  1. Despite Jake Webber being accepted into a prestigious art school in Spain, as discussed in recent episodes of “General Hospital,” the character’s portrayer, Hudson West, is not going anywhere. According to sources, West remains part of the show’s recurring cast even though the character appears set to leave Port Charles. During the Monday, July 15 episode, Jake’s father, Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), was caught trying to leave money under the front door of Jake’s home where he lives with his mother, Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), which would help cover tuition. Following a conversation with Elizabeth, Jason was invited into the home to discuss the matter further with their son directly, where Jason made it clear that his offer came with no strings attached, particularly as Jason had been an absent parent during much of Jake’s young life. After agreeing to take the money, the two shook hands and embraced each other. As for where the story goes from here, you’ll have to tune in to find out. West began portraying Jake Webber on “General Hospital” in 2016, taking over the role previously played by James Nigbor. Since then, he’s wracked up several additional TV credits, including “Grace and Frankie,” “L.A.’s Finest,” “Penny Dreadful: City of Angels,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and “9-1-1.” In 2018, West received his first Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series for his portrayal of Jake Webber on “General Hospital.” Note: The post Hudson West Remains Part of the ‘General Hospital’ Cast appeared first on the Soap Opera Network website. 4. I don’t discuss politics on this forum whatsoever, but I completely disagree with this thinking. If I was running for the position of president and someone just tried to assassinate me on live television due to a disagreement with my politics, I would have done exactly the same thing. This was a moment that will go down in the history books in which someone tried to kill a former president, who also happens to be a presidential candidate for the next election, and he miraculously survived. He needed to let the world know that he was okay and that something as big as this attempt would not stop him. The usage of “fight,” IMO, was also to bring the message home that for whatever reason he is running for office of the president, there are those out there trying to stop him as witnessed yesterday evening. His message was to say he wasn’t stopping and that supporters should continue to fight for him and their reasoning they support him.
  5. During the week of June 24-28, 2024, all three daytime dramas gained viewers for the second week in a row, led by “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.763 million). The half-hour series added +89,000 viewers week-to-week for a total net gain of +182,000 viewers over the show’s performance two weeks earlier (week of June 10-14, 2024). Similarly, “The Young and the Restless” (3.125 million) was up +76,000 viewers week-to-week. Over two weeks of increases, the show has seen a net gain of +165,000 viewers. “General Hospital” (1.957 million) averaged less than two million viewers for the 11th consecutive week and the 17th time this season. On the positive side, the series tied “The Bold and the Beautiful” with a 0.35 rating among Women 25-54. Additionally, both shows averaged 217,000 viewers among Women 25-54 Viewers. The show gained +29,000 viewers over the week ago period for a total net gain over two weeks at just +60,000 viewers. What follows is a breakdown of how the three daytime soap operas performed during the week of June 24-28, 2024 in Women 18-49 (Rating/Viewers), Women 25-54 (Rating/Viewers), Households and Total Viewers, including their comparable performance to last week and the same week last year. 11. I'm currently enjoying international shows as well, particularly South Korean and Turkish dramas. The Chinese dramas piss me off because the female lead is always a weakling, and somehow the mistress is idolized by the male lead's friends and families, while the wife is looked up to as a peasant or a nuisance. Otherwise, American soaps are feeling like a chore to get through. I don't think Ava knowingly outed Blaze. As far as she knew, Blaze was out. Regardless, it's not her job to protect a grown adult. Talk to me when she does it and it impacts a minor. Otherwise, most people are coming off anti-Ava regardless of their stance on Natalia. They are against Ava for outing the bigot more than the person who said the thing to begin with. That bothers me.

  13. Annika Noelle Howard Wise/JPI Studios The Fourth of July will be full of fireworks on CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” when the Forrester family hosts a family celebration at their home during the Thursday, July 4 episode. In the episode, Hope (Annika Noelle) realizes she must accept the reality of Thomas’ (Matthew Atkinson) surprise engagement to Paris (Diamond White). Elsewhere, Katie (Heather Tom) shares her concern with Bill (Don Diamont) about his relationship with Poppy (Romy Park), the latter of whom overhears their conversation outside the office door. Things get more interesting on Friday, July 5, when Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) tries to make sense of things after Hope confides in her mother. “The Bold and the Beautiful” is one of the only remaining daytime drama series that continues to celebrate the Independence Day holiday. In fact, the show recently published numerous photos of its cast involved in a photoshoot emphasizing that the summer season has arrived. 14. Thanks for the tidbit. However, I must point out that when Giovanni was first announced to have joined the cast by Deadline, they reported his last name as Cerullo. Now, in the credits, he was given a different name (Palmieri), so I wonder if the writers decided to change it at the last minute but forgot to let the show's publicist know. Either way, I hope they have a plan for this character. Thus far, I'm pretty bored.
  15. The problem with the story, in my opinion, isn't Natalia's anti-gay sentiments. That is relevant to talk about even today, I agree. My issue is that the whistleblower is the villain, not the person who did or said the thing, in the eyes of some people in Port Charles. Ava, like Nina before her, is bad because she reveals Natalia's bigotry, and now people want to take her daughter away from her? I get it; Ava isn't a nice person, and she has done other things that might warrant her losing custody of her child, but no one is going to tell me what she did in this situation was any worse than anything Sonny has done in 30 years. Alexis could have killed someone anytime she was drunk had she been behind the wheel of a car, but she never lost her kids. Sonny recently beat up his daughter's boyfriend and paid no price for it. But he's the better parent for Avery? I swear, these soaps need some reality in their stories. Be a soap, fine. But tell it like it makes some sense. I'm tired of being played for a fool by the writers of EVERY soap currently on air.

  17. Since it was first announced that Jonathan Jackson would be returning to “General Hospital” as Lucky Spencer, fans have wanted to hear from Genie Francis, who plays Laura Collins, about the return of her on-screen son to the daytime drama series. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, Francis tweeted, “Dear sweet Jonathan Jackson, this show is so lucky to have you back. I am overjoyed! Can’t wait to work with you again.” Francis’ comments are in response to Jackson publishing a short video last week where he talked about his return to the series in a post captioned, “I’m returning to @generalhospital this summer! Excited for the journey to continue…” Meanwhile, in the video, he noted how “excited [he was] to see Genie Francis, obviously.” Jackson was the much-buzzed-about former male cast member executive producer Frank Valentini had teased in an ABC7/On the Red Carpet interview, in which he said fans would “go crazy for” upon his return to Port Charles. As for when that will be, sources note that Jackson is expected to begin filming at “General Hospital” later this summer, with his first airdate set for early fall. Jackson has reportedly signed a long-term deal with ABC, making it the first time in more than two decades that Jackson and Francis will be seen on-screen as contract players simultaneously. They last appeared together on-screen in 2015 during a brief appearance by Jackson. 18. According to newly available Live+3 and Live+7 ratings data, CBS’ broadcast of “The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” last month garnered the awards show its best overall audience of any telecast since CBS began carrying the ceremony exclusively in 2020. Compared to its initial Live+Same Day performance, which saw this year’s telecast averaging 2.917 million viewers, “The 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” gained an additional +278,000 viewers after three days of delayed viewing, bringing the Live+3 Day figure to 3.195 million viewers. After seven days, the telecast increased again, adding another +21,000 viewers for a total of 3.216 million who tuned into this year’s ceremony. This year’s broadcast marks the best overall performance for the Daytime Emmy Awards since CBS aired “The 38th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards” on Sunday, June 19, 2011. That year’s ceremony averaged 5.49 million viewers and marked the final time the awards show aired on broadcast television before CBS agreed to air it again in 2020. In the intermittent years, the ceremony was either televised on cable via HLN and Pop TV or over the Internet. Despite the increase in Total Viewers after three and seven days of delayed viewing, the awards show remained steady with its Live+Same Day performance among the key sales demographics, particularly among Adults 18-49, where the ceremony attracted a 0.25 rating. Factoring in both three and seven days of delayed viewing, the Daytime Emmys pulled a 0.13 rating in Adults 18-34, a 0.39 rating in Adults 25-54, a 0.27 rating in Women 18-49 and a 0.24 rating in Men 18-49. Of the key rating categories, only Men 18-49 saw an increase from Live+Same Day (0.24 rating vs. 0.23 rating). Meanwhile, of the 3.216 million viewers who tuned in, the ceremony averaged 335,000 viewers among Adults 18-49. Based on data published by Programming Insider via Nielsen, this year’s Daytime Emmys outperformed the 2020 telecast in Live+3, which averaged 3.164 million viewers after just three days of delayed viewing. An additional +149,000 viewers watched the awards show that year on a delay compared to its initially reported Live+Same Day average (3.164 million vs. 3.015 million). Comparatively, the 2020 awards show averaged 3.193 million viewers in Live+7, an increase of just +29,000 viewers from its Live+3 performance. As previously reported, the improved ratings performance for the Daytime Emmy Awards comes just as CBS and The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) prepare to discuss whether to continue their exclusive broadcast partnership, which includes the 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 telecasts. 23. Took me a minute to find your April post as it was on page 50 and not page 49, but I found it. I think it all depends on what time The Gates is set to air. Just because The Talk was canceled does not automatically mean The Gates will air in its place. I still say there is a high chance it could air immediately after Y&R. We shall see, but I will inquire as requested.
