  1. Christine Baranski as well.
  2. With inevitable tweets like these: (he asks people to subscribe to The Nation, which now seems to exist solely for Russia apologias). I don't know who the hell the new Gawker was for - I assume just for very rich people who want to show each other how smart and above it all they are. Unfortunately, they did not have the endless money well that keeps similar sites like Jacobin choking along.
  3. Hearing about DeSantis, new media hero as they realize what an albatross Trump is, ruthlessly destroying so many Florida colleges, and working to lead some in a Democratic coalition against the colleges by parroting the line that he is not against education on the history of blacks in America, it's only those icky queer people who are warping for their own gain, is demoralizing beyond belief.
  4. Cut sketch from the episode.
  5. @Cat I saw that there's a rumor going around of Andy bawling Robyn out on WWHL (not oncamera, I assume), so maybe Bravo really were in the dark...
  6. https://datebook.sfchronicle.com/movies-tv/long-lost-black-made-blaxploitation-film-solomon-king-set-in-oakland-has-been-restored
  7. I never really thought Billy and Sarah had chemistry. I also thought the pairing was lazy. The most interesting part was the whiplash from day to day of which writers tried to push it and which blasted AJ to hell.
  8. I'm so sorry to hear that.
  9. He did a few, but his best years were long gone. Jerry was interviewed a few years before his death, for a podcast; their relationship was just toxic and way too high profile for either of them, in part due to a tell-all book he wrote.
  10. They have a few 2001 episodes up as well.
  11. Michael, and a few of the later cast members (Leslie Easterbrook, Ed Marinaro). I have so many childhood memories of watching Laverne and Shirley repeats that aired in the mornings. I don't want to just associate her with that when she had other known roles and what might have been moments (she was almost cast as Princess Leia), but Shirley Feeney is just such an indomitable sitcom character.
  12. I was only back into GL for his last year, but I suppose it's a testament to him that he made such a poor part work for as long as he did.
  13. I don't watch that show but I've heard almost nothing but raves about it. (I imagine we could make some jokes about Peapack-era GL preparing him for an apocalypse). I liked him on GL, but I always figure most soap actors will fade away. Ever since Looking (which he was also very good in) he's gone from strength to strength.
  14. That "panties are melting" tweet kind of says it all. Leo is just a cheap gay joke to viewers, every stereotype rolled into one, and Ron loves every second of it. Only in a dead genre could one hack's fetish material get through so many different times over the last 10 years. At this point if Ron has never seen Cruising, don't let him know about it.
  15. They're probably right, but it just points out how hollow the Academy is when black actresses have to meet such high standards yet are lucky to ever even get a nomination. This whole thing has been another ugly example of how we should leave the Oscars to the past.
  16. @I Am A Swede One of my favorite ABBA songs! And now one of my favorite Linda Ronstadt songs, recently given a revival due to a TV show I won't be watching.
  17. I see your point, but I'd probably still put the Ewings in a success category in that case - Blaine was written out mostly after a misogynist firing of the key actress and then Christopher Rich quitting the show, and Catlin also left due to the actor wanting out (presumably). Larry and Clarice were let go, but a wide swathe of characters were in those years, unfortunately.
  18. Considering all the upheaval at AW in those years, I'm not sure if the Ewings were a flop. Blaine was a central character for a number of years, and so was Catlin. Larry also seemed well-received enough.
  19. A video (there are several parts, just posting one) of the late Shell Kepler on a home shopping channel.
  20. Awful. The P&G hits keep coming. I always remember her as the little girl, rather than all her tragedies later on (and the ATWT role she seemed out of it during). I hope it was fast and painless. Not sure why they called her ATWT role recurring.
  21. It was unwatchable. I grew to despise any scene with Emily, and by the time they did try to write her more in other material, I just didn't care. She was just verbally abusing people who kept her off the streets, day in and day out. Similar to Lucky verbally abusing Laura and Ned's endless smugging about AJ, Guza was never able to hide his contempt for the characters we were meant to dislike.
  22. I will say that Maureen Garrett's hushed, conflicted "Roger, just get out of here," is one of the saving graces.
  23. The main failing of the scene is the recasts - Roger had no real history with this Mindy or Alex, so when he essentially calls Mindy a good roll in the hay, you don't remember his history with her, as you can't see California Doll in the role. The same for Alex, even if Beverlee probably would have been very loud and out of control as well by that point. The baby was his grandson (I can't remember if he knew), which was probably the most interesting part.
