  1. Very true. After I posted this I realized the quandary the administration is in because it really is the job of the press to report these developments but the media is only satisfied when reporting those imbecilic antagonists in Congress. Social media is such a dubious messenger though and from what I’ve read, Twitter is glitching like crazy these days, a full-on implosion wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.
  2. The actors are giving the precise energy that such a storyline deserves.
  3. It feels like one of those statements that gets said so many times over the years that somehow it becomes accepted as if a fact. At this point, nobody really knows what soap could be the last one standing on terrestrial network television, there are so many factors that lead up to a cancellation. It reminds me of the oft repeated claim of the OJ Simpson trial ruining the daytime soap genre for good. The trial was just one of the factors, disjointed storytelling and a failure to adapt to shifted viewing patterns, the exodus of ad dollars are other factors, but the collapse of an entire genre is often boiled down to one year of a televised trial.
  4. IKR? And she had great onscreen chemistry with Scott Bryce and even Frank Runyeon. I remember reading on this board years ago that there were plans to bring back Runyeon for a limited run but plans fell through and it never happened. It’s a shame that never happened because it could have provided a chance to tie up that loose storyline thread (at least it felt like an incomplete thread), while providing a compelling reason to bring Betsy and Dani back onto the canvas and possibly bolster the Stewart clan before the series ended. Diana McColl. Stepdaughter to Lisa, who was widow to Diana’s father Whit McColl. Diana also had two brothers Brian McColl and Kirk MColl. Brian, who was once James Stenbeck’s lawyer before he dumped him as a client after learning of his nefarious ways and Barbara and Brian were once engaged before they broke up, because Brian believed Barbara’s son Paul was opposed to the relationship and would never accept it. Kirk McColl, the youngest sibling used to date Frannie Hughes and found out that he was the son of his father and the maid in open court during questioning of the maid who admitted to murdering his father Whit after an intense argument over her wanting to reveal her true identity to Kirk, her biological son.
  5. I feel like the White House and the VP’s office need to do more to publicize initiatives like these because Lord knows the media cannot be relied upon to inform the public about these things. Hopefully you all will be able to follow this link. Let me know if there’s a problem. I am testing this out. public-private partnership to generate investments in northern Central America
  6. I had always hoped that the show would bring Kim Ulrich, if not as Diana McColl for sporadic appearances the way Brian McColl and Beatrice and Penny Hughes sometimes did, then as a recast for Betsy Stewart Andropolous, especially when they brought back her daughter Dani in the late 1990s. It could have been fun and if nothing else, might have made those IIC think twice about a creating storyline where Dani hooks up with the man who had loved her as if she were his own daughter (if anything, there should have been a passionate relationship between Dani and Bryant, with each family either supportive or against the relationship). Lots of missed opportunities.
  7. I wasn’t watching the soap Texas but apparently actors Benjamin Hendrickson and Tom Wiggin were both in the cast before both landed at As The World Turns as Detective Hal Munson and Kirk Anderson.
  8. Don’t they now have the Night Court reboot? I have only seen two episodes but since I have streamed them on Peacock, I’m going to go ahead and assume that the terrestrial channel is also NBC, but yeah, one sitcom does not a lineup make. This reminds me of how ABC’s TGIF no longer exists but they do have a monster hit in sitcom Abbott Elementary. CBS has their meat and potatoes sitcoms, a far cry from their edgy sitcoms of the 1970s (that most of us discovered in reruns during the 1980s) but it works for CBS which has leaned more conservative for the past 25 years.
  9. Generations/Y&R: Kristoff St. John (Adam Marshall/Neil Winters), Vivica A. Fox (Maya Reubens/Dr. Stephanie Simmons The Doctors/As The World Turns: Elizabeth Hubbard (Dr. Althea Davis/Lucinda Walsh), Count Stovall (Hank Chambers/Detective Roy Franklin)
  10. One minor note- Ashley Jones portrayed Megan Dennison, not Nina.
  11. Wow, Alycia Parks wins her first title in Lyon, taking out the hometown favorite Caroline Garcia.
  12. Thanks for the clarification @janea4old. I am not generally on TikTok but I take it that they generally like to focus on what they deem to be the most controversial bits. I do remember after KSJ’s passing, Rowell mentioned a detente of sorts between she and Stafford. I guess social media will always highlight what they wanted to spotlight. Sometimes it does make me roll my eyes how people say these things as if it’s brand new information but then I start to chuckle remembering that it is absolutely new to them.
  13. How thoughtful to send this my way. Thank you @Soapsuds.
  14. George Santos once claimed to be a producer on the Broadway show Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark and I’m wondering why anybody in their right mind would claim this if it weren’t true, considering the checkered production history and the list of cast members who got injured, a few seriously, during that show’s brief run. So strange.
  15. You’re absolutely right @janea4old that interview is not new, but apparently it is new to those TikTok-ers out there who are discovering it for the first time. For example, there is this whole thing going around social media that young people are discovering this flashy, acrobatic French tennis player named Gaël Monfils. There are videos on TikTok of people, particularly guys, saying that if they knew about Monfils they would actually watch tennis 😂, well Monfils has been a professional tennis for well over a decade and has even been ranked in the top 10 in the world. These things are always new to someone. You’re also correct that Rowell has produced a number of projects. She’s exceedingly popular in the Caribbean, in Jamaica, in particular she often works with film and television people and is frequently featured in the national media there.
  16. Although hope springs eternal, same…I won’t be holding my breath either.
  17. It’s like “Inside Baseball” on soap opera focused message boards and threads but believe it or not, there are still people who had no clue. And TikTok is reaching a whole new audience who for them, this is a revelation.
  18. Here is a summary of the judge’s response, according to this tweet, for those who haven’t been able to read the article.
  19. Australian law seems to be a different kettle of fish.
  20. Her sister Margo was also introduced as something of a slut. Some soap themed podcast could perhaps interview Marshall Watson who portrayed the man that would eventually marry and leave Oakdale with Cricket.
  21. It’s a good thing no one was injured, physically anyway. Whenever I venture into my local Walgreens. I have to try to forget the parking lot shootout that happened over the summer. What a world. In other news, Day 1 of Black History Month and the NYT has an article about how Black Americans are much more likely to be audited by the I.R.S. than other groups, giving credence to complaints that some members of my family have been making for years.
  22. I realized in my post, I meant Days to Peacock. But between Days on Peacock and The Doctors toying with the Retro platform, there is eventually going to be a soap that will be savvy enough to engage F.A.S.T. in some way, shape or form, whether for classic episodes, a reboot of some kind or the occasional ‘made for streaming’ movie.
  23. Thanks for sending this! Yes, I have been feeling the same way. Which U.S. soap production company is going to have enough intelligence to take that next step? When Crackle first emerged, a lot of people mocked its presence but I saw from that time that it, or other platforms like it would eventually become more popular and more valuable as time went by. Some people think it can’t be done but those are some of the same people who never thought Days could end up on Hulu. Peacock
