  1. Just days after the show returned for its third season on ABC, the network has renewed “Abbott Elementary” for a fourth season, it was announced on Saturday during the network’s presentation at the 2024 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena, California. During the show’s second season, “Abbott Elementary” delivered a 3.56 rating in Adults 18-49 after 35 days of viewing across platforms, marking the strongest season average for an ABC comedy since the 2019-2020 season and ranking as ABC’s No. 1 multiplatform series. The series stars series creator Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, Janelle James as Ava Coleman, Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, William Stanford Davis as Mr. Johnson, and Emmy Award winner Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard. Brunson, who recently took home the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, serves as the show’s executive producer alongside Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker of Delicious Non-Sequitur Productions, Randall Einhorn and Brian Rubenstein. In next week’s all-new episode, entitled “Gregory’s Garden Goofballs,” Gregory hesitates when kids start hanging out in his classroom at lunch, looking to him for advice as the “cool teacher.” Meanwhile, Barbara is shocked to find Tariq is dating the mother of one of her students. Janine and Jacob try to hire an ASL interpreter for a student in Jacob’s classroom. Airing Wednesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, the series is available to stream next day on Hulu. 2. Ahead of the network’s broadcast of “Super Bowl LVIII” on Sunday, February 11, CBS has released an early look at its customized promos for some of its new and returning shows, including “Ghosts,” “Tracker,” “Fire Country and So Help Me Todd.” The spots were custom-made to air during the big game as the culmination of the network’s campaign for CBS Premiere Week, which kicks off with the debut of “Tracker” after the game. “Super Bowl LVIII” CBS Sports “There’s a lot of really great creative running during the Super Bowl, so our job is to stand out in a way that’s uniquely CBS but authentically represents the shows,” said Mike Benson, president and chief marketing officer at CBS. “I think we’ve achieved that in partnering with the writers and stars on ‘Ghosts,’ ‘Fire Country’ and ‘So Help Me Todd’ to shoot these fun new scripted promos that are in the authentic voices of their shows and characters. And ‘Tracker’s super-sized [60 seconds] spot features Alicia Keys’ rousing song “Underdog,” to ensure we grab people’s attention about the show and its post-game debut.” In the spot for “Ghosts,” the spirits have an amusing meta moment watching and reacting to the classic feature film “Ghost” alongside Sam and Jay (Rose McIver and Utkarsh Ambudkar) while also discussing why they believe Woodstone Mansion would be a lot more fun for them if Jay were a ghost too. The “Fire Country” spot is set to run during half-time and is inspired by the motivational locker-room talks given by coaches to their players during a tough match-up. It features creator and star Max Thieriot taking the audience on an emotional ride as he depicts what goes through the minds of our heroes the moment they face the fire. The spot was directed by Cole Walliser, who has over 20 million fans across social media and is well known for directing the red carpet Glambot. The aforementioned “Tracker” spot showcases lead Justin Hartley (“The Young and the Restless,” “Passions”) and features a remixed version of Alicia Keys’ song “Underdog,” composed by Scott Icenogle and Lior Rosner. As for “So Help Me Todd,” series stars Marcia Gay Harden and Skylar Astin get a little carried away as they try to describe their show in 15 seconds! “Ghosts” and “So Help Me Todd” air on Thursdays on CBS, with new episodes premiering Thursday, February 15. “Fire Country” premieres with all new episodes starting Friday, February 16. Following its showcase after the big game, “Tracker” moves to Sunday nights with all-new episodes starting Sunday, February 18. Below, check out the customized CBS Super Bowl spots for “Ghosts,” “So Help Me Todd,” “Tracker” and “Fire Country.” “Tracker” (Sundays, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT) “Ghosts” (Thursdays, 8:30 p.m. ET/PT) “Fire Country” (Fridays, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT) “So Help Me Todd” (Thursdays, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT) Note: The post CBS Releases Super Bowl Promos for New and Returning Primetime Shows Ahead of Big Game, Including ‘Tracker’ and ‘Ghosts’ appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 3. Steve Harvey will return as host of “Celebrity Family Feud” while Ken Jennings is back for more “Jeopardy! Masters” as both game shows have been renewed for new seasons set to air later this year on ABC, the network announced today. Additionally, Myeshia Mizuno, who also serves as showrunner on the unscripted courtroom comedy series “Judge Steve Harvey” has been named the new showrunner for “Celebrity Family Feud.” In announcing the show’s 10th season on the network, ABC also revealed that two specials will also air later this year in celebration of the iconic show, such as “Family Feud: Decades of Laughs” and “Family Feud: The Best of Steve Harvey,” which highlights some of the best moments from both the syndicated and primetime shows throughout the years. Viewers can expect the game show and specials to air this summer on ABC and stream the next day on Hulu. Produced by Fremantle, Mizuno is the showrunner and executive producer of “Celebrity Family Feud.” As for “Jeopardy! Masters,” Jennings (aka “G.O.A.T.”) returns for another tournament-style season to air later this spring. As before, each hourlong episode will showcase some of the highest-ranked current “Jeopardy!” contestants, with two action-packed and high-stakes games. The full field of contestants competing for the coveted title of “Jeopardy! Masters” Champion will be announced at a later date. Masters” is executive produced by Michael Davies. Note: The post ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ and ‘Jeopardy! 4. ABC and the Television Academy announced today that “The 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards” will air LIVE coast to coast from the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. EDT/5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. PDT. Although a host and producers for the telecast have yet to be decided upon, the network and the organization noted that those details will be announced at a later date. Further, Hulu will be the streaming home for ABC’s telecast, which will become available on the service the next day. Nominations for “The 76th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards” will be announced Wednesday, July 17. News of ABC’s broadcasting the next Emmy broadcast comes less than a month after FOX aired its much-delayed telecast of the 75th Emmy Awards due to the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. That ceremony marked a new low among Total Viewers for the awards show, averaging just 4.3 million viewers over its three-hour broadcast on Monday, January 15. The previous low was the 2022 telecast, with just 5.92 million viewers tuning in when NBC carried the awards show. Compared to the last time FOX aired the Primetime Emmys in 2019, only 6.9 million people watched. The last time more than 10 million viewers tuned in for the Primetime Emmys was NBC’s broadcast in 2018. In 2020, the last time ABC broadcast the Primetime Emmys, Jimmy Kimmel (“Jimmy Kimmel Live!”) hosted, something he’s done every time the network has aired the awards show since 2012. Only 6.4 million viewers tuned into that diluted pandemic-era awards show, which took place at the Crypto.com Arena (then known as the Staples Center). 5. If you are ignoring them, you won't see their posts. And the same for them. I get frustrated myself from time to time, but you have to walk it back always. It can be hard and frustrating, but you gotta do it.
  6. I actually watched that wretched "A Secret Billionaire Heiress." For one, it was horribly acted and written, but at the same time I was highly engaged and enraged by the lead male and what he was doing to his "secret heiress" wife. Demanding she give her blood at the drop of a hat for his lover. DISGUSTED! I wanted to murder him. I also wanted to see them fall in love in the end. HAHA. So, I think it did its job. Also, there's this Korean actress who stars in all of these paid commercial-type movies where she is always hawking some type of makeup/health kit. Movies are so stupid but I can't help but laugh when she brings out that red kit... And again, I can't help but want to see the lead male and her fall in love. Plus, when he defends her against the other office workers, I see butterflies. LMFAO!
  7. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore. This is the only warning.
  8. Reba McEntire is getting back into the comedy game. NBC recently ordered a multi-camera pilot that will star the actress and country singer that also reunites her with former “Reba” executive producers Kevin Abbott, Michael Hanel and Mindy Schultheis, who will all serve as executive producers on the potential series alongside McEntire and Julie Abbott. In a logline released by the network, McEntire will play a character named Reba who inherits her father’s restaurant and is less than thrilled to discover that she has a new business partner in the half-sister she never knew she had. The United Reba McEntire Project is the first pilot ordered for the 2024-2025 broadcast television following the dual WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that impacted Hollywood for over five months. McEntire’s re-entry into scripted television comes a year after the cancellation of the ABC drama “Big Sky,” which ran for three seasons on the alphabet network. McEntire took over as the show’s lead, playing Sunny Barnes during season three and worked alongside real-life boyfriend Rex Linn, who played her character’s husband, Buck. Outside of acting, McEntire is gearing up for her second consecutive season as a coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” which is set to premiere with its 25th season on Monday, February 26. John Legend and Chance the Rapper, with country superstars Dan+Shay joining the show as its first coaching duo. From “2001-2007,” McEntire starred as Reba Hart in the hit comedy series “Reba,” which ran for six seasons across The WB and The CW, becoming among the highest-rated shows on both networks. In 2012, McEntire starred as Reba MacKenzie in ABC’s “Malibu Country,” another comedy series that did better than expected numbers as part of the network’s Friday night lineup. Over the years, McEntire has appeared in numerous television shows, including a recurring role on “Young Sheldon,” “Baby Daddy” and Last Man Standing,” among others. In 2023, she starred as Kim Wheeler in the Lifetime movie “The Hammer,” which followed an attorney later appointed as a judge for Nevada’s 5th district after the former judge’s death. The movie was inspired by the real-life story of Kim Wheeler, one of the last traveling judges in the United States. 10. Thanks again for all the info @janea4old. Although the UEFA games are not in the same league as NFL games in terms of ratings on CBS, the male demographic is the one CBS is trying to reach during periods without the NFL, which explains why they are hellbent on seeing the games stay on the network through 2030, and why we are getting preemptions on the West Coast in particular on Tuesdays/Wednesdays. Between the male demo, being a male-dominated sport, and high-income households watching, "this is the way" is the phrase most appropriate for why the network continues with UEFA even though not one American team is competing.
  11. According to the much missed site ShowBuzzDaily, the June 10, 2023 broadcast of the UEFA Champions League Final started at 3:01 p.m. and averaged 2.183 million viewers, of which 1.049 million were in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The airing did a 0.99 Household rating. The game was between Manchester City and Internazionale Milano football clubs. The game was also broadcast on Univision and something called TUDN, which is an American Spanish-language sports network that apparently is the successor name to Univision Deportes. https://showbuzzdaily.com/articles/skedball-weekly-sports-tv-ratings-6-5-6-11-2023.html https://showbuzzdaily.com/articles/showbuzzdailys-saturday-6-10-2023-top-150-cable-originals-network-finals.html As for the May 28, 2022 game you mentioned, it had 2.761 million viewers which rounded up to the 2.8 million cited by Fortune. 12. On the Wednesday, February 21 episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” a familiar face from “The Talk” will make her soap opera acting debut. Soap Opera Network has learned that Amanda Kloots, co-host of “The Talk,” and her real-life son Elvis Cordero, will be appearing in the episode which sees Lucy (Kloots) bringing her son Danny (Cordero) for a play date with Kelly Spencer (Sophia Paras), the daughter of Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton). While things might appear innocent initially, there’s more to the story. Kloots officially joined “The Talk” as one of the show’s five co-hosts in January 2021. Before that, she appeared as a guest co-host on the daily talk show, which now includes a diverse lineup of personalities, including the addition of two male co-hosts. In late 2021, Kloots participated as a contestant on “Dancing with the Stars.” She and her professional dance partner, Alan Bersten, placed fourth in the competition. In 2022, Kloots starred in the CBS original movie “Fit for Christmas,” which she wrote and executive produced. The TV movie also stars Paul Greene, Stephan Miers and Rebecca Budig (“All My Children”). In January, Kloots co-hosted “The 26th Annual Family Film and TV Awards” alongside “The Talk” co-host Akbar Gbajabiamila. The two also appeared as presenters at “The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” in December. Eagle-eyed soap fans will note that the appearance of Lucy on the soap was first teased via a script shown in an Instagram video published by Kimberlin Brown (Sheila) last month, wherein she captioned the post saying, “Are you ready for it? It’s coming!” She used the hashtags “drama,” “daytime drama,” and “What The” with the song “…Ready for It?” by Taylor Swift, overlaying the video. Check out photos from Kloot’s and her son’s upcoming appearance on “The Bold and the Beautiful” below, along with pictures of those they’ll appear in scenes with. 13. Thanks for this. I was checking recently on the scheduling but the CBS sports website only listed Paramount+ for airing the games. That said, looks like The Talk will be preempted on both coasts and so will Let's Make a Deal, particularly in markets where the show airs after The Talk.
  14. To clarify, Burton's first day back was Monday, February 5 (my birthday 🤪).
  15. I spoke to my aunt earlier today, who has been a soap watcher for decades. Of the four soaps still on the air, the one she still watched was Days of our Lives. That is, until it moved to Peacock. She hasn't watched it since. I don't know how many people are watching Days of our Lives currently, but it's definitely nowhere near the same amount as those who watched when it was still on broadcast television.
  16. “Days of our Lives” star Lauren Koslow (Kate Roberts) recently announced that she is a first time grandmother. In a post on Instagram, Koslow shared the first pictures of her granddaughter, Sistine, saying in the caption, “Welcome to this wondrous world, sweet Sistine. I’m your grandmama and I’ve been waiting to meet you for such a long, long while.” It was back in October 2023 when Koslow revealed in a separate Instagram post that her daughter Millikate was pregnant and expecting a daughter. In that post, Koslow said, “I love you to the moon and stars and back again!!! Forever and always! Happy birthday my beautiful daughter – enjoy every moment of this most fabulous next trip around the sun . Congratulations my soon -to -be little mama.” In response to Koslow’s happy news about the birth of her first grandbaby, several of her current and former co-stars chimed in, including Kristian Alfonso, Mary Beth Evans, Melissa Reeves, Thaao Penghlis, Jen Lilley, Valerie Wildman and Blake Berris, among others. “Beautiful Beauty just like her momma and Grandmama,” commented Alfonso. “Soooo beautiful!!! Happy grandmahood,” boasted Evans. “Lauren!!!!!! So excited for you and your family,” noted Reeves. “So precious!!! Congratulations to you and your loved ones. Sending love,” stated Wildman. Check out the Instagram posts below for photos of the newborn and a collage of milestones featuring Koslow’s daughter, Millikate. 17. In response to a lawsuit filed by former “Days of our Lives” actress Arianne Zucker early Wednesday at the Superior Court of the state of California, wherein she alleges claims of sexual harassment and retaliation, the show’s producer Corday Productions, Inc. and former co-executive producer Albert Alarr have formally issued statements on the matter. According to a spokesperson for Corday Productions, “The allegations in Ms. Zucker’s lawsuit are without merit. Corday Productions offered to renew Ms. Zucker’s contract including offering her a pay increase. Rejecting Ms. Zucker’s counteroffer does not constitute retaliation.” The show’s statement further noted, “Complaints about Mr. Alarr’s on-set behavior were promptly investigated. Corday Productions fully cooperated with the impartial investigation and subsequently terminated Mr. Alarr.” Albert Alarr Howard Wise/JPI Studios As for Alarr, his attorney, Robert M. Barta, released a statement to TMZ, saying, “As Albert said when Ms. Zucker first leveled these outrageous claims through the press last year, her baseless allegations were examined in a detailed and entirely independent investigation that lasted for two months. Dozens of individuals cooperated and every claim was thoroughly looked into. At the end of that process, the decision was made that Albert should continue in his role as Co-Executive Producer of ‘Days of our Lives.’ “As Ms. Zucker’s own lawsuit all but admits, at a time of industry-wide cutbacks, she was aggressively seeking a significant personal pay increase and additional influence on the show. Having failed in those attempts, she is now – again – trying to exploit vile stereotypes to denigrate and demean a Black man who was in a position of power.” In addition to Corday Productions, Inc. and Albert Alarr, “Days of our Lives” executive producer Ken Corday is himself also named as a defendant in Zucker’s lawsuit. In her complaint for damages, which also includes a demand for a jury trial, Zucker’s lawsuit outlines the following: Discrimination in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.) Harassment in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.) Retaliation in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.) Failure to Prevent Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation in Violation of Statute (California Government Code § 12490, et. seq.) Violation of California Labor Code § 1102.5 Violation of California Labor Code § 1197.5 Negligent Hiring, Supervision and Retention Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress Wrongful Termination In Violation of Public Policy Breach of Implied Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing Violation of California Business & Professions Code § 17200, et. seq. Zucker’s contract with Corday Productions, wherein she’s played the role of Nicole Walker DiMera on and off “Days of our Lives” since 1998, expired last month, four months after she alleges she entered into contract negotiations with the production company. She alleges she was given a “take it or leave it” offer. Without a new deal in place, she was effectively without a job. You can read Zucker’s full complaint by clicking here. 19. Arianne Zucker, one of the only current actors under contract at “Days of our Lives” to informally speak out during the Albert Alarr allegations from last summer, which led to the producer’s firing from the daytime drama series, is now suing the show’s production company, Corday Productions, Inc., over alleged claims of sexual harassment and retaliation. Also named in the suit, which claims Alarr had sexually harassed her and other female employees on the show, are Alarr and the show’s executive producer, Ken Corday. According to TMZ, which first reported the news of Zucker’s lawsuit, the actress was “subjected to nonconsensual sexual touching and sexually harassing comments during Alarr’s employment — claiming Alarr would frequently pull her close to his chest and make sexual moans while doing so.” Additionally, while filming, “Alarr would make sexually suggestive remarks” and allegedly tell male “costars filming sex scenes with her that he would ‘love to switch positions’ with them.” Further, Alarr allegedly “made it clear he enjoyed aggressive sex scenes.” In line with a report by Deadline last July, Zucker notes in her lawsuit that Alarr’s behavior had become “ well-known to other producers … claiming multiple women went to Corday Production Inc. over the years but the company allegedly did nothing.” After meeting with the show’s co-producer, Sony Pictures Television and its HR department between March 2023 and June 2023, wherein an investigation had been underway with several cast members and employees called in to discuss allegations brought against Alarr, Zucker points out that ultimately, Alarr was allowed to continue in his role as the show’s then co-executive producer, something which left Zucker feeling “violated and intimidated.” Janet Drucker, Albert Alarr YouTube (via Screengrab); Howard Wise/JPI Studios In the months since Alarr’s August firing, with Janet Drucker replacing him as the show’s co-executive producer, a move Zucker claims to have been a move to “save face” after the allegations became public, Arianne alleges that by October 2023, she had attempted to negotiate a new contract with Corday Productions. The production company allegedly gave her a “take it or leave it” counteroffer. By January 2024, Zucker’s contract had expired without a new deal being made, which she says effectively left her without a job. As a result, Zucker filed her lawsuit, claiming “harassment, discrimination, retaliation, negligent hiring and supervision, and wrongful termination,” among other claims. Zucker is asking for unspecified damages. You can read the full lawsuit which was published by Deadline, by clicking here. Zucker is being represented by attorney Anahita Sedaghatfar. 22. After spending time away from Port Charles to concentrate on his college studies in real life, actor William Lipton will soon return to “General Hospital” as Cameron Webber for some emotional scenes during the week of February 5. With Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Chavez) presumed dead after a fall into the water alongside ex-girlfriend Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), family, friends and all those in between will gather in memory of the beloved Cassadine heir, which includes his best friend and cousin Cameron. Lipton was last seen on the soap in March 2023. He joined the cast of the daytime drama series in 2018 as the firstborn son of Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst). Soap Opera Digest, which first reported Lipton’s return, interviewed the actor last year following his most recent appearance, wherein he said of fans missing his appearance on the series, “It’s always an honor to be so well-received by such an amazing and loving community.” He added, “They have been following a good chunk of my life now. I started [on ‘GH’] when I was a sophomore in high school and now I’m a sophomore in college. I’m so thankful for everyone’s concern and the love they’ve given me.” In 2020, Lipton was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the category of Outstanding Original Song for his work as composer and lyricist for the song “North Star,” which was featured on “General Hospital.” In addition to his musical talents, Lipton was also previously nominated two other times by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, the organization behind the Daytime Emmy Awards, for his portrayal as Cameron Webber on the soap in the now-eliminated Outstanding Younger Performer in a Daytime Drama Series category (2022 nominee) and also eliminated Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series (2019 nominee) category, the latter of which preceded the former which combined actor and actress nominees into one category starting in 2020. 24. Glad to see this thread back open. I can't fathom how a thread about a show that's been off the air for nearly 25 years could incite such whatever that was. Let's try not to have this happen again. There's absolutely no reason for it. Happy posting, Another World fans!
