  1. 👀Ooh, I am definitely interested in hearing about that when the time is right.
  2. Thanks for filling in the blanks @Errol. I was curious about whether WGA members would picket or not. Looks like they are.
  3. Oh not Carl. R.I.P.
  4. According to the WGAW, writers who go Fi-Core surrender their membership in the WGA. https://www.wga.org/members/membership-information/wgaw-financial-core-list This tracks with what I was once told by an instructor while in grad school. This instructor was a former president of the WGAE. One day in a screenwriting class, he warned us that in the event of a writer’s strike, if we crossed the picket line, even if we weren’t yet members, we would never be able to join the Writer’s Guild. So it makes sense the crossing the picket line means that you are no longer regarded as a member. I am guessing that these soap writers who go Fi-Core at this point are no longer interested in utilizing the resources of the WGA as this will be the extent of their career, perhaps this is the only job they will have until they retire? Also, I am guessing that they no longer care what colleagues in the guild think of them.
  5. The first time I ever click onto Y&R on Pluto TV and they were showing the tribute episode to Kristoff St. John. Having just lost my brother this year, and his birthday is just a few days after Kristoff’s birthday, man, that episode made my eyes well up.
  6. For the past few months, I have been following the ICWA case. The U.S. had a history of not abiding by the treaties signed with native peoples, this is a course correction of that, imo as well as centuries of damage done to native people with families being forced apart. The same folks complaining about the U.S. actually abiding by a signed treaty with the indigenous nations and recognizing their sovereign rights are the same people who will romanticize the militia groups who trade gunfire with law enforcement on illegally occupied government land.
  7. Thanks for posting @Soapsuds. I am watching this now and already LA is dropping some tea on one of his previous gigs, when he was on Loving. He called out a producer who thinks did a lot of damage while there. It’s incredible (albeit unsurprising) how many of those types embedded themselves in the daytime soaps industry. I think at the time when there were so many soaps on the air and many were flourishing, people in the industry were probably willing to overlook the toxic people, believing that results justified their methods without thinking of the lasting effects and the consequences it would have farther down the road. That’s a discussion for another day though. Interesting video discussion so far. Sharon Case looks thrilled to have gotten an active storyline.
  8. She’s worked well with other scene partners, including…wait for it, Victoria Rowell (I’m not just talking romantic pairings tbh) but as @Taoboi stated the investment in the writing was rarely there. There was nearly the same level of investment in the writing for Sharon’s pairing with Adam, but the basis for that entire romantic relationship was abhorrent, so much so that even watching that scene the other day with Nick’s brief discussion with Adam about Faith’s abduction caused a visceral response from me considering that whole history with Adam stealing Faith from Sharon to give to a post-natal Ashley, who was catatonic after suffering through the delivery of a stillborn child. I will say that, more often than not, the writing seems to have been at its best for both characters when they have been paired together. JMO, I still think Sharon is missing that really really well written story that involves her history outside of the Newmans, outside of who she’s romantically involved with and even outside of her being a mother. We still need clarity on what truly happened to her father, even on what happened to her mother and where their relationship stands today. Regardless of how gruff her mother could be with her, other characters have treated Sharon far worse and those relationships have managed to be repaired and I refuse to believe that Sharon would cast aside her disabled mother because she didn’t talk nice to Sharon and kept calling her “girl”. Of all the longtime characters, Sharon has got to be one of the least invested in. Even Chelsea’s mother Daisy Duke got more storyline than Sharon’s mother.
  9. Some people may not like to hear this but clearly Case is Morrow’s best screen partner. There seems to be an inherent trust there and it pushes JM to extend his reach of emotions in a way that I haven’t seen from him in a seemingly long time. I admit that I don’t want as much as others but in the spurts where I have watched, and I have seen him in scenes…yeah, it’s been a very long time. Also, that scene where Nick straps the knife onto Sharon’s thigh, made me wonder if this was a precursor to some kind of rekindling of the relationship. Question-is the reason why Cameron keep entering the house to create mischief because Y&R can’t afford many sets? It seems preposterous to me that he can continue to gain access to the ranch, let alone Sharon’s house at this point. There must be a financial reason why this action isn’t taking place at another location.
  10. Wow. Glenda Jackson. Anyone who wants to see the breadth of this woman’s acting talent should Watch Elizabeth R. And she put that acting talent aside for decades to go into politics. https://www.msn.com/en-us/movies/news/glenda-jackson-women-in-love-oscar-winner-and-uk-politician-dies-at-87/ar-AA1cA9tp
  11. Back when daytime soaps had budgets! Today’s daytime soaps could never afford the likes of vintage Bill Blas or Oscar De La Renta. Today, you’re lucky if you see an actor dressed in an outfit from Etsy. Nothing against Etsy as I have a handmade playsuit from there but the rich people who are supposedly dripping in designer clothes dressed up in clothes I see on Etsy makes me giggle a little.
  12. It’s what they deserve. The GOP members’ fixation on Trump is a road to nowhere.
  13. This plot hole of Chance et al losing track of Faith smh.
  14. Wardrobe comment- Sharon and Summer’s color pathways for their outfits were so similar in an episode last week, pretty much within the same color family. I mention this because there was a time years ago, when I tuned into the show and wondered why tptb had Summer looking more like Sharon’s daughter than Phyllis’. AL is at least built more like Phyllis but the styling of both Sharon and Summer in that particular episode stood out to me.
  15. Here’s the link to her obituary in the New York Times. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/11/movies/jessie-maple-dead.html Years ago, WNET/Channel 13 in NYC had a documentary on the origins of PBS and it included the training program of television technicians and camera operators, of which Ms. Maple was part of that inaugural class. It’s a shame that PBS didn’t air her work on their channel the way they did for other filmmakers. She was one of those filmmakers that were mentioned as pioneers, with her photo displayed yet her work wasn’t as widely shown.
  16. Typo or not, it certainly fits. I’ve always thought so. Aileen Cannon really needs to recuse herself, whether she’s obliged or not. When I read her name as the presiding judge, it struck me as very odd, considering her judicial history on matters of Trump.
  17. Barbara in the bullring in Spain was iconic. Barbara doing her best Groucho Marx impression, then jumping out of the courtroom window (were there ever windows in courtrooms?) was a definite nadir (one of many in that time period) for the series. To me, it feels like there was a flirtation and a couple of dinners at the Mona Lisa, sort of a mixing of business with pleasure kind of thing for a brief period. He also wined and dined Susan Stewart (with Emily in tow, urging her mother not to flop this romantic opportunity, especially to pine away for John Dixon). It seemed like tptb were shopping Cal around to the unattached or semi-unattached over 50s ladies in Oakdale at one time.
  18. Liz was such a shrew, lol. Tonio was good for a laugh on occasion, like when Lucinda would berate him for some perceived wrong. That time she scolded him for skulking about the office trying to eavesdrop.
  19. Even though the actor looked a bit older than the recast, I could see the first actor who played Jarrod (Lindsay Frost’s dad irl) having a sweet chemistry with Kathleen Widdoes. Also, if Warren Frost was still in the role, I sincerely doubt we would have gotten a ‘¿Quien es mas macho?’ type of storyline between Cal and Jarrod. Then again, that Snyder circle already seemed way too incestuous and insular for my liking, so it’s probably for the best to have averted a long term romance between Emma and Jarrod.
  20. Not Mitch McConnell but this sounds good to me.
  21. This fool kept classified documents in a bathroom?! Lemme go read this indictment…we’ll, as soon as I finish my work.
  22. Well, I had decided to tune in later in the Ruud/Zverev match, only to get busy and completely forget about the match. I am guessing that I didn’t miss much. Sound like those RG boobirds got the SF matches that they deserved.
  23. Listen, I would have watched more if that regime was capable of layering their characters but I was thinking of the Goutman regime and tempered my expectations to be very limited. I Don think that gaggle of writers knew how to write layered characters. I mean, look what they did to Barbara in that courtroom scene where she jumps out of a window.
  24. 😂 which is why he would have been well cast for Rick Ryan, a character who was shady as hell.
  25. I have still never forgiven them for that time they booed Venus. The RG crowd has booed and jeered a number of players over the years but this year, they seem to be booing to amuse themselves more than anything.
