Her integrity is still in doubt as far as I am concerned and I can’t say that I will ever trust her judgment overall. For now, at least she made a judgment of value. This time.

^^I always loved how Lucinda doted on Bianca. People might criticize how Lucinda was supposedly made the controlling, out of control heavy presence in both her daughters lives but I contend that her relationship with Bianca offered a different view, especially since Bianca willingly received Lucinda’s affection, in a way that Lily and Sierra sometimes found smothering.

This series doesn’t seem to have gotten many views but some of you may find the discussion interesting. There is actually a more recent discussion featuring this woman Elana Levine with The National Arts Club but the unfortunate issues with the audio make it a challenge to listen to. I am not interested in posting in other soaps threads, anyone who wants to can feel free to post/embed video from the original link.

I’ve been debating whether to mention this because it is, in essence, a rumor but years ago, there was a rumor that drinking may have been the reason for Guy’s abrupt departure from a play called The Violet Hour that ran on Broadway in the early ‘00s. I remember hearing it but hoping it wasn’t true.

Was Maggie still on the canvas when Cal Randolph and Marie Kovacs were murdered? I often wonder about the evolution of that story? Did it begin with one possible conclusion and end another way? This is why interviewing someone like a Susan Bedsow-Horgan would be invaluable, she might be able to clarify the timeline. There was a time after the Dobsons, before Marland that there was a team doing the writing. It would be good to know how long that period lasted and what Wes the comings and goings at that time and who was making the decisions during that time. Like, was that in-between period used by execs to trim the cast? I feel like he got Meg Snyder who could be fairly complex at times but that may have been due to knowing the actress prior to her arrival. Can someone please interview SBH already? And also, why doesn’t anyone ask more of these actors if they have some of their old episodes on video? It could help fill in the blanks. What about Charles and Patti Dizenzo? When’s the last time anybody interviewed them?

From the time I got on this board, you’ve seemed pretty chill @Errol and fairly even-keeled even when things get hectic. I have learned a WHOLE LOT since I have arrived on this board and 90% of it has been fun for me. I was someone who was mainly concerned with scripts, the writing process and actors’ interpretations of the scripts. I knew some basic show history, but being on this board, reading interviews and learning about backstage and BTS dynamics, some juicy, has really expanded what I know about the genre over the years.

You’re very welcome. Finding the gift links for paywalled news articles are pretty much the only reason why I venture there these days. It’ll be a shame when Twitter implodes once/if Musk buys it.

They are using examples of Cori Bush as if she is politically representative of Democrat/Black Democratic women when she is not. Lauren Underwood would be more accurate an example of the vast majority of Democrats who are Black women, pragmatic and about getting the work done. I can’t and won’t speak to Bush’s situation but I will say that this is not the “own” or “gotcha” that right-wingers might believe it is.

They need to choose better. No doubt, they are trying to drown out the story of their favored GA Senate candidate Hershel Walker and his desire to get an ex-girlfriend two abortions in two years, despite his claims of being rigidly anti-abortion.

Given the fact that Bob and Lisa were married, have a son and we knew that Lisa had lingering regrets about her part in the demise of the marriage, it actually made perfect sense. From a dramatic P.O.V. it was great to see Lisa wrestle with her love and loyalty to Kim and feeling generally protective of Bob and Kim’s relationship, yet viewing Bob as sort of the “one who got away”. You would see these brief flashes that provided a glimpse into this at unexpected moments. Especially when Lisa was going through menopause at the same time Kim was pregnant with Chris, Eileen did some great work in that storyline.

Something similar could be said of Loretta Divine’s character Stevie. Stevie was a single mother who was in charge of the dorm. I can see why Debbie Allen wanted to experiment with the idea of Denise continuing her education while pregnant, think of how encouraging that would have been at that time, in terms of curbing the dropout rates among pregnant students and single moms. Debbie Allen also mentioned that she wanted to keep Marisa Tomei, as she thought it would have been interesting to have Maggie Lawton as a white student continuing at a black college that truly functioned the way a HBCU genuinely functioned, rather than what we saw in Season 1. The head honchos torpedoed Allen’s ideas to being back both Bonet and Tomei. In a recent interview Debbie Allen still expressed the desire to bring the show back, while exploring themes current to today’s society, believing that the show would be more relevant than ever, but I think certain forces would have to sign off on that, which seems to present some difficulties.
