You make a lot of good points. Many times I feel like I am too hard on those years. I should go back and look I guess - it's just tough because your memories of that time are so strong, and in some ways you don't want to go back and change them, because in the long run memories of soaps are often what you hold onto most dearly, the good and the bad.

Is it me or does the show kind of see blinding somebody as no big deal at all? That's the main reason why all the focus on bullying has always confused me - the villains are always sanctified and treated as good people (Santana, Karofsky, Sebastien, etc.).

I was thinking of the six months to a year before Bianca returned to the canvas. At the time this was seen as a return to old AMC, before McTavish ran riot, but it just didn't do a lot for me. I liked some of the David/Erica story (especially when they moved on from "oh my looks gone forever"), I liked viperous Vanessa, and I liked some of the story where Marian was tempted by high society. I also liked that they didn't put Opal/Palmer back together. None of the rest worked for me, and the stuff which didn't work (crazy Janet, Hayley/Mateo/Ryan, the pie in the face for Adam, Dixie's miscarriage) really bothered me. I guess it also depended on how you felt about Greenlee.

I can see that being Passanante, or an ABC mandate. This was also around the time Mateo poured Hayley a drink and we were supposed to still love him. Ugh. I think the only solid story at the time was David/Erica.

I mention that in the music and movies thread. The lack of reality bewilders me. People are going to be surprised it's a comedy? What else do Burton and his muggers do? EVERYTHING is a bad joke. Oh look, Johnny Depp is pulling silly faces again! It just spits on the source material of anything they touch. What a horrible way to remember a great show, and a show that, for all its flaws, was taken very seriously by the actors. Not treated as a guffawfest, the way Depp, Helena Botham Carter, and the others treat it. I find it hard to believe Depp or Burton ever watched the show at all.

They made Janet crazy again even during Mattson's last year, although she did have a rushed "happy ending" with an offcamera Trevor. At the time I kind of felt like AMC's new direction was mostly just a pretty bandaid - I felt little connection to most of the stories, and some of them (like Dixie's miscarriage, and the endless smug Jake, and firing Belinda) annoyed me a lot. By the time of the candy cane I had taken a powder.

Whitney was born before EON's Geraldine was created. I'm not sure who it could be.

Wasn't she trying to protect someone she thought did it (Craig or Steve)?

I can't see Beck working as Sloan at all.

These are a few small times from some TV News issues of 1985 and 1986. I wonder how many casually reading this Constance Towers interview would assume David Mason Daniels was her love interest or know he was already off the show by this time.

Marcus Lovett (ex-Wayne Manning, ATWT) subbed for Ed Fry (Larry McDermott, ATWT) for 3 days in early-mid August 1994, due to illness.

Wayne Northrop tested for Josh Fallon on DAYS, as initially they wanted older actors for Roman. Kimberly Beck auditioned for Sloan on Capitol.
