  1. Amen to that! I wonder if they will even mention the anniversary on the show this year in any way? Somehow I doubt it. It was pre-Dingle after all, and there are only two characters left on the show who was around at the time, Eric and Robert (and he was only seven). This sorry fact highlights how this show has systematically destroyed almost all ties to its past.
  2. Today marks the 25th anniversary of this momentous occasion in Emmerdale history. (In the show's internal timeline it took place on December 31st, but the episode aired on the 30th)
  3. ^^ Well, if you believe what he says then I guess he won't run......
  4. I never thought I would hate anyone more than Debbie, but Aaron and Robert are trying their best to prove me wrong. I'm so tired of them and especially Aaron's constant whining and self-pity. The trio of Aaron, Robert and Liv are really challenging Debbie-Cain-Charity for the title of trifecta from hell.
  5. That is so true! Nowadays it's almost a badge of honour to have a criminal record, at least on Emmerdale.
  6. What do you mean - "still" ? She could never act. Her casting was nepotism at it's finest/worst. (Feel free to pick whichever option you prefer )
  7. To be fair to them they have a much bigger cast now, so it must be harder to give everyone something to do. That could be one of the reasons the tempo is so rushed. Then again, it's usually the same characters on the front-burner all the time, so they're not very good at distributing screentime evenly between them. And that is a major reason why the show feels disjointed. Some stories get heavy screentime for a week or so and then disappear for a few weeks, so that you've almost forgotten what happened by the time it is picked up again. Please don't feel bad about that. I'm eternally grateful for everything you've done so far.
  8. I like the slower pace, although I agree that the stories are lacking something. I just hope that they will keep this tempo next year, and that it's not just that they're stalling for time until Kim comes back. It's somewhat reminiscent of how the show used to be when it was good in the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s. And that is ironic since the show only aired two episodes a week back then, compared to six episodes a week now.....
  9. Not in my opinion.
  10. KESSLER: Because they want to take over America. Why can't they just come here and live like us? I want you to be an American, do what we do. We were here first. OK? You're second. I think the Native Americans would disagree with this....
  11. So Debbie got no punishment for her involvement in the acid attack on Ross..... Geez, what a surprise. I know that it wasn't her idea to throw acid at him, but she still hired Simon to attack someone, and she deserved some kind of punishment for that. This show......
  12. One of the most high-profile cases here ended with the perpetrator sentenced to jail, and when he appealed to a higher court the sentence was increased... Probably not what he had anticipated. The case has involved the Swedish Academy, since one of it's members is married to the convicted rapist. This scandal has been making headlines here for over a year now, and caused the Nobel Prize in literature for 2018 to be cancelled. You can read about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Claude_Arnault. And also here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Prize_in_Literature#2018_controversy_and_award_cancellation
