Went to great lengths to make sure he stayed dead, down to showing his corpse for an extended period of time.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
The Cokers are just unbearable. I think most of DTC's new characters are, in one way or another. It's ironic because Donna was probably the most hated of his creations but I think she's the one who has now settled in. I haven't watched yet but I saw that he and Ben are making out on his first day, so I guess DTC is making up for lost time since Ben/Johnny didn't happen.

Thanks. I think I watched some of that on Oakdalian a while back - seeing that again always reminds me of how they botched it up. It's too bad.

I always get confused as to whether he returned in '96 or '97.

Love Mari Jo. I wish they'd done more with her. I enjoy Tylo as Rick too, even if it would have been annoying over time. One thing Y&R had at this point, as they did earlier with Nina Arvesen and to a point Eileen Davidson, was some great noir-esque ladies - Brenda Epperson and Diana Barton could both have starred in some of the best noir films and hold up well. It's a shame Epperson left and Barton was fired not long after, especially as the lack of fresh blood in the female department meant they had to lean so much on Phyllis.

It seems like Bell lost a lot of interest in Nathan by the time of Purdee's late run. I do wonder what would have happened if Randy Brooks had stayed, but he mostly just reacted to things. The 1995 episodes hold up better than I remember feeling at the time, although the repetitive Bell dialogue and emphasis (Drake, the vanishing Matt Clark BFF, calling Nick "rich boy" 500000 times in one scene) still grate. I've always been a Nikki fan but geez is she annoying there. No wonder the soap magazines were trashing her at that time.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
I would think at this point she's too much of a legal liability, but Andy or whoever seems to think the show can't function without Kim and Brandi.

Someone in the comments section (my first comment...something else to check off my box) said the second episode I posted was December 5, Episode #5755. Here's the next one. I checked multiple times to see what footage I'm missing, but I uploaded all I had. Sorry about that. After that I just have one more partial episode. Again if anyone has the full I'll be happy to take these down or what have you.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
At first I thought that said Troy Beyer and thought, "Dominique would have something to say about this." I haven't watched tonight's yet but I have to laugh at how they use Robert to move these plots along - they'd be so foolish if they get rid of him. I hope this won't ruin Rakesh.

I think some of the magazines at the time said she quit to get married.

Cass was a suspect in that murder. That was the irony of Donna's scheming against Sally - Cecile was far more formidable in "taking" Peter away from her, which she didn't realize until too late. I've enjoyed almost all I've seen of 1983 (which admittedly isn't a ton). The show feels cohesive and fresh to me, and developing its own unique style, in a way that it struggled with before and after.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I think he was clean-shaven in the Amish story. I always felt like there was more of an idea of the show being all about Reva than there was a reality, with some exceptions like the clone story. Maybe this changed after I quit watching for good (2003 or 2004), but during times like 1996, I felt like Wendy Moniz was in my face 5 days a week. Later on this became the mob, San Cristobel, etc.

Never saw her on ATWT but I remember her from I've Got A Secret and Knots Landing. Sorry to hear she's gone.

It's tough, because I think Matt di Angelo gets too much stick at times, but I just can't really watch any of his stories now. It's the rape, yes, but more than anything it's the odious "mother's love" trope with Shirley where we're supposed to cry for her because her sons are at war and she just wants everyone to be happy (on her terms), and isn't this sad. I dread Shabnam being her next target. I thought Tiana had some potential, especially after Lucas came around. The drug story was terrible, but she wasn't bad at the end. She also had a lot more chemistry with Scott Maslen than Sam Womack ever did, but we know that wasn't happening. I like Kim and I think Tameka's done a great job over the years, especially since her return, but you see the show working hard (for now anyway) to increase her role, and Denise is still just there, not even able to get a job, much less anything else. And it's such a waste. I couldn't help comparing her, just sitting there, with Ellen Thomas hamming it up on Friday, and it just made me wonder why DTC can't use an actress who was already there and who has done so much with scraps. - Loving/The City Discussion Thread
