  1. The recasts aren't the strongest. And obviously the trajectory from 20 year old college students to wanting marriage/children immediately aged them a lot. Again, ID, looks about the same age as her parents as well. Chloe/Phillip struggled a lot too. Chloe has been everything from good girl, heroine, vixen, bad girl, and prostitute. Every writer over the last 20 years has had a different idea about her. I don't even know what her career is now. Manager at Doug's? Opera singer? She's also struggled with a lot of odd/bad love interests. Phillip changed a lot through recasts, but I think he is the adult version of what JKJ's Phillip would have been as a teen. The weird KB years where he was a marine and lost his leg? Not so much lol. I also think the show made a mistake by getting rid of Mimi, Rex, and Cassie. I know none of them were popular, but Mimi/Shawn/Phillip/Belle needed that 4th person to make it viable. And the show spent so much time introducing Rex/Cassie for them to do absolutely nothing with them...a mistake.
  2. On the Carrie note, I always thought every writer pretty much struggled with Belle/Shawn once they became adults. They have all the history, supercouple parents, interesting family, but..they have awful stories or are written off the show. They gave Shawn/Belle a kid way too early and the only interesting thing they have done is Belle/Shawn/Phillip. Belle should not be a lawyer. She should run Basic Black or be a nurse/doctor or something. It's weird none of Marlena's children ever showed an interest in medicine. Shawn is okay as a cop, but I see Shawn as someone more rebellious than that. I always want Belle/Shawn to be more exciting than they are. Belle is not even a good rival for Carrie, even though Belle/Carrie are practically the same character. It's a bummer Jarlena/Bope's kids are so lame.
  3. I agree that Days is the only soap that seems the same. I do like everyone feels comfortable enough to continue interacting like they did pre-pandemic. I may be a party of one and say I liked the April Fool's episode. It's unnecessary, for sure, but I liked some of the nods to history (especially the Shawn/Jan, John/Sami stuff). It's silly and low brow, but I enjoyed it. The only part I disliked was the Steve/Kayla stuff.
  4. I agree. I am shocked the Hayes' or JA keep filming as well. I am also surprised the DH's are so willing to film and make out with each other. Meanwhile, on GH, Michael and Willow stand 10 feet apart talking about their feelings lol.
  5. Sort of changing the topic, I am watching early Roman/Marlena and I love them! WN/DH are fabulous together. They lack the passionate chemistry the DH's ended up having, but they are adorable. Roman is so wonderful to Marlena after Sam's death. WN is charming as hell. I don't know what happened in the 90's. Also, Anna's intro is ridiculous. "White slavery"? What? I can't even picture LH's Anna falling for WN's Roman. Glad they moved her on quickly.
  6. Seriously, Claire and Belle look the same age. ID looks way too old to be MM's daughter lol.
  7. Steve Olson is literally an entire missed opportunity of a character. What happened to him? Her stuff with Alex was not good. And the swipes MF's Mary would take at Marie, Marlena, etc. were just so annoying. MF's Mary seemed very vapid and honestly looked like Marie's contemporary. It's not that MF was old, per se, she just looked very mature. And who would run after evil Alex when Chris was hanging around? JT could definitely still get it in 1982 which is gross for me to say lol.
  8. Lol. I remember now. And she was going to press charges or sue or something. Legit, Mary was always a drag lol..
  9. Didn't Mary actually back over him with her car? Lol. Chris just never found the one although he tried. I really liked him and Marlena back in 86 before Drake. It's weird they have anti chemistry now.
  10. Thank you so much. I guess they could bring Melissa back to run it, but she seems to inept to be in charge of a company like that. Melissa would be a nice addition with Jennifer and Hope gone. Does Melissa have any other kids besides Nathan that could run it? From what I can tell Chris became a lawyer and disappeared basically, so there was no reason lol. Everything I have seen of JT's Chris I have liked. He's so charismatic. What happened? I think Chris was just never married because he never had a really popular love interest. Except Savannah, I guess. I think he was just a swinging bachelor and it actually did fit his character.
  11. Lol. Thanks. I knew it was technology based. How did Chris become a lawyer then? Didn't he own Shenanigans too?
  12. Didn't Chris have a patent for something that was super important for Anderson? I thought it was more of an engineering/technology manufacturing company not textiles lol, but I am sure that could easily be changed. Who would you bring back? Melissa? Who would run Anderson? Some long lost Bob Anderson kid/grand kid? It's so obscure that I don't think anyone would care, but it could be a nice nod to the past.
  13. Ron would do that. Didn't they kill most of the Anderson's off? Casualties of writing regime changes I guess. I think if they found a different actress to play Mary she would have lasted longer. They always could have given her a long lost child, but by 1982 all traces of Anderson Manufacturing were gone. How would you have resurrected them? They don't seem like a terribly popular family or anything.
  14. It's kinda sad because Mary was a long running character. It's a shame she went out like that. Melinda Fee just looked too old to be Mary and was very unlikable. And her obsession with Alex/Marie was weird after everything Alex did to her. Why did you dislike Fee as Mary?
  15. SBu is hot. Ingo is hotter. I have met them both (not at the same time) in person in non fan settings. Long story, but I worked at a really fancy tourist spot a long time ago. Steve has amazing eyes, but Ingo was smoking hot. Steve was super nice and Ingo was nice enough but very flirty to everyone. This was years ago, but they both were more attractive in person for sure. I didn't talk to them about GH (which I regret now) because I was trying to play it cool lol. I just don't like SBu's buffed out to the extreme look now.
  16. What? MB and IR were so hot in the 90's, but so was SB, especially before he got weirdly huge. Hot. Ignore Luke and his perm. Agree. Ingo was so hot. He even made Cosby sweaters look hot in the 90's I mean... Still can get it...(ignoring his real life personality of course)
  17. Jason has eaten the show with him and doesn't have 1000's of kids...There is no excuse except the show wants to make Sonny look sexy and virile. And, IMO, Sonny was dead sexy back in the day, but hasn't been in about 15 years. It's so much. We've had women like Claire ask Sonny to impregnate her in 2011!! The bar is set low for Alexis's daughters, but agreed. She seems the most Alexis like. And I think Pullos grew into a stunning looking woman.
  18. Pullos deserves a contract and I am shocked to say that because she was the most grating child actress IMO. It's not just the kids it's the amount of woman pregnant by him. 10 pregnancies? If I am counting right (Lily, Carly, Sam, Claudia). I mean, after seeing Stone die of AIDS and Robin live with it would he be so cavalier about birth control? I don't care he has kids, but enough is enough.
  19. That would make sense. I kept wondering why he was around so much and why he was the first person to find Marlena after the rape. I thought it meant something. I don't know if I find him off-putting in these clips, which are Marlena-centric, but I find him out of place. He just seems like a run of the mill, bland, soap hunk. I wouldn't say there was great chemistry between Joshua and Marlena, but I thought he was very kind to her after the rape and a good friend. I just kept thinking Marlena has a lot of other friends, so where are they? I don't understand why Jessica/Joshua were popular. Jessica was lame. At least they created an exciting son (until he was ruined). On the show, did it say if Jessica/Josh were still together when Nick arrived?
  20. But if half the town is related to Sonny/Carly does it really help repopulate? Jax has one kid after 25 years on the show. Robert/Anna have 1 kid. Holly has 0. Duke has a random kid. Brenda has a random kid. Frisco/Felicia have 1 living child. All Monica's kids are dead. I guess Liz/Jason/Sam/Maxie/Lulu have a decent breed of kids, but spread the wealth on this. Sonny has 6 kids that survived and Carly 4 (counting Morgan). It becomes like Days where most of the cast is related. Hell, Claire is related to everyone in town pretty much.
  21. I hated little Johnny. He had awful taste. He wanted Kellam to be his dad too. There were a few scenes of Josh/Don sparring over Marlena and other characters mentioning them "dating". How random. I can't say I am disappointed that didn't work out, although at least Marlena was in Josh's age range. Unlike Jessica lol. I wonder what a pairing between the two would have looked like. Not exciting from what I can tell...
  22. I would assume there were plans to eventually reunite Don/Marlena? Until the whole Roman stuff took off. Don was hanging around Marlena through most of the Salem Strangler stuff, but I always thought Don was a horrible husband and they shouldn't reunite. Don is a character that doesn't hold up very well overtime with his sexist, condescending ideas about women. And that scene is just very uncomfortable. There is a pretty famous John/Marlena scene from the early 2000's where John carries Marlena against her will like a caveman through Salem Place!! and then seduces her basically against her will that I have always hated too and it was considered sexy. Gross. Also, neither here nor there, but why was Josh Fallon always around Marlena during both the rape and some of the Strangler stuff. Was the show testing them as a couple? It definitely seems that way, but I have never really heard anything to back that up. Josh just seems very invested in Marlena at the time.
  23. I actually like LA and thought she was good as a young Kristina, but she hasn't done anything of value in years. They need to recast at this point with a stronger and more mature looking actress. Lexi still looks about 16 and she's pushing 30 now. Molly looks older than her. The show needs an actress more believable to take on meaty material and she should be Sonny jr. All of Sonny/Carly's kids are so nice and good. So boring. I get why the show gave Sonny/Carly Donna, but they did nothing with it. It would have been intriguing to see Sonny/Carly with a special needs daughter. But she was fine almost immediately and not seen again. I can't believe they haven't brought Morgan back yet. Was BC that big of a pain? lol I am sure they could find another Morgan if so. He wasn't that good. I still don't get why they didn't make Avery Morgan's child, because I think most of the Sonny/Carly/Ava stuff could have played the same or better with Avery being his grandkid vs. bio kid. It would have been awesome for Brenda to be the one who found Sonny, not Nina. That story is another one that writes itself. Brenda keeps him away from his family because he's finally the man she wants with amnesia, they fall in love again, only for Brenda to eventually tell him the truth and Sonny's torn between her and his family. But, like you said, it does not seem like FV has any interest in the character, so I won't hold my breath. Nina finding him isn't the worst, but it could have been a character that would have more impact overall. I don't know why the show clings to Carson so hard. I am sure they have a decent fanbase and it's nice to have a stable couple, but Carson was never designed to be an endgame, solid pairing. I think it comes down to MB's issues with chemistry in pairings. LW's Carly has options because she tends to have chemistry with most of her pairings. MB does not, so Carson basically gets to hold the show hostage with a lukewarm pairing.
  24. I just watched that scene and it is disturbing. When she slaps him and he lifts his arm to hit her back and Marlena flinches expecting Don to hit her. And then Don throws her on the bed. Yuck. I don't know if I consider it rape. Marlena does respond back and I think Don would have stopped had she told him to. The whole scene is just so dysfunctional and toxic. And it clearly was something Marlena almost immediately regretted. I don't know. It definitely can be debated and it turned my off to that pairing forever. I watched through the Kellam rape and I was shocked how good Deidre Hall was. So free of the tics and gasping and moaning she does now. She was just great in that story.
  25. This is where the show really screwed up by giving Sonny so many kids. A Nina/Sonny baby would be soapy goodness. It would be so much fun to watch Carly's head explode. They should have made Avery Morgan's baby and Donna should not exist. I would even say Kristina is useless as well. Sonny should have only Dante, Michael, and Morgan as his kids. Then we could have a Nina/Sonny daughter and the possibility would be left open for a Brenda/Sonny kid. GH is the only show that has 3 supercouples with no kids (Robert/Holly, Duke/Anna, Sonny/Brenda). It's very strange. Why Ethan is not Robert/Holly's son astounds me to this day. Why Brenda's rando child isn't Jax's is perplexing as well. These stories write themselves lol.
