You summed it up well. I think there was also manpain overload. Glenn/Rick/Daryl/Tyreese all bleed into each other at times. I wish they'd go back to some of what Glenn was in the first season - geeky, and a strategist.

ALL: Temporary Replacements
There's a ton of dramatic potential in a story about someone who says they're gay realizing they're bi, but it's something that I don't believe any soap - US or otherwise - has managed to tell believably. I think they built Reese up too much as Bianca's ideal love, and then the baby Bianca had with Zach, and it was overkill. I also thought it was tacky to get press about the first gay wedding on a soap when one of the brides was falling for a man. I think Tamara probably was a better fit for what Carly was becoming, but generally I think she's never really had a soap role that fit her. The first one on DAYS might be the closest.

I think the "manpain" story Glenn had in the back half of the season was better on paper than onscreen. It was just strangely one-note. I always hear people talk about who they hate on TWD and how so and so needs to die, but the only non-villain character I've ever disliked on TWD was Dale, as I thought he was a very forced character, one of those who is there to be all-knowing and profound, without ever establishing why we should care. If I had to put in order, it would be... 1. Rick 2. Michonne 3. Hershel 4. Carol 5. Maggie 6. Daryl Those flip around a lot.

I like Maggie a lot too, she's probably my third or fourth favorite, or fifth (I don't dislike anyone on the show, except The Governor). Her entrance annoyed me, it was too fakey TV, but everything after that was great.

That's interesting about Daryl. I like Daryl, and I think Norman Reedus is wonderfully talented, but I think sometimes the character is too overhyped and the show would make a mistake if they gave him too much of a role. This makes me think I'm right. That's also interesting about Lori. I wonder if Lori is one of those characters women were more likely to hate. Aside from one woman, everyone I've known who liked Lori was a man.

Is the show still on the air?

I like Martin-Green too - I think she is a more interesting character than Tyreese, so far, although I like him as well; I'm mostly just feeling like there are too many characters in the mix who are similar to Tyreese. It's one of the reasons the occasional heel like Merle is a good addition to the mix. A part of me wishes they hadn't made Tomas, that prison guy who got a machete to the head, so evil, and that he had stayed around as a contrast to Rick. It's also nice to see the show slowly moving away from the quota system of the first few seasons, probably reaching a low point when T-Dog had to give a Very Important speech about being the only black person in the group (then barely speaking for the rest of the reason). I'd like to see this keep changing, as the alternative meant moments like fans questioning if the group's treatment of Michonne was due to her being black. I'd love to see Rick/Michonne, not sure if the show will try it. That scene in the finale where they were on their way out of the prison and he was very casually, almost unknowingly, flirting with her and checking her out - it was a side to Rick that we almost never see. I almost wrote a fic about it. Now I know how those Daryl/Carol people feel.

Did you get to read those articles about the original filmed scenes with Andrea? I agree about the Survivors comparison - I think it's something TWD does well with when they slow down the pace enough. I think Rick works better in this capacity than as too crazy or too dark. TWD is a few different shows in one. I think the idea of the prison as a home, and a farm, is not a bad one, if they write it properly. I'd say this would be a real chance to have the characters split into groups and explore different parts of the country, or even different parts of the state. What did you think of that new woman, Karen (with the asthmatic son)? I hope they're not just bringing her in to be with Rick. I think the Carl shooting scenes were supposed to be more ambiguous, or negative about Carl's actions, than they came across onscreen.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Of all the people to get their own shows on Bravo I think Sheree would have been one of the more interesting cases, because she would have been trying so hard to sell a certain image, and likely would have had a meltdown when the sham was exposed. I think that side of her is more interesting than the fighting with the other women.

Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)
Kim was wonderful as Nola. I hated Owen. He was the only character on the show I disliked at this point.

ALL: Temporary Replacements
I thought he was a temp mostly because they had to recast in a hurry and wrote him out in a hurry. Fitzpatrick was fired right after some sort of controversy and accusations involving a waitress at Planet Hollywood, I think.

Thanks. I wish we could see this.

Hopefully that will be up again soon. I also love some of the scenes put up recently where Katherine goes nuts after she runs into Clint Radison. Jeanne hams it up something fierce, in a way only she can. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-eurkMsYi8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpWCVenGgPg

Young Doctor Malone
Thanks for the extra details on show aired in Australia. I would be so happy if any of that was left in Australia. Even in one episode. I guess it was all wiped, but I think there were some Australian prints of Doctor Who discovered.

I'm having a problem with videobash lately so I apologize for putting so many videos here. Brenda's first day back as Jill. She already had that haughtiness in her voice. I wonder if this was how Deborah was playing her by the end? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Va42rYRUHJE Nina Arvesen's channel is putting up some short clips I don't remember seeing before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1SJMu9cXEQ

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
At TWOP I kept seeing people say Phaedra threatened to assault Kenya first, so I don't know how many viewers sympathized with her. I guess at least no one is throwing sinks.

Doctor Who
I never felt like Rose was a real character, I thought she was a huge Mary Sue. Amy's parents were not used and she was given too many stories where she was used and abused (the infertility story was especially unnecessary) but somewhere in season 6 I began to see her as real. I watched JLC on Emmerdale when she was on the show. 2008, 2009. Her last story, a tense murder mystery and romantic reunion with Debbie, was very well done.

I don't know for sure but I read that this was all filmed before the episodes aired. Does anyone know? If that's the case, then I think they had already decided to kill her before the viewers got upset with her. I think her being close to Frank Darabont might have been a factor. It's tough to say. All I know is that they said she was not planned to die until suddenly they changed this near the end.

Did you ever watch any of Jenna Louise Coleman on Emmerdale? If not you should try to look for the clips of her story with Debbie.

Doctor Who
Amy and Martha made their own choices. They were both infatuated with the Doctor but over time stopped allowing themselves to be defined by him. Martha left and didn't look back. Martha did what she had to do to keep the world, or the galaxy, safe, whether the Doctor liked it or not. Amy was torn between "normal" life and time travel, but this was because of love of time travel as much as her bond with the Doctor. When Amy had to make the choice, she chose her husband, and was very happy and fulfilled for the rest of her life, instead of clinging to the Doctor's memory as a security blanket. Donna's choices were ripped away from her and she was seen through the sad, patronizing eyes of the Doctor and her grandfather. Her "happy" ending was being reset back to zero and finding a good man. Rose's entire identity was about the Doctor, with the dubious reward of a knockoff of The Doctor. Not even getting into River. The Third Doctor gave some lectures but he was also very fond of UNIT. Ten mostly just lectured with no real affection or complexity, and when he was reminded that he used people as weapons far more than anyone else ever could, the most we got was the trademark David Tennant sadface, all quickly forgotten.

Doctor Who
It's the tone of the scenes, more than anything else - it's all very dreamlike and how she is this precious creature he must unravel. She has no person. I'm getting a little weary of this, and things like River saying the Doctor only wants you when you're young and pretty. I'm not as into the "RTD wrote awesome women and Moffat is a sexist" as some fans are - in the long run I think Amy was the most progressive female companion of the revival, tied with Martha. But I want to see women as people, not as puzzles, or broken dolls. I did like UNIT's involvement. I'm glad they are back as a force for good instead of the whole self-righteous lecture Ten gave them about how they love war. Stuff like that made me grow to dislike him.

Doctor Who
I heard a little about it. It's not just seeing her as a child - it was all the stuff keeping watch outside her house, standing over her as she was passed out at the table. I think Moffat sees this as a fairy tale aspect (which the fifth season emphasized quite a bit in the early episodes). At the time I wasn't bothered but this is the third time, and it's not the charm for me. I just think it makes the Doctor seem weird.
