The Doctors Discussion Thread
I didn't realize he was still alive. He was so typical of soaps of that era, even though the rest of the show was somewhat atypical. I think his one-on-ones with Althea were the best use of the character, although I did like the end of the adoption story with Ruth.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The scenes of Ben rampaging after Abi's "miscarriage" were so bad. They never should have been let on the air. And we're still expected to pity that wrinkled old ballsac Phil and be happy that his cadre of enablers hover. Oh Phil might die. Boo hoo. He's not going to die. Oh we have to protect the business. Boo hoo. A broken down garage and car lot. Only in soapland does this constitute property of value. I already saw people saying they were upset Ronnie and Ben and Sharon were trying to "steal" his businesses. You mean bail him out? Phil will always be a victim to some fans...especially those fans who root for child abuse and violence. When Shirley warned Ben to leave Phil alone after what he did to Heather, I wanted someone to remind her that Phil covered up Ben killing her and left Shirley to find her corpse. Shirley never gave a damn about Heather anyway. Wretched woman.

- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
The only way that Aaron and Robert will work is a couple is if Aaron accepts who Robert is. If they have Robert do and say stupid things and Aaron gets fussy and gets the vapors and can't take it, then it will just be too dumb to bother with. I think they like the actor who plays Lachlan, which is fine, but they have done nothing with him. They won't even address what Lachlan did. Instead they TELL us how good he is and how wonderful he is and how nothing is his fault. That's not how writing works. The fans out there who see Robert or Aaron/Robert as the great evil and the Whites as poor poor victims might buy it, but no one else does. The show needs to realize this about Lachlan and his mother, but I doubt they ever will. Instead they will just keep trying to force these failures on viewers.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
This would be like if we kept hearing about how Dean was sweet and good and no one cared that he raped or tried to rape several women. And at least Dean was a hot piece of ass, whereas Lachlan is just a brat. Yet they can't stop with him. I'd love to know if Kate Oates resents the viewers who can't get the memo about Lachlan's perfection. It's just ludicrous. I don't even like Aaron and Robert together, but the delusion of talking about how they're "holding hands and skipping" when their current relationship amounts to Aaron taking his rapist father to court - it's jaw-dropping to me, not to mention borderline homophobic. I don't need to see that garbage. It really disappointed me. It also shows me yet again how cavalierly Emmerdale takes rape and sexual abuse.- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
I saw them, yes. The first one actually makes me very annoyed because it's so contrived and it's just a way to shoehorn Robert back into that godawful unwatchable family. Kate Oates never lets him get away from them. The second one I will wait and see on. It all feels like it's out of nowhere. I hope they won't ruin the character, as the actor is handsome and talented. This interview also involves that first spoilers, and it's one delusion after another after another. I truly hate this pairing and I hate both characters. I'm tired of hearing Louise Marwood talk about what a victim Chrissie is and how decent she is. Chrissie is a nasty, whiny, misogynist, self-righteous, cruel, petty, deluded bitch who has done nothing but hurt people. And I have to raise my eyebrows at the part mocking Aaron and Robert for "holding hands and skipping." Then there's this: http://metro.co.uk/2016/03/28/emmerdale-spoilers-louise-marwood-and-kelvin-fletcher-talk-chrandy-robron-and-andys-attack-5777387/ KF: It’s weird, I’ve not had many scenes with Tom, and I guess I’d see a lot of younger Andy in him. They’re from completely different backgrounds but he’s somewhat a little bit of a lost soul and he feels like a black sheep within his own family and that’s how Andy felt. He never felt like he had somewhere to belong. So, I guess he could maybe sympathise with him and understand his years of torment. At the heart of him, there’s a good, sensitive boy, but he’s just a little bit lost and confused. That’s where the class and the fact that he’s got money, and that Andy came from the opposite, doesn’t matter. Andy can still relate. Maybe he would be a bit of a father figure, I don’t know. It's bullsh!t. That's the only word for it. Absolute horse sh!t. Emmerdale refuses to face up to Lachlan being a monster. He has assaulted 4 women. He has burgled. He nearly shot two people. He nearly killed his grandfather. And yet we still have to hear about how decent he is. It's absolutely disgusting. It's disgusting. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of this family. They are worthless. And the show continues to use Robert as a bogeyman to hide how worthless they are. Enough already. I've been tired of this family for over a year, and I'm even more tired of these delusional interviews. Get Bernice out of there and nuke Home Farm ASAP. They can kiss my ass.- The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread

One of the main things that annoyed me with this episode was Rick now saying he agreed with Carol killing Karen and David (which he has never said up to this point, and even just 4-5 episodes ago, when he was on the road with Daryl, he seemed to have a more open approach), being so, so confident in telling Morgan they'd be fine against Negan, etc. I get the idea of setting up for a fall, but it was such blatantly clumsy plot-over-character. It reminded me a lot of the first few seasons. Disappointing.- Twin Peaks
- The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
I think part of the problem is a lot of viewers did see her as one-dimensional - as Rambo in female form. It's clumsy at times but I think they had to address Carol's writing because you couldn't keep her where she was last season.- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
I'd never seen this before. One of the few appearances of the actual Rodi (the very talented LaTonya Richardson). Max was always super-super-intense with Mia Korf's Blair, and it often comes across to me as offputting. I never got the sense that Gottlieb knew exactly what to do with him. The Megan stuff is so sad, as is to be expected, of course. I can imagine what a treat the flashbacks were to viewers at the time, especially some of the older flashbacks. I loved Andrew but it's impossible for me to take those scenes seriously when the general is played by Busmalis from Oz.- The Walking Dead: Discussion Thread
That show only runs a few episodes, so I'd be surprised if he left for that, but who knows. I just think it's a fakeout.- Twin Peaks

I am at my limit with emo dumbass Daryl and with these cheesy fakeouts. Obviously he won't be dead. If Rosita is dead because he's so damn stupid, I'm going back on hiatus.- Somerset Discussion Thread
I'm not sure how many of the earlier episodes are still around, so maybe you can find some of the earliest that are available.- Somerset Discussion Thread
You should try listening to The Archers.- Somerset Discussion Thread
Thanks. I wish I could see more of the show. I guess I should be happy with the audio recordings and episode that popped up last year...before that I figured the grainy India breakdown episode was it.- Somerset Discussion Thread
I never knew that about Ellen. That's a shame. Reminds me of (not that it's the same) when ATWT didn't even bother to have Emma Snyder around for the last year. I know some preferred Kate to Vicky and thought they made a big mistake writing Tina Sloan out. Did you? How was Audrey Landers on the show, or Sigourney Weaver, or Holland Taylor?- Somerset Discussion Thread
Do you agree with them about the last year being the best, or about Ellen?- "Secret Storm" memories.

I should probably make a big thread or do a blog but I just end up doing it individually. Thanks. Daily TV Serials is my favorite too, of those I've read. It's opinionated but not too much so, and has a lot of great content. It's a shame that SOD seemed to pretty much shut all these out of the market, although some, like Dawn to Dusk, were pretty bare by that point anyway. - Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
