ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of March 4-8, 2024
No one's feathers are ruffled. But keep in mind I never implied in this post that these were ratings for the week of March 11-15, 2024. That said, the Daytime Broadcast ratings provide the clearest outlook of how the the soaps perform against their competition across daytime TV. The soap opera ratings provide the same, but how the soaps compete against each other in their respective genre/category. Same for News and Talk. I'll have the week of March 11-15, 2024 posted shortly. Toups will also post his data soon as well.

ARTICLE: Drake Bell Speaks Out, Says “I Was Pretty Shocked” By Support Convicted Abuser Brian Peck Received During Sentencing
As shown in Monday night’s finale of Investigation Discovery’s “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,” which is now streaming on Max, former Nickelodeon star Drake Bell (“The Amanda Show,” “Drake & Josh”) recounts the time he attended the sentencing hearing for Brian Peck, his former dialogue coach who was convicted in 2004 for his crimes against Drake and ordered to register as a sex offender. “It was a different time, so I think it was a little easier to go to and from a courthouse and not worry about Twitter that night or TMZ [paparazzi’s] being there,” Bell notes of the time period before the advent of social media and the immediacy for news and information from the masses. “I get to the courthouse [and] it was the most unbelievable thing I’d ever seen. His entire side of the courtroom was full…full. There were definitely some recognizable faces on that side of the room,” recalled Bell of sentencing day for Peck. “[On] my side was me, my mom and my brother. Brian had been convicted but getting all of this support from a lot of people in the industry. I was pretty shocked.” “My mom got up. She had a statement. I wasn’t going to address Brian. There was no reason to. I addressed my statement to everyone in the room,” Bell continued. “I looked at all of them, and I just said, ‘How dare you?!’ And I said, ‘You will forever have the memory of sitting in this courtroom and defending this person, and I will forever have the memory of the person you are defending violating me and doing unspeakable things, acts and crimes, and that’s what I’ll remember.” Investigation Discovery Uncovering the toxic and dangerous culture behind some of the most iconic children’s shows of the late 1990s and early 2000s, the four-part documentary “Quiet on Set” pulled back the curtain on an empire built by Dan Schneider, the man behind several hit shows that aired on Nickelodeon, including “The Amanda Show,” “Drake & Josh,” “Zoey 101,” “iCarly,” “Victorious” and “Danger Force,” among others. The special featured unprecedented access to key cast members, parents of some of these cast members, writers, and crew spanning Schneider’s popular series across Nickelodeon, revealing an environment rife with allegations of abuse, sexism and racism. According to a logline, the featured interviews, woven with archival footage (some of which has never been broadcast), included scenes from the shows and social media commentary, re-contextualized many moments within these series that may have seemed silly or off when first aired but now carry a much darker undertone, offering a powerful reframing of these beloved shows. Produced by Maxine Productions and Sony Pictures Television – Nonfiction in association with Business Insider, “Quiet on Set” was directed by Mary Robertson and Emma Schwartz. Watch what Drake Bell had to say below, and watch the complete documentary on Max, the streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery. ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of March 4-8, 2024
These are the Daytime Broadcast Ratings. Toups and I do separate reports. I haven't posted the Daytime Broadcast ratings in a few weeks because I have been working on securing additional ratings data behind the scenes, hence, why we now have the viewership numbers for Women 18-49 and Women 25-54. I've also been working on several behind-the-scenes projects for the site. Season to date, Y&R is averaging 3.221 million Live+Same Day viewers. Therefore, the 3.5 million touted by CBS in the renewal press release is for Live+7 Day season to date figures, not inclusive of multiplatform viewing (Paramount+, CBS TVE -- CBS.com and the CBS App). You can't use 330 million people in the US as a method to gauge viewership. The 330 million figure includes babies, not just adults. Additionally, Y&R's viewership in Women 25-54 is no bigger or smaller than any single primetime or streaming show. Let's see how the show does when it isn't being preempted for sports/

ARTICLE: Clint Howard to Play Homeless Man on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ With Clues to Unraveling a Mystery
“The Bold and the Beautiful” has cast actor Clint Howard as a mysterious man who will reportedly play a pivotal role in revealing clues to an important mystery. According to Deadline, Howard began taping scenes today at the Television City-based studio in Hollywood, where the daytime soap opera is produced. The episodes will air on Friday, April 26 and Monday, April 29. His character’s name is Tom. Howard is the younger brother of actor and director Ron Howard and has appeared in over 250 television shows and films throughout his decades-long career. In 2021, the brothers released “The Boys: A Memoir of Hollywood and Family,” a New York Times bestseller chronicling their rise from child stars to Hollywood staples. Clint even appeared in several episodes of the classic comedy series “The Andy Griffith Show,” where his brother played Opie Taylor throughout the show’s run. One of Clint’s more recent credits includes playing Commander Buck Martinez in an episode of the Paramount+ original series “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” among other roles. Celebrating its 37th anniversary later this week, “The Bold and the Beautiful” debuted March 23, 1987 on CBS and continues to rank among the most-watched shows in the world. In the United States, the half-hour series is the fourth most watched daytime program and is the second highest-rated scripted daytime drama, only behind lead-in and sister soap “The Young and the Restless.” Earlier this month, “The Bold and the Beautiful” received an extension on its most recent contract that will keep the series on CBS through at least the fall of 2025. John McCook (Eric Forrester) and Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke Logan) are original cast members. Bradley P. Bell is the executive producer and head writer. ARTICLE: Daytime Broadcast Ratings for the Week of March 4-8, 2024
Steve Burton’s return as Jason Morgan on “General Hospital” was a ratings winner for the ABC daytime drama series. The series attracted its largest overall audience in seven weeks (since the week of January 8-12, 2024), marking its fourth-best performance of the season among Total Viewers and tied its season high in Women 18-49 rating while exceeding its season average among viewers in the key Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 sales demos. Averaging 2.168 million viewers during the week of March 4-8, 2024, “General Hospital” topped the first half-hour of “Let’s Make a Deal” (2.022 million) for the first time this season among Total Viewers and tied with the second half-hour in the unrounded Women 18-49 demo. “General Hospital” also topped “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.542 million) for the first time this season in unrounded Women 18-49 rating, while beating the CBS soap for just the second time this season in unrounded Women 25-54 rating. “The Bold and the Beautiful” hit a season low among Total Viewers, likely impacted by preemptions on the West Coast due to CBS’ continued coverage of the UEFA Champions League games. “The View” (2.487 million) was also a standout performer for ABC. The talk show, attracting its best overall audience since the week of January 15-19, 2024, had its fourth-best performance of the season among Total Viewers. “The Talk” saw double-digit increases in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 viewers compared to its performance one week earlier, despite not airing on Tuesday, March 5 or Wednesday, March 6 due to CBS Sports coverage of the UEFA Champions League games. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of March 4-8, 2024 in Women 18-49 (Rating and Viewers), Women 25-54 (Rating and Viewers), Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their performance during the comparable week in 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020 (pre-pandemic), which provides readers with a clearer picture of how the shows are performing overall during a five-year period and/or the basis for an overall trend. B&B/Y&R: March 2024 Spoilers
Hey everyone, Please only share links to websites with relevant articles about a story that has not already been published/shared by another outlet. There's no reason to link to another site if the information they publish is purely based on another outlet's reporting, which has already been shared, and provides no new information. As a side note, B&B should stop doing homeless storylines. It's offensive at this point since it is not being written properly or with care. IMO.

ARTICLE: “Change is Possible!” Says Victoria Rowell on ‘The Gates,’ A New Daytime Soap In Development at CBS for Black Audiences
With the news that CBS is currently in “accelerated development” on a new daytime soap opera geared towards the African American audience, daytime soap icon Victoria Rowell, who portrayed Drucilla Barber Winters on “The Young and the Restless” off and on from 1990-2007, is happy to see change happening both on-screen and behind the scenes when it comes to the future of daytime dramas. In a message posted on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, Rowell said, “CHANGE is POSSIBLE! Believe it!” while linking to a news story on “The Gates,” a new soap being spearheaded by the first and only Black woman ever to hold the position of head writer/co-head writer of a daytime drama series, Michele Val Jean (“General Hospital,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”), and follows a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community. If picked up to series, “The Gates” would become the first new CBS daytime soap opera since 1987 and the first to feature a predominantly Black cast in leading roles since “Generations” in 1989. In addition to writing and executive producing, Val Jean is also set as showrunner of “The Gates,” marking another first as no other Black woman has ever held the position of executive producer or showrunner for a daytime drama series. Lawsuit Since exiting “The Young and the Restless” in 2007 as Drucilla, Rowell famously sued CBS and the show’s producer, Sony Pictures Television, alleging retaliation stemming from her choosing to speak out against discrimination and injustice she allegedly endured and witnessed happen to other African Americans during her run on the soap opera, which remains the most-watched and highest-rated in the demographic in 2024. Among the claims in her since settled lawsuit, Rowell noted she had sought to return to “The Young and the Restless” as Dru or possibly another role on “The Bold and the Beautiful,” among other soaps remaining on the air, but she was being “impoverished and blackballed.” Also named in the lawsuit was Bell-Phillip Television Productions, Inc., producers of “The Bold and the Beautiful,” and Corday Productions, producers of “Days of our Lives.” Rowell’s Return to CBS Shemar Moore, Victoria Rowell, Christel Khalil, Bryton James Sonja Flemming/CBS In 2022, Rowell was cast in the recurring role of Tina Kingsley in the short-lived primetime drama series Good Sam. The series starred Sophia Bush (“One Tree Hill,” “Chicago P.D.”) and marked the first time in more than a decade since Rowell had appeared on a CBS series in an acting capacity. In 2019, Rowell appeared on “The Talk” and a special standalone episode of “The Young and the Restless” dedicated to the memory of Kristoff St. John (Neil Winters), who died suddenly with his death ruled accidental and the cause of death listed as hypertrophic heart disease. On “The Young and the Restless,” Drucilla notoriously fell off a cliff along with bestie Sharon (Sharon Case) after a scuffle with Phyllis (Michelle Stafford). To this day, Dru’s body has never been formally discovered, leading many to believe she could one day come back very much alive, albeit needing a very good excuse as to why she’s been away for so long. While there is currently no indication that Rowell might ever return to Genoa City, even though it would make sense storyline wise, and could potentially lift the series to multi-year highs in Total Viewers and the key women sales demographics, fans have already added the actress to their wish list of potential actors to be cast on “The Gates,” along with other prominent Black actresses such as Debbi Morgan (“All My Children”), Vivica A. Fox (“The Young and the Restless,” “Generations”) and Tonya Pinkins (“All My Children”), among others. Potential Return to Y&R Victoria Rowell, Kristoff St John Brian Lowe/JPI Studios During last year’s 50th anniversary celebration for “The Young and the Restless,” Rowell walked the red carpet alongside several of the show’s past and present cast, leading many to hope that, again, Rowell would one day make a return to the series. Even still, the actress has kept herself busy in the years since leaving the show, including creating, starring in and executive producing “The Rich and the Ruthless,” a series adaptation loosely based on her novels “Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva” and “The Young and the Ruthless.” The series, which ran for four seasons across streamers UMC (now called ALLBLK) and BET+, followed the behind-the-scenes drama of a struggling soap opera forced to move production from Los Angeles to Montego Bay, Jamaica. Rowell won all 11 NAACP Images Awards she was nominated for throughout her run on “The Young and the Restless.” Separately, for much of the eight-season run of “Diagnosis Murder,” where she portrayed Dr. Amanda Bentley-Livingston opposite legendary actor Dick Van Dyke, Rowell pulled double duty in daytime and primetime, proving it can be done and done very well. ARTICLE: Jacob Young to Direct ‘Murder Between Friends,’ An Independent Film He’ll Star in Alongside Joan Collins and Nadia Bjorlin
Soap alum Jacob Young (“All My Children,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”) is set to star in and co-direct “Murder Between Friends,” an independent film about a legendary TV star who tries to solve a murder that occurred at her countryside estate. Joan Collins (“Guiding Light,” “Dynasty”) leads the cast, which also includes “Days of our Lives” alum Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe Lane). “It’s very Agatha Christie, sort of ‘Knives Out’ without having a hundred million dollars to shoot it, but still will be a lovely film nonetheless,” Young told Michael Fairman TV last month while out promoting another film he recently starred in called “Four For Fun.” Jason Cook (ex-Shawn Brady, “Days of our Lives”) directed that film, which also stars Brytni Sarpi (Elena, “The Young and the Restless”). Other actors set to appear in the film include British soap star Toby-Alexander Smith (ex-Gray Atkins, “EastEnders”), Jim Borstelmann, Espen Hatleskog and Czech actress Hana Vagnerová. “All My Children” alum Trent Garrett (ex-Asher Pike) is reportedly set to co-direct alongside Young, with the film based on a script written by Mark Rozzano. “This is a really cool project. We’ve already rented the castle that we’re shooting at,” Young recently told Soap Opera Digest, noting that Bjorlin will be playing his love interest in the movie. ARTICLE: Anthony Hopkins to Star in Film ‘Eyes In the Trees’ Co-Written by ‘The Bay’ and ‘Days of our Lives’ Actor Mike Manning
Two-time Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (“The Silence of the Lambs,” “The Father”) has signed on to star in Eyes in the Trees, a reimagining of H.G. Wells’ The Island of Dr. Moreau, which is co-written by “The Bay” and “Days of Our Lives” actor Mike Manning. According to Deadline, Hopkins will portray a geneticist who has been isolated after the government stopped funding his research following the violent outbreak of one of his test subjects. Later, two renowned filmmakers and their crew embark on a journey of discovery, only to find their excursion turned into a fight for survival for themselves and the entire human race. First published in 1896 by Wells, several adaptations of “The Island of Dr. Moreau” have since followed, including 1932’s “Island of Los Souls” and the a 1977 film “The Island of Dr. Moreau,” which starred actor Burt Lancaster. More recently, Marlon Brando and Val Kilmer starred in a 1996 film version heavily plagued with behind-the-scenes challenges and budgetary concerns. The new adaptation was written by Manning and B. Harrison Smith (“Where the Scary Things Are”), with Timothy Woodward Jr. set to direct. Woodward is best known to soap fans for his directing and writing work on “Studio City,” the digital drama series co-created by Sean Kanan (“The Bold and the Beautiful,” “General Hospital”). Woodward, who was also an executive producer on the series, has directed several projects over the years including such films as “Til Death Do Us Part,” “The Call” and “The Outsider.” “This has been a hard one to keep secret,” said Manning in a post on Instagram recently. “I can’t believe I’m able to tell the world that I’m doing a movie w/ one of my favorite actors on the planet. Inspired by iconic IP. This is a pinch me moment for sure.” In 2021, Manning won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Daytime Fiction Program for portraying Caleb McKinnon on “The Bay.” One year earlier, he received his first Emmy as a producer on the series. Among his numerous acting credits, Manning is probably best known for his role as Charlie Dale on “Days of our Lives,” wherein his character was murdered in yet another whodunit storyline. The actor departed the series in February 2021. Still, he reprised the role on multiple occasions for short periods of time, including when the character was brought back to life by the devil and when he appeared to his mother, who was being carted away for her crimes at the time. ARTICLE: Future of ‘The Talk’ Questioned After CBS Announces ‘The Gates,’ A New Daytime Soap Opera In “Accelerated”Development”
With CBS in “accelerated development” on “The Gates,” which, if picked up to series, would become the network’s first new daytime soap opera since launching “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 1987, many in the entertainment industry have questioned what that means for “The Talk,” the daytime talk show that replaced the long-running drama series “As The World Turns,” which concluded its run after more than 54 years on the network in September 2010. Currently in its 14th season, “The Talk” ranks as the third most watched daytime talk show, behind only ABC’s “The View” and syndicated talker “Live with Kelly and Mark.” Despite that, the show is currently down double digits among Total Viewers and the key Women 18-49 sales demographic, often ranking at the bottom half in both categories among all daytime broadcast shows and has remained CBS’ least-watched and lowest-rated daytime series overall since it premiered in October 2010. In a report by Deadline, the outlet notes that CBS had hoped to reinvigorate the show when it hired former “Late Late Show with James Corden” executive producer Rob Crabbe last summer to replace outgoing executive producer Kristin Matthews, who had been with the show in various capacities since it launched. Some of the changes cited by Deadline include Crabbe “extending the first act of the show and injecting more intimate interview segments.” Internally, “The Talk” lost two valuable players behind the scenes in recent weeks due to layoffs enacted by CBS parent Paramount Global. Among those exiting were current series executive Laurie Seidman and one of the show’s publicists. That said, it’s not all doom and gloom for “The Talk.” The show has beaten or tied ABC’s “GMA3: What You Need to Know” in Women 18-49 several times this season and regularly tops “GMA3” and NBC’s “NBC News Daily” in Women 25-54. In fact, during the week of March 4-8, 2024, the most recent week in which daytime broadcast ratings are available, “The Talk” held a commanding lead over both shows even with the program not airing on all five days due to CBS’ continued coverage of the UEFA Champions League games. For the week in question, “The Talk” averaged 1.224 million viewers compared to 1.393 million for “GMA3” and 1.116 million for “NBC News Daily.” Among Women 18-49, “The Talk” averaged 120,000 viewers compared with 98,000 for the ABC News program and 96,000 for NBC’s news show. Meanwhile, among Women 25-54 viewers, “The Talk” led with 168,000 viewers while “GMA3” pulled in 141,000 viewers in the demo and “NBC News Daily” picked up 132,000 viewers. Following a tumultuous 11th, during which several roster changes took place on-screen, including the exits of Marie Osmand, Eve, Sharon Osbourne, Carrie Ann Inaba and Elaine Welteroth, the show stabilized itself when it launched its 12th season, spearheaded by the introduction of two male permanent co-hosts – Jerry O’Connell and Akbar Gbajabiamila. Mere weeks into that season, veteran NBC News journalist Natalie Morales joined the team. Within months, the show managed to attract its best overall audience since the early days of the pandemic. Alyssa Farah Griffin, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines Jeff Lipsky/ABC During the week of November 27-December 1, 2023, “The Talk” hit a season high among Total Viewers with 1.401 million viewers tuned in, marking the show’s best performance since early May 2023. For the week, “The Talk” tied “The View” (2.344 million) in both Women 18-49 (0.2 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.3 rating). Among the unrounded demos, the shows were in a virtual tie, with “The Talk” hitting a 0.22 rating vs. “The View” at a 0.23 rating. In unrounded Women 25-54, “The Talk” had a 0.30 rating compared with “The View” and its 0.34 rating. Speaking of “The View,” despite attracting over a million more viewers, the ABC chatfest was tied with “The Talk” in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 during the week of March 4-8, 2024, each with a 0.2 rating in Women 18-49 and a 0.3 rating in Women 25-54. In unrounded, “The View” had a 0.20 rating in Women 18-49 compared with a 0.18 rating for “The Talk.” Among Women 25-54, “The View” did a 0.33 rating (tied with “TODAY with Hoda & Jenna”) vs. a 0.27 rating for “The Talk.” “The Talk” is hosted by Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood. The show airs weekdays at 2:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT on CBS and is also available to stream Live and On Demand on Paramount+. ARTICLE: ‘The Gates’ Is Under “Accelerated Development” at CBS, Likely As A One-Hour Daytime Drama
More than a week since CBS shocked the entertainment industry with news that it is currently developing the first daytime drama series since the launch of “Passions” nearly 25 years ago, and the network’s first new soap opera since the launch of “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 1987, George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS and chief content officer for news and sports at Paramount+, recently revealed how “The Gates” came to be and gave some insight on whether the show will be a 30-minute show or one-hour. In a far-reaching interview with Vulture, Cheeks revealed that “The Gates” is real and that the show is being developed following conversations with Sheila Ducksworth, president of the CBS/NAACP Production Venture, which was established in 2020 to develop content for the CBS Television Network, as well as the ability to sell programming to third-party platforms across the media landscape with an emphasis on producing premium content that expands the number of diverse voices contributing to an ever-evolving society, by telling inclusive stories that increase the visibility and impact of Black artists in a growing media landscape. Sheila Ducksworth Courtesy/CBS/NAACP “When we hired Sheila Ducksworth to run the NAACP venture, she and I had multiple meetings talking about what different genres she was going to lean into, and we talked a lot about daytime,” Cheeks noted, recalling his early discussion with Ducksworth on content she thought would work well for the network as part of her role. “One of the things that the data made very clear to both of us is that daytime soap operas over index with Black women, and yet when you look at soap operas, it’s usually sort of a white-led family with supporting characters that reflect more of our society,” Cheeks continued. “So we just thought, wouldn’t it be interesting to flip that and make the core anchor family a Black family, and then make the other characters reflect more the broader scope of society?” So, how did the idea behind “The Gates” come to be, and how did CBS manage to scoop up Michele Val Jean, the award-winning writer who had been rumored to be returning to ABC’s “General Hospital” after exiting as a scriptwriter at “The Bold and the Beautiful” in February? Brad Bell, Michele Val Jean Sean Smith/JPI Studios “[Sheila] found this great writer, Michele Val Jean, who’s been in the soap opera space for 30 years. She came up with a pitch, and we loved it. We brought Procter & Gamble into it as well, because if there were going to be [product] integrations, we could do it more holistically and organically. All of that is to say, we did a lot of work on the front end to put this together. So while yes, it’s development, it’s accelerated development.” While Cheeks couldn’t elaborate on when the show might be ready to air, he noted that everyone is behind it and wants to ensure they get things right from the start. “There hasn’t been a new soap opera launch since I can’t even begin to tell you when. But we have great success with ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ and ‘Young and the Restless,’ and so we think we’re the right folks to be launching a new soap. I wish I could tell you more about exact timing, but we’re so focused on getting it right, and that will dictate when we’re ready to launch it.” Regardless, one detail Cheeks could elaborate on was whether “The Gates” would be a half-hour show or an hour-long series, stating, “It’s been being developed as an hour, but I can’t say for sure. I don’t know yet.” In March 2020, Cheeks assumed the role of President and Chief Executive Officer of CBS, overseeing CBS-branded assets within Paramount Global, CBS’ parent company, including the CBS Television Network, which encompasses CBS Entertainment, CBS News and CBS Sports, as well as CBS Studios, CBS Stations, CBS Media Ventures, its first-run syndication business, and CBS-branded digital assets. In June 2021, Cheeks added the title of Chief Content Officer, News and Sports, Paramount+, to his portfolio. In this role, he extends the reach of CBS News and CBS Sports content to the streaming service and is responsible for global content strategy for Paramount’s free-to-air networks in the United Kingdom, Australia and Argentina. As president of CBS/NAACP Venture, Ducksworth supervises the development and production of scripted, unscripted, and documentary content for linear television networks and streaming platforms. Prior to joining the venture, Ducksworth served as head of scripted television and production for Will Packer Media, where she developed and managed projects produced for broadcast, cable and streaming services. There, Ducksworth oversaw the development and production of “Night School,” a pilot for NBC based on the hit movie, and also served as an executive producer on the Wendy Williams biopic for Lifetime as well as Will Packer Media’s OWN series “Ambitions.” In addition to writing for “General Hospital,” “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “Santa Barbara,” and “Generations,” Val Jean wrote for “Port Charles,” the short-lived spinoff of “General Hospital.” She also served as a consulting producer on the short-lived OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network) primetime soap “Ambitions,” created by Jamey Giddens (writer, “Days of our Lives”).Val Jean has received 17 Daytime Emmy Award nominations since she began her daytime career in 1989 as a writer for “Generations,” the first daytime drama series to feature a predominantly Black cast, and the series many have already compared “The Gates.” She would go on to win seven Emmys overall, including four from her time at “General Hospital” (1995, 1999, 2003 and 2009) and three from her time at “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2015, 2016 and 2020). ARTICLE: Steve Burton On Contract at ‘General Hospital,’ Signs Two-Year Deal to Play Jason Morgan Again on ABC Drama Series
On the most recent episode of his Daily Drama podcast, which he co-hosts with Bradford Anderson, actor Steve Burton announced that his recent return to “General Hospital” included signing a two-year deal with ABC that will keep him in Port Charles for at least that time. Burton’s comments are in response to speculation on social media that he wouldn’t be staying long-term, specifically that he only signed a three-month deal. “Obviously, they are going for clickbait because nothing they’re posting is even remotely true,” Burton pointed out to Anderson, his “General Hospital” co-star, who also recently returned to the show, albeit on a recurring basis, as Damian Spinelli. “They said that I only signed a three-month contract, and then I’m dying,” said Burton, summarizing discussions across various Facebook fan groups about his status on the daytime drama series. “Hey, guess what? It’s a two-year contract, and I’m not dying!” Burton continued. In addition to appearing as Jason on “General Hospital,” Burton continues to appear on “Days of our Lives” as Harris Michaels, a character he originated in 1988. Although he only signed a one-year deal with the Peacock exclusive series, which concluded in December 2023, due to the show’s advanced tape-to-air schedule, fans can expect to see Burton in Salem and Port Charles simultaneously through at least June. After exiting “Days of our Lives” the first time, Burton joined the “General Hospital” cast in 1991 as Jason Quartermaine. By 1997, the character had lost his memories and began going by the name of Jason Morgan. Burton exited the ABC soap in 2000 only to return on a full-time in 2002. ARTICLE: Ryan Carnes Releases New Music with LOVECOLOR Bandmate Vanessa Silberman
Fresh off his return visit to “General Hospital” as Lucas Jones, actor and musician Ryan Carnes and his LOVECOLOR bandmate Vanessa Silberman recently released their fourth single, “Hearts on Fire.” Formed in November 2022, the band notes the song continues to showcase their predilection for anthemic pop hooks, big beats and melodic synth lines. Not only will the song charm you, but it will also put a smile on your heart. “People often say ‘when you know, you know.’ Even though that can seem trite and like an eye-roller, and it can seem unbelievable to someone who has yet to experience that in their own lives, the truth is that… you do. You do know. And what’s f’ed up about it is that I think it can be hard to know the difference and to ‘know that you know’ and what that will feel like, until you’re actually living it and knowing that you know,” said Carnes in a statement on the release of the song. “I think this song speaks to that phenomenon. There’s a sort of elation and magical quality to getting to experience that knowing with another,” Carnes continues. “At the same time, there’s a calm assuredness. It’s a transcendent experience, and we wanted to personify that in this song.” Vanessa Silberman, Ryan Carnes Zachariah Schmidt “Hearts on Fire” (Single Key Art) LOVECOLOR “‘Hearts on Fire’ started as a demo that happened really quickly — maybe over a weekend — and turned into an entire song really fast. Then, later, we embellished it and built upon the initial track. Lyrically and emotionally, the song is just about getting everything that is inside out, in a very therapeutic way,” said Silberman. “The song is very much about feeling so sure about someone, like you just know you’re gonna be with someone and you just need them in your life.” Currently available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Soundcloud, among others, you can preview the song by clicking on the play button below.
