Oh crap, thats horrible news. I just started getting into the show too and LOVE it. Ive only seen season 3 and 5 and now watching 4. I hate to see it go, espeically since the current season just ended on a cliffhanger. I wonder what this means for Extra Time. I cant see it staying. The article mentions a special, so I hope that at least lets the writers provide some type of resolution to the stories, especially Lucy's. What crappy timing, bc I just changed my signature and avatar only to read about this

Season 5 was really lacking in any great stories up until the final episode of the season (and now, of the series as a whole), which really kicked ass. Seriously, the final scenes are amazing.

This is why I'm against the special goodbye episode, I dont want to know if...

*spoiler....dont go further down if you dont want to know*

Tanya unknowingly took rat poison that Garry had disguised as cocaine, as she was about to blackmail him over Roger's death.

I dont want to find out what affect the bottling would have on Liberty's career as well as on her relationship with Tre.

I dont want to know if Lucy ended up giving birth to a black baby...or if Bruno or Tre is the father

I DONT WANT TO KNOW

seriously, though, I am kinda glad its coming to an end, the last series just wasnt up to par with some of the rest. Sure, it could have been sorted, but TPTB just didnt seem to be into it anymore. However, I will miss it, alot. I'll just have to stock up on the DVDs.

well I really want to know about the Lucy predicament. I loved season and thought it was great. I guess it helps that it was the first season I saw and only now getting into the past ones bc of it, but I got invested in these characters and hate to see them go. I wish they could have had at least one more season in

I thought Season 5 was a return to form actually. I really got the impression the show was going back to what made it good in the first place - Season 4 went off track a bit. I liked that the Wives solidified as a united group towards the end. And Liberty and Tre were great additions - Tre especially had a lot of potential. Amber and Bruno were hilarious!

This news is really sad. FW was like my Dynasty fix! I hope Zoe Lucker and Laila Rouass get some good roles going forward. They were brilliant as Tanya and Amber (Christian Solwhathisname was also excellent as Jason during the first few seasons).

:(

LOVED Tremaine. That was my guy there. He did have alot of potential and I was looking forward to a feud with Bruno. I loved to hate Liberty. She was such a selfish !@#$%^&*] and added spice to the show. I thought the season was pretty good with them. Their story was actually my favorite

What killed this show (and so many others in the UK) is that actors are only signed to one year contracts. Because of this they had to give them more money each year which makes it too expensive to produce. This is why each year they have to revamp the cast bc nobody HAS to stay and if they do it costs them. I remmeber they had to pay Gary Lucy (Kyle) millions to stay for season three.

BTW, I read that Extra Time is likely to end as well. :( I wonder if it'll tie up any loose ends. I know Lucy is on that show right now. Shame Tanya never met her sister on screen.

I know this sucks!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite primetime soap of all time is cancelled......those bloody wankers why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ok I admit it wasn't the same without my man Gary Lucy, Zoe Lucker, Alison Newman, or Ben Price. I'm gonna sooooooooo miss Tanya and Amber's !@#$%^&*]fests!!!!!

I don't see them keeping Extra Time either cause it depends on FW.

Well nothing is ever gonna come close to FW ever!!!!!! Well at least not here in the US.

The closest we got was Playmakers and I only watched it for one storyline. The guy who was getting married and was in the closet with a boyfriend. That story was well written. The guy was hella fine too.

Everything these days is getting cancelled . And they wonder why TV viewership is at an all time low. If they would quit being so trigger happy to cancel shows maybe people will watch them without being worried that it's gonna be cancelled right out from under them.

At least FW isn't going out with a wimper.

One thing I loved about the show was how each season opened up with a character talking to the camera recapping what happened the year before. For those who havent seen it, here's Tanya in the season 4 premiere. Its spoilerish if you havent seen season 3. Great clip recapping the !@#$%^&*]es' storyline from that year

I never saw the season premieres for ET so I dont know. Yes ET has the same theme song. Its the same opening except I believe its green and says Footballers Wive$ Extra Time. The music during the show is even the same. You would think it were the same show except the writing is nowhere near on par

Bruno did teh one for season 5 but it was nowhere near as fun as when Tanya did it. I've only seen seasons 3, 5 and now Im in the middle of 4...lol. I loved the Jason recap Tanya did for season 3

    • I really hope you’re wrong. Dani Desperate Dupree being right will make her even more insufferable than she’s already been.
    • I know this board has very strong opinions about Scheffer's reign which run the gamut from brilliant to the nadir of the series.  I'm one of the fans. 2001 - 2005 are, imo, the second best years for the series. The first being Marland.  As The World Turns won Daytime Emmy Awards for Best Drama Series in '87 and '91. However, it wasn't until Scheffer came along that it won again...in '01 and '03. Plus it won for Best Writing Team in '01, '02, '04, and '05, an award it had never managed to win before and didn't again. When Scheffer left and Passanante was the main head writer (along with various other co-head writers) the show began to seriously tank. However, it wasn't just the writing. The budget was gone. The sets were made to be smaller or destroyed. There was all that weird hand held camera directing for a while. Scenes that were obviously shot in the hallway where the series was filmed. I think '06 - '10 is a roller coaster. There are some storylines I really enjoyed and some that were eye-rolling. Looking in the rearview mirror though, I can see that the actors, writers, directors, and crew were working their best with what money they had.
    • They are idiots! It seems crazy that Leslie is inserting herself so much into this investigation but everybody is falling into her traps. I find it to be an interesting back and forth and I'm still not completely sure who will win. I have a theory but I'm going to wait for more to develop before I say more. I feel like Haley has been more on the sidelines so I'm enjoying this new desperate streak she appears to be developing. I'm curious how it'll manifest overtime. I also agree with Dani that I am not convinced she's pregnant. I think she's trying to get pregnant but really just see's herself fading into the background and wants attention and validation from Dani and her family.
    • Thanks for sharing; the set, wow. Ten times better than the "penthouse" she lives in now (is that a surprise, though?).
    • I'd be happy to!

I just read the intro and first chapter and I'm already hooked. I know she had a co-author, but I can tell Kim is a firecracker and I'd love to have wine with her and talk sh!t haha. It makes reading the book pretty easy and entertaining. Intro - I had no idea she got a DUI! She shared 3 bottles of wine with a friend at dinner one night in LA, got in her car, was pulled over and thrown in jail overnight.  She admitted it wasn't her first time drinking and driving, but learned a valuable lesson that night. Out of the gate, she's not holding back or hiding anything. Chapter 1 - the announcement that GL was being cancelled. She was driving to Peapack and got a call from Bradley Cole who told her the news. First, that's BS that as one of the faces of GL, you hear the big news from a fellow co-star on your way to work. Granted, the "suits" were traveling to Peapack that day to tell the cast and crew, but still, seems icky. Ironically the news came on April Fools Day. Apparently that was the last day the network could decide whether to cancel or renew, but to Kim's point, couldn't they just pick the day before to avoid the callousness of the 'holiday'. Obviously a sad day in GL history. I thought it was funny, she said the one thing she thought of is "what would Susan Lucci do" in this situation, post-cancellation. And of course she said she'd "find something to hawk on the Home Shopping Network"  You all would know better than me, but part of the title of her book is "seven husbands" and in her intro, she uses Reva's full name: Reva Shayne-Lewis-Lewis-Spaulding-Lewis-Winslow-Cooper-Lewis-Lewis-O'Neill.  However, in the first chapter, she said Bradley Cole was "her 8th (or was it 9th?) husband". Well, Kim, that already contradicts the title of your book and your character's name you touted.
    • He also was following Holly May 22, 2025 per update (link to post) from @JAS0N47
    • I was incredibly moved by these scenes, especially Peter's performance. It felt so tender and real, especially when you remember Bo just got out of a years-long coma and wasn't going to be able to put up a front. You're reminded of how long these legends have populated the show when you have a 70 year old man grieving men who were almost 90 or 100, but Bo's response to Victor's death was a poignant reminder of how fresh these wounds are no matter your age. Normally these types of moments don't even make it in soap episodes in recent decades as they are seen as too boring. The more somber moments being balanced by Bo meeting his grandchildren was also lovely.  And the scene where Bo forgave Shawn may be the only time I've been in lock with Brandon Beemer's take on the part.  There's a certain element of suffocation with soaps, as shown here, when you remember so many of the kids are named after long dead relatives, or when they grew up, were paired with the kids of other longtime characters. That aspect always makes me yearn for new blood (new blood that doesn't suck, anyway), but there are other moments, like those with Bo, which make me appreciate all the history the show has.
    • A funny scene, Roger and Sonni go out to eat, at that place that had a colonial theme (I love when soaps have very specific places to eat..I hated the diners on GL, ATWT and AW) and this is just after Rog came back and Sonni hit the headlines and the waitress scremes.."Oh, Roger Thorpe, and YOUR...please dont' hurt me..." and they are all like, "Hey, were just hungry!" (most soaps now have someone go on a murder spree and the rest of the cast and extras look like they havent heard about it."
