  1. Trudy would have been a wise choice. I wonder if any at the show even remembered her.
  2. I actually did think Samson had more potential as a character than many other Dingles, at least as he got older, but the show doesn't have any real interest unless you are more closely tied to Cain, Chas and Charity.
  3. That's great news. I always see Plex when I search for shows online but have never had it.
  4. Thanks @slick jones . Cyphers had more soap experience than I realized.
  5. Absolutely, but his years at OLTL always remind me of what can happen when he might have beef with an actor.
  6. I don't disagree, but I still think it's incredibly stupid. I'm sure he doesn't have anything against DZ, as he brought him back after wanting to try other things, but it's a waste. I don't think Lulu and Dante were ever a diehard couple for fans, and GH has successfully moved on even with pairings that had diehard followings. I'd probably even take Dante/Sam, if effort was made, but it's obvious backburner, pick-a-pair material. I just mainly remember the awful entitlement of the character, which was not balanced out in the acting (similar to Joss these days). Months ago that clip was going around of her berating Liz as a slut and a whore, with Liz not allowed to say anything in her own defense, because you knew which was favored by the writing and which wasn't.
  7. JMB was not especially good in the part (she was so bad for a number of years that she tanked a number of stories and love interests in spite of so much being set up for her benefit), and Lulu was never a very popular character in spite of being given so many chances in those years. It's crazy to me they have put so much on hold trying to get her back when she doesn't want to return, especially when DZ is such a talented performer and has just been doing nothing year after year.
  8. The whole idea of Shapiro and how was going to carry PA is such lazy thinking, no wonder the media and Beltway can't get enough. They walk into the easiest narratives, through their own cracked ideals and through naivete. I've lost count of how many have breathlessly repeated the party line about how the GOP is "euphoric" over Walz and how it's sure to be a big gift for the party. I saw that Politico was begging Trump to see this as his "reset." You can tell how much they are waiting to write the comeback narrative and to find the smart, disciplined Trump they have spent a decade trying to will into existence. I imagine there will be a line of attack they can find, with a lot of help, but right now many of the attacks are extreme and proven vote losers (obsessing over trans stuff and abortion) or just bizarre rabbit holes (the China stuff or going on about how veterans won't support him because he didn't want to be deployed to Iraq, blah blah blah).
  9. Oh right - the photo on the iconic best of MAB photo exhibit. I still can't believe we have to type out 'volcano story.'
  10. I'm not surprised and I don't think it makes a huge difference (some might say the media treatment of Biden hurt him but I think that was the debate more than anything else), but this election has really shown just how much the bias and grudges of the media, including those that were seen by some liberals as reliable, bleeds into coverage. You can feel how much some like Kornacki resent Harris' VP pick - all the strained attempts to remind us of 2022 margins. All this is just starting.
  11. Didn't they already have a story where Sharon was doing things she normally wouldn't, like when she married Victor? Didn't they say it was some type of illness? I can't remember. They should just bring that back if necessary.
  12. This is so grim, much more than I had expected it to be based on the recaps. The final shot is somewhat haunting. I don't understand who decided this was what the ATWT audience wanted to see. And all for a story that was almost immediately forgotten and a character never mentioned again. At least they were able to shoot it on location, which wouldn't be the case as the years passed.
  13. Charles Cyphers Dead: 'Halloween' Actor Was 85 (deadline.com) Cyphers played Bertram Pogue in two episodes.
  14. I never really got that feeling early on, although I haven't watched the episodes in a long time. I thought they had a natural connection that eroded over time. Val and Karen never felt as natural to me. Any time characters have to remind us what good friends they are, I am wary.
  15. Can't remember if I saw this promo before or not. Probably did and just forgot it.
  16. I don't think so but I am not totally sure. If she's still active I wish someone could interview her. I would like to know whether it's true that she quit or if she was fired. And thanks for the article @Paul Raven I know Obsolete Video uploaded a 1978 episode. I do wonder how much else they aren't uploading.
  17. Now that you mention it, the Reade stuff did start with the dead end left. Those aspects, or opportunistic members of Congress, will always be a factor. The best to hope for is more people are standing up to the lies.
  18. I've never seen it but others may have. The closest I've seen is one from about 1972, which was in B&W due to the condition of the tape.
  19. I imagine the GOP will makes these types of insinuations, but they will do that with anyone who supports equality. The alternative is for Democrats to go back to reminding us how anti-gay they are. I agree with you the GOP is going to come up with a smear. They had incredibly vile smears against Biden, including claims that he abused his daughter. I don't think they ever reached the public in any meaningful way (just as the Tara Reade claims never did), but they probably still see it as a win and are plotting for more. Beyond the usual I remember some people who took issue with some claims she made about her bio - I think she may have claimed she caught a baby and saved it from death...and she also claimed to be a faith healer who laid hands on a child, causing him to be able to walk, and laid hands on another person, causing their tumors to shrink.
  20. How many decades have they had that blazer in the back of the wardrobe?
  21. To be honest, I always thought Budig looked older than her age, but this is still ludicrous casting. I can't imagine what Taylor fans must feel as it's clear Brad Bell has zero value for the character. If they're going to hire AMC actresses who are too young for the part, why not just cast Alicia Minshew? Is she still acting?
  22. It's funny you mention Ferrell and Sudeikis as Lorne Michaels, or maybe NBC, have some kind of policy about male cast members not being allowed to have mustaches or beards. The last who did were Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd. One reason may be all the wigs and makeup, but I would guess a big reason is down to the question of sleaze. When mustaches made something of a comeback in recent years, the line was they were now for hipsters. One of the only politicians I've seen of late sporting one is a Republican running for the Senate in Wisconsin. On him, it's a porn look, although I guess fascist porn is a kink for many. When it comes to ATWT, other than Brad, I mostly associate mustaches with: - characters who were mostly off the show by that point (Duke in his last return, and Cal Stricklyn while he was dating Susan) - John, who probably got away with it because he was out of the romantic leading men stage (even if he had some very strong stories at that time) - and of course, above all else, this absolute beauty:
  23. I thought she was OK as Lizzie - they had made the character so dark when she was younger, and had also gone too far with Philip, that having a lighter but still scheming touch made some sense. It's not as if the Spauldings were a very dynamic family by that point. Rylan had a certain spark at times, even with Daniel Cosgrove. Abby and Lulu are both dead end roles no matter who is in them. The best Lulu was the girl with the brown hair who was mute for about 8 years. Julie Marie Berman was just unwatchable and unbearably smug, and Rylan was...there. Given the state of most women on modern GH, I don't expect much better here, although ideally, she will manage to find a balance between being asleep and being a huge, entitled bitch. That is very rare with the show now though.
