brady has been bending over backwards for Kristen and turned Chloe down. Anyway...whatever. The show is very disjointed and the masks are awful. Like why is Kristen in her Kate mask today with Xander? Is it a guarantee thing for Lk?

Well, the Kristen plot seems to get all the airtime. Are we ever gonna solve Charlie's murder lol? And Nicole could have been a normal human being and just called Eric back. Or went to visit him. Or anything other than what she did. Clearly the show has no idea what to do with Xander without Sarah. Same with Ben.

Yeah, I am not sure about that. I thought that would go somewhere, but it didn't at all. Maybe it still will? I think they are still married? The pacing of the show is awful. Nicole/Xander hooking up was super random too. They haven't had scenes for months.

Is this Chanel/Allie stuff actually going somewhere? I thought it was a shock value thing, but it seems like Chanel really does have feelings for Allie.
