OT--With all the mentions of X days left till Christmas, I just wanted to mention that today is Winter Solstice, or the pagan holiday of Yule. My wife and I went out to dinner to celebrate last night (we always celebrate on the 21st, no matter when the actual solstice falls.) It's a beautiful story--the death of the Holly King, the rebirth of the Sun King signalling the long, slow growth of spring. I hope all of you keep warm tonight, on the longest night of the year, and keep the faith that yes, spring will come again. Oh, and Tracy better be on today, right? (Just to keep it OT.)

My letter to Frons and Phelps: Mr. Frons, I have just read about the firing of General Hospital veteran Stuart Damon on the TV Guide website. I am hoping this is just a rumor, and that the character of Alan Quartermaine will not be killed off during the February sweeps. I have only been watching this show for a year, but I have known the name "Alan Quartermaine" since I was a teenager back in the 80s. My sister was hooked on the show, and I promise you--to me, "Alan Quartermaine" did and will always mean "General Hospital." The two are synonymous in my heart, and to kill off the character for a ratings gimmick (or to cut the budget) is abhorrent to me. A few years back, you removed John Ingle from the GH canvas, much to the outrage of the fans. I notice that John Ingle is back on the show. Today, the rumor is that you will remove Stuart Damon--a man who's been with the show longer than the current writers, a man who is more familiar to the general public than any of the current darlings. I suspect your email will be full in the next few days, Mr. Frons. Fans are outraged, horrified, and disgusted by this news. Mr. Damon is beloved, a talented actor and fan favorite. Alan Quartermaine is a General Hospital staple, and deserves a true storyline, not an exit plot. If the rumors of Alan's demise are true, please reconsider. Changes are made all the time in television. Keeping Alan Quartermaine would be a smart, smart decision--at least in the eyes of the people who pay your salary--the fans.

That Stuart Damon rumor is so horrible I have decided to pretend I never saw it. I'm going to put my hands over my ears and sing "lalalalalalalaaaaa" for hours, just so I don't have to even think about it. "To Be A Quartermaine" is the title of my giant woolly mammoth of an AU story. I just reread the part I wrote before vacation. Haven't had time to write, of course, because I get back from a 9-day vacation THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I haven't done any holiday shopping (we do that tomorrow night), nor have I unpacked (started that tonight), and I have about a week's worth of laundry to do (tomorrow night), and of course, work is scheduling meetings right and left, so I'm going in a half-hour early pretty much for the rest of the week. Oh, and my portable media managed to get lost while we were away. Damn. And I still haven't seen Monday's Tracy episode. I want to see it. Really, I do. I miss Tracy. Anybody got any fic done? Regency? MsQ? Downloading vids takes forever, although I did see "She's a Lady." Cute vid, MsQ. Anyway, I'm rambling because I don't have enough brain to do anything constructive. Sorry to inflict my brain damage on you all....

OMG, ya'll are KILLING me! I've been scanning the stuff I missed on this board, and that took me over forty-five minutes. Videos, CARRIE ROSS!, spoilers, and TQ on yesterday? Not to mention the five chat transcripts in my email? You realize I will never catch up! I'm thrilled to be home--well, thrilled to be back, wish I lived elsewhere. THRILLED I have TQ to look forward to tonight. Can't wait to watch She's a Lady (downloading now). Haven't checked JE.com and the ficathon yet. Missed you guys so much. Hey, Deb here. I was hoping you guys would take a quick jaunt over to the TQ Ficathon (click the lovely green banner below if this link doesn't work) to weigh in on the current project. We were batting around a few ideas about something we could all do as a group for Jane's 60th birthday in January. Regency suggested a ficathon featuring all of Jane's characters, not just TracyQ. Lainey suggested a sort of "virtual birthday party" for Tracy, where we all write our ideas of the ultimate TQ Birthday Bash. I know it's late notice, but I'm hoping we can have something together by the first or second week of January. I'd like to print out whatever we have and mail it to Jane via the ABC site. But since her birthday is January 17th, that doesn't give us much time. If anybody would like to contribute something--poetry, artwork, fanfic--please let me know. I'd like Jane to know what kind of creative, wacky fans she has. If we can't decide on one particular theme, maybe we could just all submit one or two stories we think best represents our work, and we could just put them together in a zine to send her. Whatever we decide to do, we sorta have to do it quick, if we want her to have it on or near her birthday. Thanks.

Who is "Jim_Quartermaine" at SZ, and why is he ticking me off? He's posting all these old posts that I don't quite understand, and making all these comments about various characters. Today, he mentioned Tracy and said that (1) she never grows, changes, etc. and (2) she constantly whines. Are we watching the same show? Are we on the same planet? Could somebody who spends more than ten minutes at SZ a week please tell me what this guy is talking about? Lemme guess--no Tracy today?

Hey, just to clarify--just because I'm on vacation, doesn't mean I won't be writing. I am Official Seat-Holder and Line-Stander-Inner, and thus will have lots of down time. Hand? Meet pen and paper. Yeah, I'm probably going to be doing some writing while Fey explores (her first trip to WDW, my 6th.) I will, however, miss six days of GH--which means I might actually miss a TQ scene. Naah, probably not. I'll be home before the week of Christmas. It must be all the love here--less than a week before our vacation, Fey's monthly check went missing yesterday. This is the check all our utilities come out of...just in case you needed to know. Our vacation/Christmas/move out in January budget is so tight it squeaks, so this was a humongous blow. This morning, after I'd called all the utilities to set the ball in motion for extensions while we wait for the grace period to pass so we could request a replacement, I got an email from Fey saying THE REDNECK had found the check in a stack of Fey's mom's mail! It must be all the love here. You guys just WANT me to have a great vacation, and you're sending SCADS of positive mojo my way. Have I ever mentioned to you guys that I love you all? Keith, you need to send pictures of you in ElphaDrag. Lainey, you need to have more bad days, so you will love our stories even more. MsQ, you need to post more updates. Now. Regency, come on--you haven't tortured Tracy in DAYS....whines.... ILTQ, you know you can't stay away. We're addictive, and Tracy is our crack! To anyone I've missed--you know who you are.
