I think the ship sailed for Sharon and Nick years ago.

But what else is there for them to do? Make Sharon crazy again? Or another new romance(with who?) Put them together-married or not, bring back their kids and maybe have Sharon search for that half sibling that is out there somewhere. should give them enough airtime w/o kidnappings or drug addictions.

I would probably write Sharon out, sad to say...but you have a good point.

I'm not a fan of Alzheimer's stories, either.

We all know death is a part of life. Almost all of us have experienced Alzheimer's in our families. We do not need to see it play out on a soap we watch every day.

Giving Dina dementia gave her good material, but she would have been good with any material they gave her. The fact is that they shortened her stay on the show when she was fascinating in every scene she played.

That writing was for Emmy nominations and not for the audience. I think it was all an unforced error.

Don't get me wrong: I'm not opposed to shows telling stories that are topical and relevant for their audiences. I'd rather watch a storyline about Alzheimer's than watch yet one more back-from-the-dead story or baby switch. I just feel like the shows and viewers alike would be better served spotlighting diseases for which there are known cures.

Meanwhile, if getting Nick hooked on drugs - a storyline I'm sure Joshua Morrow doesn't want to play, despite receiving some good notices - doesn't get him and Sharon to reunite, then nothing will.

I might take more interest in Sharon if she a) hadn't already had every insane story short of being abducted by aliens and b) did not seem permanently stoned.

This will be Ron Carlivati's first big pitch to CBS when he lands the HW'ing gig. Bank on it.

Like, I don't know what there is left to do with Nick, Sharon, Victoria, Billy, etc. Who cares? Heather Tom is never coming back and Amelia Heinle is never being replaced. People have tried to write Victoria more in keeping with HT's version since and it never lasts. Nobody cares about Nick or Sharon's other romances. Jason Thompson has aged 15-20 years in 10. I guess I might marry Nick and Sharon off and let them recede as tentpoles for the younger set. The others I mentioned? Not sure I'd keep 'em around no matter who plays 'em. Same goes for Phyllis who I'd get rid of.

Noah has had so many flop recasts he is a joke. That can change but it hasn't yet and who knows if Lucas Adams can carry major story? Mariah is segregated in the lesbian corner or whatever the hell is going on with her and that girlfriend/wife of hers. Abby inexplicably still exists. Devon is here. And that's not counting all the other countless kids I forgot.

I do think drugged-up Nick finally killing off Chelsea is a great idea.

I don't either. In fact, I think 90% of Y&R are characters who were DOA or who are living past their expiration date. But the unthinkable - phasing out the Newmans, Abbotts and whoever else while phasing in new characters (or, at the very least, reactivating the Brookses and Fosters through the youngest generations) - is called the unthinkable for a reason. It needs to be done, and now, but good luck getting anyone to do it!

Noah Newman, in particular, reminds me of OLTL's Dan Wolek, another "legacy" character who became radioactive through years of bad casting and aimless storytelling, to the point where he (and his father) were virtually forgotten, despite being the nephew of the show's central heroine and the offspring of one of its' original, star-crossed romances.

Thank you, I have them once in a while. ;)

Thankfully Devon and Abby have been made recurring and seem happy to appear when needed. One can only imagine the stories they'd be subjected to if they were contract. Same with Mariah/Tessa

I'd definitely dump Phyllis but La Stafford seems untouchable. The only option is to clean up the character somehow. Remember when she got (unbelievably)community service and there was hope that might be shown and lead to some redemption? Maybe Matt gets his memory back and Phyllis is the one to expose him.

Noah is viable-get him away from Granny Siena. Faith, Allie and Reed are waiting in the wings. I'd accept a return from Cjharlie or Mattie.

Chance's death can easily be reversed(he was working undercover on something) but I want Connor Floyd back.

What is there for Billy/Sally? Marriage and a baby? Yawn. same with Cane/Lily. Where are the obstacles?

BTW Lauren was very good as Jill.

I'd have Phyllis realize Matt has been faking his amnesia just moments before he kills her.
