This has went viral today, I guess because it fits all the beloved cliches of local British councils being hotbeds of chaos, and there are some fun moments around.

I'd say it's more because this is something that simply can't be remade. Even the original show burned out very quickly. There are many films and dramas about a housewife cracking up - they may as well try one of those. I also feel it's sad to see Louise Lasser's work deemed immaterial enough to be casually remade by some woman on a Pop sitcom. Norman Lear did a good revival of One Day at a Time (frankly, I'd say it was better than the original), but Mary Hartman is a different story.

Yes, but it was done differently in those years than more recent variants. That - and the GL fan fiction of those years (which was mainly centered on Fletcher and Holly but had a lot of other characters) would release episodes 2-3 times a week, and try to write in a script format, used character photos, etc. It helped add a more authentic experience. Sadly all that was wiped long ago. (by the way when I said secretly, I meant Andy was still closeted to his family back in Oakdale, rather than an affair type storyline)

Speaking of Hank, many, many years ago, I'd say mid '90s, there used to be a websoap of ATWT which had living in New York, secretly lovers with Andy. (I think Jeff had also divorced Annie and had had a fling with Hank before Hank got involved with Andy...but it's been an eternity so I may be wrong) The show never would have gone there, of course, but it was an interesting concept.

Here is Nancy Mace, yet another media darling breathlessly hyped as Reasonable and The Future, peddling into the increasingly sick and dangerous hatred the GOP has for AOC. No matter how many times people tell you that Republicans in Congress can be good and pure, it's a lie. They will kick you just as hard as Matt Gaetz or Louis Gohmert or any of that ilk. The only difference is they will wait to do it 5 minutes later and half-heartedly try to make a sad face.

A lot of spin seems to be focusing on how the GOP is not that extreme because they did not boot Liz Cheney, and how the Democrats are going too far and now Republicans will boot progressives from committees if they win the House back. And "unity" talk. Media spin 101. Hopefully people don't buy it. MTG is so repulsive, and lacking in any of Trump's brand of toxic charisma, I am not sure if she will be made into as big a celebrity/martyr as some are claiming, but they will certainly try.

This is a consequence of extreme gerrymandering. Lunatics have more and more power. And the party both is intimidated by these lunatics and exploits them and their cult followers for money and power. The GOP is now using Ilhan Omar to try to make people think Greene has done nothing wrong. Greene is fundraising off of her remarks, and is becoming more and more powerful. Even if Democrats force her off the committees (and I hope they do), the GOP will now use her as a martyr to out of control Democrats. I don't think she will have as much success as Trump did (she isn't as charismatic, she doesn't have the media or PR support he did for decades and still does), but I think this article about the path she's taking is mostly right. Speaking of depressing topics: I wish I could plead with them to not fall for this. They are going to open themselves up to attacks of doing less than Trump and the GOP on checks, even though that isn't even rally true, all while alienating those who were promised 2K and now not only aren't getting 1400, but in many cases will be getting nothing. This type of decision meant to split down the middle just ends up alienating all sides.

I'm glad to see the above. I'm also glad that Biden is apparently not going to seek out the advice of the ABA when it comes to judicial nominees. After the last few years that would just be a waste of time. I really hope they reconsider this type of strategy. College education does not have anything to do with being in a cult (Marjorie Taylor Greene has a degree!). This turns the battle into class warfare and alienates a wide swathe of voters. It is the ultimate consultant strategy, and gives me bad flashbacks to Hillary's campaign people.

I do think the show became much darker. I've already gone on about that before, so no one wants to hear it again. Instead I will ask if anyone knows whether it was Marland who made Barbara and Lucinda enemies, or if that was a strike twist and he just kept it going. Initially I thought the latter, but then I remembered he did have Lucinda buy Barbara's company when she went to prison.

I think there was some flap over Morgan Fairchild's contract at The City, wasn't there?

I would guess a lot of this is Manchin (and possibly Sinema as well). I just hope they think carefully because they could easily end up in a place where they alienate all sides, which they can't afford to do going into 2022. (I am fine with them alienating Republicans in Congress as they are bad faith liars and hypocrites - I mean more the people who need this money even if they don't fit into certain brackets [and I am not sure if adult dependents will qualify and money for younger dependents may be reduced, which will make matters worse]).

I think the man was Kim's boss at WOAK. I may be wrong there though. I remember feeling the scenes of her in the hotel in her bra felt so noirish and out of step with Marland type material (due to the strike I suppose). I think Laura had snapped because she had been kept from her children after her divorce. I really should try to watch the Laura episodes in order sometimes (whatever is around) because I felt like she was initially into Tom, not Bob. The climax of the story was her in Bob and Kim's bedroom, in a nightgown, threatening them with a pair of scissors, I think. SOD named it worst story of 1988.

There's been some backlash because he went to Barbados for Christmas. I guess at his age I can understand why he decided to just take the risk, but I can see why some are unhappy about possible exposure of the people in Barbados who had to help him and his family.

The Russia footage is just horrible, most of all because it is so predictable. Yet so many in this country, especially on the far left, are cheering Putin every step of the way.

I don't even care that much for most of the Saved by the Bell people, but anyone who is going into Twitter to try to badmouth them for being polite (if they ignored Dustin's passing they would be torn apart) is pathetic. If they want to spend their time more productively, they should send some kind thoughts to Lark Voorhies.

MPG does not imply in that tweet that they were close friends, so it's an odd dunk. Anything for likes I guess.

Even after all this time I still see Screech when I hear about Dustin, and all the problems he had. I imagine that is one of the reasons he spiraled the way he did. I'm glad that at least his pain is over.
