ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Even ESS won't get me to watch trash pit FX after their years of anti-gay programs, but I hope he takes off his clothes a lot.

Little Women: Atlanta
cheap I wondered if you watched any of the other NY clips on that Lifetime Youtube channel. A few cracked me up - that woman who was horrified at going to a dangerous neighborhood and was trying to figure out her dating profile in another clip was a lot of fun. I was surprised at how frank the show was at how often little people, or whatever the term is, are used as cheap sexual fetish. I read on Wikipedia that they will be back in May, but there was no source.

I'm not entirely sure what the script's intention was for the Martin and Stacey "proposal," but it made me feel sad. Sad because Stacey's sole emphasis - to Martin and to Kyle - was that Martin keeps her safe, Martin loves her. Not that she loves Martin or feels any particular desire for him. That's a recipe for disaster, especially when Martin does eventually stop being everything she wants out of a partner (saying yes, no questions asked, when she says that a man who was, as far as he knew, stalking Stacey for months wants to move in with him and their small children; saying yes to going to see Kush with the baby, even though he loathes Kush). And if Martin does remain perfect, she will grow to resent him, because he will be a permanent reminder of her failures. The scene with Kyle and Stacey was pretty good, but, as I've seen someone else mention, I'm not sure Stacey saying Kyle being trans is equivalent to her being messed up is the best message. Then again it's miles better than most of what Kyle has gotten so far. I hope a new chapter is finally starting with this story. The version I watched didn't have the Phil party-ruining scenes, which is probably for the best, as I've already seen them 500 times anyway. The Paul and Ben scene where Ben talked about having nightmares of Kathy's death, in spite of her now being alive, really got to me. I'm not entirely sure why Ben is only having these scenes NOW and why they are only building his emotional bond with Paul NOW, but I guess I shouldn't complain and should just be happy I'm getting this at all, rather than more of Abi smirking.I felt for Nancy in her talk with Shirley, because Shirley is saying what she wants and needs, not what Nancy needs. It's patently obvious that Mick has problems with Nancy and she's right to want to stay away. As for Babe and Mick, it's mostly just another reminder of what Babe could have been if she hadn't been made such a grotesque caricature. I saw a comment saying she was going to try to get Mick to sell the baby, and it made me laugh, because that is probably what I will always end up thinking of as well.I guess it's a good thing that poor woman who had a vague resemblance to Cindy Beale (Sr) left the Square before Carmel arrived via Kushdar, siccing her feral cat on her to punish her for corrupting the purest boy around. The spoiler photos I saw mostly focused on Kush's pert backside, which, admittedly, is of better quality than anything Kush has had storywise in ages, but I'm glad the episode itself had slightly more restraint in camera angles. Kudos to Letitia Dean for making it clear in her body language and such that Sharon is filling in behind the bar and not acting like The Vic is still hers (even if I sometimes wish it still was). Many actors who play pub owners have too much ego to make that distinction. Yeah it threw me too. I mentioned it in my blather over at WW (I didn't mention you as I didn't want you get any nasty PMs or whatever).- Coronation Street: Discussion Thread
Watched Monday's double as I'm always a sucker for Todd and Sarah (I wouldn't even be that bothered if they ever "turn" him back into a relationship with her). The writing was very skimming-Wikipedia, but they made it work, especially Bruno Langley. I'm so glad the show remembered Billy and how his death has haunted them both. That's the Corrie I love. The rest was the Corrie I try to avoid - shocking caricature (Mary, Sean, Tracy too but at least she made me laugh), entitled nastiness (Anna trying to throw Todd out of a diner that is not hers; Fiz and Sean spouting off at length to their bosses), and unpleasant drudgery (nasty Anna and nasty Eileen at dinner with blubber man and hapless Kevin; Tyrone and Fiz money woes). Kylie and the old man and Aiden and Eva and the plot device immigrant were like Shakespeare in comparison.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
The Ashley and Laurel material on Monday was by far the best I can remember in the story so far, other than the episode where he got his diagnosis. The painful reality of his illness and how it crushed Laurel...Sandy and Doug trying to support her as best they could...Harriet putting aside her own pain to go along with what helped Ashley. Good material, full of heart and honesty. Rare on Emmerdale now.- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The groundwork has well and truly been laid for poor Kushie "just wanting to be a dad." Never mind that he only wants to "be a dad" because he's lost everything else (when he had something to lose he couldn't avoid that child fast enough) and because his mother practically tasers him into compliance. No, he's so long-suffering and just wants to see his boy. Sonia acts as voice of the writers to remind them - and us - who the victim is here. Martin is, of course, snappish and controlling, and Stacey is already uncomfortable with a house of open lies. The whole thing is unwatchable. I just can't stomach Kush, or his hand-holders, or that poor me face he does all the time. I wish Janine would run him over.I rolled my eyes when they had to also add on the Kyle element, because it isn't DTC if it isn't overstuffed. They've done a poor job establishing Kyle - every time he's been seen, he's been portrayed as menacing and as a nuisance, with the actor who plays him either unable or incapable of adding more layers. While I'm sure he and Stacey will become close in no time (as close as anyone can get to Stacey...), it's a shockingly retrograde extended intro, full of negative stereotypes that portray trans people as dangerous "others." Phil and Shirley - I proudly skipped every scene. The Ben scenes were much better than they had a right to be, given how much this story is in stall mode. One thing Eastenders still remembers that soaps like Emmerdale have forgotten is the power of friendship - those simple bantering scenes between Jay and Ben go a long way to humanize Ben's character. I must say I also prefer Paul as Ben's friend to his lover. They work very well in this type of scene. And I was very pleasantly surprised at how much we got of Kathy's angst and struggle over how to celebrate the day with him, what to say to him or not say to him. This is the type of thing I want to see so much more of. The Ben stuff singlehandedly kept me from junking this episode.- Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Smart decision. She clearly didn't want to be there, and judging by the way the editors trolled her in several episodes, they weren't thrilled with it. I guess she needed the money but in the end it wasn't worth the hit she took to her image. At least she's smart enough to leave after one season, unlike Eileen Davidson.- What Are You Listening To?

Ever since they tried to make viewers think that Aaron might have convinced himself he'd been sexually abused, I checked out mentally. The Liv stuff just feels like extra angst and misery. The new producer claims that Aaron will be happier after this, but I wonder if that just means he'll be offcamera. I wish they'd let Chas have her own life and get her into other stories. The writing for her with Aaron this past year has been so herky-jerky and plotty.- ALL: Temporary Replacements

What route? Liv spying for Gordon? Sadly this story lost any pretense of responsibility months ago.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
The person who uploaded a lot of January-March 1991 episodes on Youtube gave me one that they didn't get to upload. You get to see poor Archie's mother (I loved Archie - I wish they hadn't killed him), and you get to see more of the depressing pregnancy/abortion story for Dolly that made Jean Rogers quit.- The Politics Thread
More epitaphs for the media darling. https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/death-of-a-mannequin-marco-rubios-last-day-20160318?page= https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/what-went-wrong-with-marco-rubio-20160318?page=11 I read a bit about Bernie Sanders' wife going to Joe Arpaio's "tent city" and being surprised when he confronted her, and Bernie being outraged and so on. It's all such cheap theatrics from that campaign. It's more like Kucinich. I was surprised. I guess he's getting desperate.- What Are You Listening To?

I thought the end was a bit melodramatic, but John Middleton was wonderful, and it did break my heart. I'm glad they had so many positive things beforehand, and a happy wedding. I felt awful for Harriet having to marry them, but at least it gave her some closure. Bob's presence reminded me that he was in love with her for about 3 weeks. I'm so glad that was dropped. I loved Kerry accusing her of sabotaging the wedding, and seeing Kerry grinding in the background, and so on. She's such a fun character. That vicar, Ben, is hot. I hope they keep him around. I can't stand Joanie and Zak as a couple and I'm tired of seeing them together. I desperately want Rhona and Paddy to split, and they don't, but Zak and his side piece are now shackled. Ugh. I couldn't really watch any of the Andy/Chrissie or Liv spy stuff. I'm so uncomfortable with how they've handled Aaron's story.- Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I feel like they should just scrap BH. They made terrible mistakes in keeping a number of people too long (Brandi, Yolanda, maybe Kim) and in beating the same few themes to death - #1 being these futile wars with LVP. The premise of the show seems to be long gone because they got addicted to the whirlwind drama with Taylor and Russell Armstrong. Maybe they can try to work with LVP on a new show and give it the BH timeslot.- The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
But she was always more than one thing. She didn't need this garbage writing to make her the character that every TV critic and seemingly half the audience to all agree is the best written character on the show just as she was. At this rate, I half expect that guy with the deep voice to run the coming attractions like this: "Next Time, on a Very Special Walking Dead..." She needed it to remain a viable character. Carol pretending to be a weak woman but actually being a heartless Rambo isn't something that can sustain her as a character.- The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
Exactly where did it come from? What sparked it because I obviously missed something. JSS was where it really started - not the Morgan stuff, but how broken she was in the moments when she was on her own.- B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
