  1. They are using examples of Cori Bush as if she is politically representative of Democrat/Black Democratic women when she is not. Lauren Underwood would be more accurate an example of the vast majority of Democrats who are Black women, pragmatic and about getting the work done. I can’t and won’t speak to Bush’s situation but I will say that this is not the “own” or “gotcha” that right-wingers might believe it is.
  2. Your welcome. Originally, I had read the article on the Seattle Times website but noticed there were no audio links, which sent me searching on Twitter. You don’t have to login, just type in twitter(dot)com/explore, copy and paste the title of the article in the search bar and scroll for a gift link. Sometimes you find one, sometimes not but for the most popular headlines, there are usually subscribers posting gift links. How did PA end up with two such horrid candidates? They need to choose better. No doubt, they are trying to drown out the story of their favored GA Senate candidate Hershel Walker and his desire to get an ex-girlfriend two abortions in two years, despite his claims of being rigidly anti-abortion.
  3. Did you ever get to hear the audio? This is why I often look for a gift link first, even before going to archive.ph because the archive often blocks audio and even some graphics. Searching for a gift link is the one enduring use I actually have for twitter at this time.
  4. Nazanin Boniadi speaks out about the activism of the young women in Iran. https://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/e2-80-98rings-of-power-e2-80-99-star-nazanin-boniadi-channels-iranian-activism-in-her-character-e2-80-9cthese-brave-women-inspired-me-to-play-this-role-e2-80-9d/ar-AA12FBQw
  5. Given the fact that Bob and Lisa were married, have a son and we knew that Lisa had lingering regrets about her part in the demise of the marriage, it actually made perfect sense. From a dramatic P.O.V. it was great to see Lisa wrestle with her love and loyalty to Kim and feeling generally protective of Bob and Kim’s relationship, yet viewing Bob as sort of the “one who got away”. You would see these brief flashes that provided a glimpse into this at unexpected moments. Especially when Lisa was going through menopause at the same time Kim was pregnant with Chris, Eileen did some great work in that storyline.
  6. Something similar could be said of Loretta Divine’s character Stevie. Stevie was a single mother who was in charge of the dorm. I can see why Debbie Allen wanted to experiment with the idea of Denise continuing her education while pregnant, think of how encouraging that would have been at that time, in terms of curbing the dropout rates among pregnant students and single moms. Debbie Allen also mentioned that she wanted to keep Marisa Tomei, as she thought it would have been interesting to have Maggie Lawton as a white student continuing at a black college that truly functioned the way a HBCU genuinely functioned, rather than what we saw in Season 1. The head honchos torpedoed Allen’s ideas to being back both Bonet and Tomei. In a recent interview Debbie Allen still expressed the desire to bring the show back, while exploring themes current to today’s society, believing that the show would be more relevant than ever, but I think certain forces would have to sign off on that, which seems to present some difficulties.
  7. Julianne Moore is this year’s president of the Venice Film festival.

  9. Thanks @DRW50. I look forward to seeing these episodes when I have the time.
  10. I don’t subscribe either. Fortunately, I get ESPN3 via my phone service. US Open and usopen.org may have highlights. I guess I got my answer tonight.
  11. That was an event. A lot of fun watching the atmosphere of that Serena match.
  12. It’s thoughtful and considerate, not to mention thorough that Playbill included Robert LuPone’s roles in daytime soaps. He was unforgettable as Leo Flynn on Guiding Light.
  13. The problem with having so many missing episodes is that it results in disjointed storytelling, really unfair to those who are seeing these stories for the first time. Someone who was far more attentive to the show during that time period can probably speak to Emily and Royce’s relationship but Emily liked Craig years before she and Royce met. She was concerned that he was still in love with his wife Sierra, who had gone missing and was presumed dead (surprise, in true soap opera fashion, she was still alive). Craig dumped her anyway, once he discovered that she had had an affair with Craig’s old nemesis Tonio Reyes, who had once briefly taken over Craig’s company through deception.
  14. Speaking of “trained” media who lean conservative, normally I avoid anything with Haberman’s name in the byline but found myself looking to see if there were any new insights in this article, brought to you, courtesy of the great Ms. Morgan Fairchild.
  15. Oh, I posted in the media thread about how the news division of every major network news broadcaster was crowing about their ratings. There was a momentary mention of Days Of Our Lives being “bumped” to streaming.
  16. He just might knock one of the other young American guys off that Tennis Channel “hype train” that you often complain about.😂 Who’ll it be?
  17. I think they were desperate for a story to sell, uh, tell. They could have just endlessly speculated, like they did with Comey and Clinton in 2016. They kept people hanging on for months on that one. I guess the media don’t want to risk tanking Trump’s chance to run again, the way they tanked Hillary’s campaign. One journalist even alluded to this. Because this would ruin their chance to shape the next election as a horse race that they can make a game out of, instead of something serious where lives can literally be at stake.
  18. Members of the media now expressing the pressure the DOJ was under to put something out there—they claim it was pressure from the people…no, it was pressure from the media. Now they get a heavily redacted document and they are disappointed because the ‘juicy bits’ have been redacted. Did they think the DOJ was going to compromise a whole investigation? Now the media itself is forced to admit that releasing such documents at this very early stage is not how things are usually done. Again, a situation that they, the media forced.
  19. That’s likely to be effective on social media as it seems to be getting immediate response, even amongst casual observers.
  20. Watched this livestream and it was interesting to hear from these different executives in broadcast news toot their own proverbial horns about how their various networks’ news programs and the recent inroads they have made in ratings share. The president of CBS News talked about the increasing popularity of that network’s morning news magazine show and how they cede the decision of when to interrupt regular daytime programming for breaking news to their affiliates to decide. There was brief mention Days Of Our Lives being “bumped” to streaming. Even PBS NewsHour talked about the impact of their decision to cover the counting of the electoral votes on January 6th 2021 and the insurrection that followed, despite the fact that PBS usually broadcasts children’s television during those time slots. It led to the decision to the expansion of breaking news coverage during the daytime. The general consensus seemed to be that News and sports has become far more popular and there seems to be a bigger embrace of broadcasting both during the daytime. I am not sure what their implications mean for daytime soaps, but I got the sense that the moving of Days Of Our Lives to Peacock is regarded as an afterthought, at least by the people in the news divisions.
  21. There is a Stephanie Williams Nelson who looks an awful lot like her on LinkedIn. I think this person has been running a nonprofit organization for a number of years, it seems.
  22. Also, to tie the higher amount of forgiveness to Pell grants, which was directly taken from VP Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign, is a great idea which targets lower income borrowers, many Black borrowers who have loan packages under Pell grants. My financial aid package was a mix of scholarships, Pell grant and a loan as an undergraduate student who was considered a low-income student. I also can’t understand why people are squawking about this in a world of college admission bribery scandals, 1 Trillion dollars tax breaks laws for wealthy people and PPP loan forgiveness going to mega church televangelist and the Catholic Church. The issue of college (un)affordability still remains to be tackled. I haven’t read too much about that, but there was mention of Biden having proposals for that too. Congress should feel free to tackle this issue as many have expressed concern about not addressing the root causes of the student loan crisis, which is the alarming cost of higher education. Also, has MTG done anything in her capacity as a Congresswoman for anyone but herself?
  23. The downside is that since this was a special election to fill Delgado’s vacated seat, Pat Ryan will have to run again in a few months. Hopefully he repeats. Knowing that he will have to run again in a few months, they may be directing spending toward that campaign.
  24. NDTV and their multiple commentary boxes is a special kind of madness but this hostile takeover seems to carry its own special kind of perils. Media takeovers by the uber-wealthy and well-connected seems to continue unabated in all corners of the world.
