Good for Renee. As Neighbours has played out its final months, Tammin Sursok (ex-Colleen, Y&R) has had an extended guest role as a fashion designer. Sursok, of course, got her start on Australian soaps. The role, equal parts passive-aggressive, bitchy, manipulative, in over her head, and occasionally vulnerable, suits her more than Colleen did.

Nice to see more of The Catlins, but beyond the hotel room scenes, which are competent if unremarkable, so much of the rest is just awful, especially the garage scenes.

I agree. The covers and photo shoots for SPW were terrific through a lot of the '90s, especially the first half. I sometimes wonder how much Torchin may have just been burnt out by that point. I still remember how many weeks in her last years writing editorials for SPW she seemed more interested talking about English Patient or primetime shows rather than daytime.

I always assume Marilyn has father issues. I do agree they need to do more with her but I think it's difficult at this point because she is so established and yet has no real family on the show, beyond her bonds with the Stewarts and Irene. I have liked Mac but the poker/debt story has felt endless and mostly just has her looking like a fool. I'm going to miss Ryder. You can tell the show is too - he got a lovely sendoff.

The first few seasons have many strong moments and are much more heartfelt than what you will get later on. I will say a lot depends on how much you can take of Larry Hagman/JR - I was not a huge fan, which is why I've never been as into the show.
