  1. Is this Victoria Rowell in this Plymouth ad?
  2. I thought Kiefer was very good in the movie...overplaying it would have been irritating, and the movie wasn't really involved with the type of overplaying often in the show. It was a very harrowing film.
  3. I really do wonder if this Hubbard story is what got DTC out the door. Surely they didn't plan for the big "death" to only last a week? It smells of rewrites. Nothing is ever Stacey's fault. The same mental illness that allows her to murder people and let her husband commit suicide for it also causes her to drop her panties for her friend's boyfriend. Martin has to forgive her because if he doesn't, viewers might not get the memo. I'd also guess that this is to set up Stacey again cheating on him with Kush or Ryan, because Stacey is now all but forced to stay with a man she does not like or love. Now that she's done with her thrilling "Are You There God? It's Me, Stacey Slater" saga, she has to find some type of pole to smoke. Wait until Kush or Ryan are dating another woman - then it's time to light 'em up. Martin is now Bradley 2.0 in every way. I can't bother with the Carter stuff as long as Shirley is involved.
  4. Well a lot of people liked her, apparently. I just thought Kelli Maroney was hellish to watch and I hated that Rae and Seneca, fascinating characters, disappeared up her colon.
  5. She's really good on the show. It helps that they write in some of the prissiness that she has as an actress.
  6. I don't think that was the reason, per se, as much as the show, to me anyway, really ran out of stories for a number of central characters (Roger, Delia, Frank, Jill, Faith) by 1980, or sunk them with bad stories (Seneca, Rae). Delia and Frank/Jill in particular kept repeating stories again and again. There were certainly some strong scenes, but Ryan's Hope had always had stronger scenes than storylines, and this became more and more true. I also found Joe #2 and Kimberly to be unwatchable, but I know many others liked them.
  7. They did that a lot. One of my most angry moments as a viewer was when Maeve was so tired of Delia's bragging over using Maeve's tips for her stocks that she started giving her false tips so Delia would lose her money. It was just cruel and felt out of character. Then Johnny (who took money from Delia) berating her day after day, along with that nasty Kevin - just ugh. I gave Maeve a pass, but so much of Johnny's behavior around this point made me detest him, and I never went back.
  8. This acrid ear candy is, unbelievably, now nearly 30 years old.
  9. That's sad to hear. He was so understated as Grant - such a good foil for Lisa. I loved when he would bemusedly smile at her antics. It's a shame that the worthless hack Goutman had such contempt for Eileen that he didn't bother to bring Grant back at the end. PP is still on Youtube for now.
  10. Oh my at Gordon's comedy fall in court Between that and Chas shrieking I just cringed, rather than being upset. This story is a great example of why modern soaps should not tackle serious issues. They always put stunts and shock above anything else.
  11. Howard Dean. I never understood what it was about that moment that made people turn their back on him. He went on to become chair of the DNC and I'd give anything to have him back. He's a big lobbyist now. A lot of his supporters feel betrayed...likely because they always assumed he was a lot more liberal than he actually was. His campaign had already sort of fizzled before then, probably because so many focused on "electability," and because the media hated him, and because Joe Trippi kind of sucked.
  12. I had no idea Horton was still alive. RIP to him.
  13. I had to skip everything with Aaron/Robert and Andy/Chrissie. I think the way they've used the sexual abuse story for a romantic reunion and more generic Aaron angst is too much, and Andy and Chrissie are so cliched, they have no chemistry, and she's just a pathetic piece of trash. Seeing them whine about Robert is not of interest to me. The whole thing with Doug was odd. Did he really have no idea she'd know it was fake? The best part was probably Chris Chittell's performance reading the letter. He's good at that type of thing. I guess we are back with Leyla and Megan yet again because Leyla will end up with Jai (UGH), but I could do without it. When Megan decided to throw her "stripper" past in her face when Leyla was doing her a favor, I wanted Leyla to just tell her to shove it and walk out. I agree with you about the Ross stuff, but I have to admit that I enjoyed it, probably more than I've enjoyed anything with Ross in almost a year. He and Charity have a good banter between them and were fun to watch. The only weird part is for some reason the hair and makeup people made him look like Rolf Harris (an entertainer who was popular in the UK for generations until he was convicted for sex crimes against children). I guess it wasn't deliberate, but Parr got a lot of comments about it on Twitter.
  14. The only way Shirley knows how to show a baby love is to try to drown it.
  15. Probably the best news of the night: http://www.wkyc.com/news/politics/elections/omalley-wins-county-prosecutor-race/84384109 http://wgntv.com/2016/03/15/kim-foxx-ousts-cook-county-states-attorney-anita-alvarez-in-primary/
  16. I would have more use for that type of talk if he hadn't been spreading hate for the last 6 years.
  17. Jed Allan and Joe Gallison were both interested in playing Alan when they recast in 1994. I think they could have been good (especially Joe - Jed and Marj shouting at each other would have been a little offputting, although the incestuous vibes would have fit given that they played exes on SB).
  18. I've heard of shots from movies or TV shows being used for ads. I guess this is another. If so, how hilarious...and poor Kim Rhodes.
  19. I took it to mean less Val-ish and more that archetype (older woman with acidic barbs). I felt like they lost their way with Val in her last few years so I'm hoping they didn't mean a literal Val... I also agree that the Whites need to GTFO of Home Farm. They've never and will never work there. Characters keep being added in and just keep getting sucked into a black hole. I'd like to just burn it down at this point. With several Whites inside. I just hope someone tells him the show doesn't NEED bitchy cardboard cutouts hissing at each other. Emmerdale isn't that type of show. The only time it was was for a while with Sadie/Charity/Chloe, and you can't recreate that.
  20. What bothered you most? It all seems a bit vague to me. Some I don't like, some I don't mind. I like that he said he wants more friendship and less aggro and hostility. The show needs that a lot. There are some strong friendships that have for some reason withered away, like Adam and Aaron. Some could go either way (like Faith). And I like the sound of Aaron being less miserable, but I'm not sure how that will be onscreen. I just hope they stop writing Charity as a caricature. From what he said I'm not holding my breath. Kate Oates isn't leaving the show in a very good place, and I imagine he will get a lot of the backlash she didn't get because she was popular. It will be Anita Turner all over again, although Anita was a good producer IMO, overall. I'm going to try to hope, because honestly I find the show all but unwatchable lately and have since fall...but I'm aware he could make it even worse.
  21. http://metro.co.uk/2016/03/15/emmerdale-producer-tips-chrissie-white-as-the-next-superbitch-and-teases-a-feud-with-charity-dingle-5750127/ Ugh at the idea of Chrissie being a "superbitch." She's just a dumb bitch. There's a difference. She isn't even Kim Fields, let alone Kim Tate.
  22. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uA9QoCa9Blc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q56YXGb4ODg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw8rpLk7ncs These are the 2004 episodes with Faith, if anyone wants to see them. The 2000 episodes aren’t around.
