  3. From Chris Schemering's Soap Encyclopedia Moment Of Truth January 4, 1965 - November 5, 1965 Before winning two Emmys for Outstanding Actor as Mac Cory on Another World, Douglass Watson starred in this NBC serial taped in Toronto. Watson played Dr. Robert Wallace, a professor and pyshologist who found himself in the midst of social and romantic conflicts in a small Canadian twon. Moment of Truth aired for a half hour at 2:00 P.M., E.S.T, opposite anothe loser, Flame in the Wind. It was replaced by the smash hit Days of Our Lives. Dr. Robert Wallace - Douglass Watson Nancy Wallace - Louise King Johnny Wallace - Michael Dodds Shelia Wallace - Barbara Pierce Jack Williams - Stephen Levy Vince conway - Peter Donat Dr. Russell Wingate - Ivor Barry Monique Wingate - Fernande Giroux Dr. Gil bennett - John Bethune Barbara Harris - Mira Pawluk Linda Harris - Anna Hagan Dexter - Chris Wiggins
  4. Jeff had before this guilted or forced her into marrying him, I think (I can't remember), then kidnapped her, was put in a mental institution, and after befriending Trucker's sister Rocky, escaped. He was hiding at Trisha's bridal shower (using an invitation he'd stolen from Rocky) to kidnap her. Curtis and the other guy saved her.
  5. That's a lovely thought. She talks about him in many articles.
  6. Chip Albers has been putting up more clips, including a little of the climax of Jeff Hartman's story. Poor Trisha - what awful hair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKwQuRkSSHE
  7. Either one of you. Thanks.
  8. I wish I could see that Laura/Iris scene. Do you think the characters remained true to who they'd been when Donna and Leslie were in the roles?
  9. That was a fun time. I remember when she was dating the motorcycle guy, Buzz, with the immortal line of dialogue, "I dig Buzz! He digs me!" I wasn't fond of the early Carolyn stories, with Burke, but that story made her come into her own.
  10. Keegan was a classic example of the worst of modern Corrie - abrasive and nasty instead of likeable or interesting, and somehow the show mistook this as "strong" or "feisty."
  11. All I can see is that photo is that Kathy needs Spanx.
  12. That's hilarious. Don't know if you saw it but someone uploaded some clips of when Mason told CC about Channing not being his son.
  13. I don't think Nancy Barrett suited ingenue roles - she was best with more vibrant parts. Moltke played Vicky with a lot of strength, but also had the innocence. The dream curse story was a good example, as she kept holding onto the dream, through force of will, because she didn't want to hurt Barnabas. I thought the present-day writing on DS was poor for most of the years after 1967. The one exception would probably be the era of the Quentin haunting storyline. That was also the only time Maggie didn't seem to just be a victim in those years. I know KLS was supposed to play Samantha originally, but I wonder how Moltke would have been in the role (although I LOVED Virginia Vestoff and am so happy she got the part).
  14. Groves as Rachel Drummond would have been a good idea - KLS did well but it was also a little too overusing of the "oh wow she looks like Josette", especially since Kitty, her next role, was a reincarnation of Josette. Apparently Ron Sproat had begun writing the story in a way that implied Vicky was Liz's daughter (I read this in a DS book from the early 90s), but that never came to fruition, I guess because Moltke and the show parted ways. You can see a few hints before the wedding episodes.
  15. If anyone wanted to read the rest of that Barbara Beckel interview, I added the last page. Sorry about that. Thanks for the extra details, everyone. I've seen a few other bits on Johnstone, can't remember if they mention his personal life.
  16. Thanks. Did you see that video someone did as a joke for April Fool's, that made it look like Mason and Eden were a couple?
  17. October 1974 TV Radio Mirror TV Moonlighting column CHANGE ON LIFE: There's much excitement brewing on the Love of Life set these days. First, there'll be the introduction of some talented young actors and actresses in the coming episodes. One you'll be seeing is Oliver Crawford, who'll portray one of Betsy Crawford's (Elizabeth Kemp) brothers. He'll be making his debut on the soap later this summer...Sally Stark (Kate Swanson Phillips) has been traveling to Atlanda and Chicago with Forrest Compton of The Edge of Night on a major publicity junket for the coming fall season. With her is hubby Ron Harper (formerly of Where The Heart Is) promioting his new CBS show Planet of the Apes in which he'll have a starring role along with Roddy McDowell...And says Tom de Villiers, associate producers of LOL, "Many former favorites will be returning for short stints."...And if you're a music buff, you'll enjoy the recently recorded Love of Life theme ("The Life That You Live"). The twenty-piece orchestra was conducted by Vladimir Selensky in the same studio where Mary Stuart recorded her hit album.
  18. I know what you mean. I wish they'd had even more, but what they sometimes surprises me.
  19. That sounds unfortunate. Marcus seemed to have a knack for distasteful rape-and-pregnancy stories.
  20. They would have had Durkin back if she'd been available? Yikes. I loved Moltke and I think she made Victoria all she was, with her weird mix of intelligence and naivete, but Groves was also perfectly fine in her few appearances. I wish they hadn't given up on Vicky, as, while I liked Maggie, she didn't work in that type of role.

  24. November 1963 TV Radio Mirror Earl Wilson's column Carolyn was the last Victoria Winters - I think if they'd cast her instead of Ruth Buzzi Vicki (#2), the character might have stayed around.
