Iris makes her bid for Cory Publishing

Once again, reporters, press, and organizers are scurrying about as another press conference is about to take place. Dante is walking about and sees Bridget sitting at a table again, and decides to join her.

Dante: Hey.

Bridget (looking around): You’re not meeting your crazy girlfriend here are you?

Dante (chuckling): No not today. Can I sit?

Bridget: Sure. What brings you out here amongst all this?

Dante: I’m here with my mom.

Bridget: Where is she?

Dante: No clue.

BACKSTAGE

Grant is preparing for his press conference and Paulina approaches him.

Grant: What are you doing here? I have a press conference in a few minutes.

Paulina: I came…to say I’m sorry.

Grant: About what?

Paulina: What I said the other day. I didn’t mean to hurt you.

Grant: You shouldn’t apologize for how you feel Paulina.

Paulina: That’s the thing, Grant. I don’t really know how I feel. All I know is that I can’t mourn Joe forever, and I would not mind going out to dinner with you.

Grant (surprised): Really?

Paulina (smiling): Yes.

Grant: I would be honored.

They hug.

RACHEL’S OFFICE

Allen knocks on the door. “Rachel!” he calls out, but gets no response, so he goes in, and locks the door. He goes directly to the drawer, picks the lock, and finds what he’s looking for…the sealed bids for Cory Publishing that arrived. He takes out a lighter so he can carefully heat the envelopes so they can be opened and re-sealed. “Here goes nothing.”

CAMERA PAN ON ALLEN…FADE OUT TO THEME SONG

REGINALD’S SUITE

Allen walks over to the desk with an envelope, and his laptop.

Allen: I’ve got what you want.

Iris: Those must be the bids.

Allen: Yep. As soon as I download them, you’ll have them.

Iris: And I’ll be able to make mine. I am so close to getting my father’s company back I can taste it.

Reginald: Good work Allen.

Allen: I’m doing this for my mother…not for either one of you.

SHARLENE walks up and sees all the hustle and bustle at the Center, and begins to have flashbacks of the day Grant was shot.

Dante: Look I’m…sorry about Lizzie.

Bridget: What are you apologizing for? It’s not your fault she’s a total bitch.

Dante: Hey. Come now she’s my girl.

Bridget: You want us to be friends? That’s not gonna happen after what I did to her brother at the prom.

Dante: You made a mistake. Everybody makes them right?

Bridget: Look I appreciate the gesture, but I am not gonna be a sitting duck for Elizabeth to throw barbs at. If she comes at me, I’m gonna come back at her.

Dante: Come on now. We all grew up together practically.

Bridget: Yes we did, and I was raised not to crap from anybody, and I’m not gonna take it from Lizzie anymore.

Paulina walks up to them.

Paulina: Hi Bridget.

Bridget: Hi Mrs. Carlino.

Paulina: They’re about to start Grant’s press conference.

AT THE PODIUM

Grant approaches it and begins his speech.

Grant: Good afternoon everyone. Thank you for attending my press conference. As you know, I have an affinity for Bay City and its residents. As a senator, I don’t have the hands on access that I would have otherwise…if I was mayor. Therefore, I am announcing that I will be running for Mayor of Bay City.

As the people applaud Grant’s announcement, SHARLENE starts to become agitated as she remembers something from her flashback. “You! You shot Grant!” she says as she is looking into the eyes of the shooter. Sharlene collapses and Paulina, Dante and Bridget run up to her.

Paulina: Sharlene? Oh my God. Dante I’m gonna get her home.
