I was shocked to read that Kay Hagan, a Democratic senator from North Carolina, announced her support for gay marriage. North Carolina is a state that is trending more socially conservative in elections, and she's up for reelection in 2014. There seems to have been some big shift in the DLC/Beltway arena recently regarding gay marriage. I know polls are showing more support for gay marriage (around 50-60%, give or take, depending on the wording of the poll), but I still assumed most of the Democrats who supported it would be in liberal areas. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2013/03/27/kay-hagan-becomes-latest-senator-to-endorse-gay-marriage/ Meanwhile, there's speculation about whether the Supreme Court will strike down DOMA, or whether they will even hear the case at all (or the Prop 8 case). Thanks for all the extra details. You're right. It's an especially big contrast with EON's female characters, who were by and large all very strong (yet human) in late 1979. The women and men in these LOL episodes remind me of today's soaps. That's not a compliment. If they were writing Meg out soon I wonder where that story was leading.

Those scenes with Mia and Ben were...not very good, to say the least. I can see why someone said Veleka Gray was miscast in that role. It's tough to watch her. Was Meg in the hospital at the same time as Betsy? The Meg story is a little hysterical but seems interesting. I'm disturbed by how physical the men are with the women. Ben almost chokes Mia. The way the men behave is just excessive.

That guy who played Robert basically told people he was going to be acquitted. Not very subtle. The first article only has half (I guess that's all there was to scan?). Sean Steel was the one who was murdered? These types of "he's gay/bi cheating on her with a man" stories all start to bore me. The heart attack story is different. I felt a little sorry for the actor having that unflattering heart attack face photo in the article.

It's so interesting reading here and then you go to some other boards and it's pure Brandi hate and Adrienne pity, and negative comments about Lisa, etc. I wonder if there's any housewife who is universally liked (I guess there are a few who are universally loathed).

It's so hard to tell all Pete's women apart. If you already posted those articles, I'll go back and look, but what happened with Charlotte? They didn't sleep together, right? I didn't know the woman who played Belinda was only 23. Wow. Every time I read about that threesome it cracks me up. Was Dave Matthews not popular in the UK? Weird seeing a character with his name, as I think he was still fairly popular in the US at this time.
