  1. I saw a bit of today's show and rolled my eyes that yet again Ste is back on drugs...do they just repeat the same three stories for him over and over again? Why are people supposed to care about him or care that annoying, worthless Sinead needs him, or that her idiot cousin trots along behind her like a mule come to life? This is one show where porn fics would be better to watch than the actual material onscreen.
  2. That's great. Always happy to hear she gets work. Did you hear any more about the news that is supposedly going to come out? I hope it wasn't the thing with Jenna Coleman and Prince Harry.
  3. Robert can be ugly and petty, but in this case it's mostly out of protecting his sister. And he was right - Adam made everything far worse. It's just he is terrible at communicating and presenting himself. I think Robert can be a decent guy at times, but the show would rather use him as a plot device/plot mover, boo hiss, and all the rest. But I think in this case his heart is in the right place. Val and Brenda have a bad history because Brenda dated Eric when Val and Eric were split up a few years back. I like Brenda too but I sometimes wish they'd put her in another story.
  4. Given how unpleasant Eileen is, it's difficult to care. I don't know if anyone can top David, who was a real hellion for 2-3 years. The whole thing is so trite, but hopefully it's over. Maybe he can seduce Billy now.
  5. Episode dubbed into Turkish.
  6. Watching a December 1968 Doctors episode, it made me smile when Matt said to get Dr. Coleridge on the phone.
  7. Somebody uploaded this 1987 or 1988 (?) episode, which is dubbed into Turkish.
  8. Yes, he did, although that often isn't my type of body. But he did look good. I kind of hope they figure out what to do with his hair, but overall he's probably the new character I've most enjoyed on EE in ages. That will only magnify if he continues to humiliate his odious grandfather.
  9. It would have been an interesting idea, although I can't see it being allowed on that scale. I do wish they'd tried, rather than just endless serial killer stories.
  10. The Allo Allo theme is one of the most beautiful and haunting of any sitcom (even with the applause over it).
  11. Tracey looks the same. That hair color doesn't suit Kacey. BetterForgotten, I wondered if you'd seen the last few episodes - it's probably some of the better material I've seen for Sharon since her return. Sadly, it's ended already, but I really enjoyed it. And I think Letitia Dean's given some strong performances. The bit where she used Kathy's memory to force Phil into fessing up was great. I know it won't last but I enjoy seeing Paul Coker skewer repulsive Les, and make that hammy Claudette squirm too. I also like that Paul is a bit of a stirrer and isn't just there to be Ben's boyfriend. Abi - pathetic. I almost pity her. Cindy story - pretty close to unwatchable. The Bobby story just isn't working for me. I don't believe him as a threat to the family - the kid actor just can't pull it off, and it feels melodramatic and one-dimensional (just constant refrains of "I want everyone to be happy [pause for evil hint]"). I hate that yet again Ian and Jane want a baby they should not have. I have serious mixed feelings about Mimi Keene. I think she has great potential. She feels so unpolished - sometimes this works (like in live week), but she was abysmal in the scene with Carol and Liam, with that awful crying and shouting.
  12. Whose work do you think holds up better from that period - Brian Parks or Jane McNaughton (isn't she the one who replaced him and did all the social issue stories, or did someone else have a role in-between)? I wonder if part of it is whoever was running ITV's soaps at the time. Sadly these days they just seem to be run into the ground.
  13. Thanks. It's not very respectful IMO.
  14. Thanks. A brief mention would have been nice for the actress and her memory. Did Maud have an exit?
  15. The Tracy and Deirdre parts cracked me up. You can't really poke gentle fun at the show now, because it has lost so much of its heart and individuality. Did Phyllis Pearce have an exit?
  16. Thanks for sharing that article. I hope I get to see that story someday.
  17. Do you think that helped him get the GL job? Mart was such a handsome man.
  18. Oh, that was probably the only camp part - "I need to find Elizabeth!" (ask Fred Sanford where she is) although he was hamming it up deliberately. I was also shocked that they actually mentioned things like Lockerbie and Hillsborough. The Lockerbie one in particular, as some felt this was too soon after Lockerbie. And "It's raining flowers." Sad. It's also nice to see Viv before she became such a caricature (although I always liked her no matter what). There are still traces of this Emmerdale today, but I'm wary of a lot of scenes of Val getting the vapors and saying, "You left me on me tod!" for a week as Eric cowers in the background. Anyway, I finally watched the first of today's double. Not very well written, but Charlotte Bellamy just...so fearless. Laurel is a nightmare and she isn't trying to soften it at all. It's also borderline camp, but it's entertaining. I laughed when she asked if they were doing the "forgiveness thing" for Victoria. I needed that with Kelly Cramer on OLTL back when she killed Blair's baby.
  19. Yeah - UK soaps had had some stunts before this (fires and tram crashes on Corrie) but this one did change things. And as you said, it had real after-effects. I remember those Collinson boosters going on about how Corrie's 2010 tram crash had long-term affects, but they amounted to a boring Peter/Carla affair that destroyed the characters and Kevin having a kid that did not become relevant to the plot until 2015, a whopping 5 years later. Having them talk about war and actually naming terrorist groups is something else I doubt would happen today. Notice that they also didn't allow anyone to camp it up, as you'd get on a soap now. It was good to see so much of the more vulnerable side of Kim here. I think that's one of the reasons she was so popular - Claire King always played that, even as Kim later became a huge bitch. I'm also reminded of what a loss Leah Bracknell's (Zoe) exit was to the show, even if she'd been played out by the time she went.
  20. Some 25th anniversary promos I'd never seen before, and some other cool ads. Mac kicking down the door made me laugh. The Sharlene/John promo is gorgeous.
  21. That's just embarrassing. I guess Lifetime deliberately makes these terrible so they can get attention and people can hate watch, but it's cheap and embarrassing. Cute video of Scott and Chris Evans.
  22. SOD shaded the hell out of Iva throughout her run on the show. It's too bad this new look and new happy life lasted for about a month...
