William Lipton, The Runarounds, Prime Video

The next game in the “Call of Duty” franchise will drop on Friday, October 23, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2, according to developers Activision and Infinity Ward, who recently released the first trailer, which has already amassed millions of views across multiple platforms.

Following the announcement, former “General Hospital” star William Lipton (ex-Cameron Webber) took to Instagram to share that he is part of the game’s voice cast, though he did not reveal any specifics about his character, even though his performance can be seen highlighted in the trailer through voice and motion capture.

William Lipton, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

According to a logline for the game, War erupts on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea launches a full-scale invasion that threatens to destabilize the world in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. A young squad of South Korean soldiers fights to survive on the collapsing front lines, while half a world away, a vengeful Captain Price (Barry Sloane) wages a personal war from the shadows as he stays one step ahead of those hunting him. As Price’s off-book mission collides with the forces behind the invasion, the war spreads beyond anyone’s control.

“Hey, Mom, I’m in Call of Duty # MW4,” commented Lipton in his Instagram post while sharing the game’s official trailer, and warning viewers that it contains “graphic content.”

In addition to Lipton, reports from Variety and Resonate reveal that “Beef” and “The Last of Us” star Young Mazino will voice Private Park, while actor Barry Sloane (“Hollyoaks,” “Revenge”) returns as the popular game character Captain John Price. Luke Tennie (“Shrinking”) voices Lieutenant West, according to an Instagram post in which he said, “Pretty sure I made lifelong friends working on this.” Prisca Kim (“Beef,” “Loot”) and Lanny Joon (“Baby Driver,” “Hollywood Wasteland”) are also among the initially announced cast.

“The Modern Warfare 4 campaign is a return to form, darker and more dangerous than ever before,” said Infinity Ward in a statement on X (formerly Twitter) while formally announcing the game. “Play through new perspectives as the squad of South Korean grunts faces war against their will amidst a full-scale invasion. Operator turned outlaw, John Price is forced to face the consequences of his actions. Experience visceral close-quarters combat, big war amphibious invasions, high-octane car chases, and more.”

As for the technology behind the game’s structure, the company says, “Gameplay is king in #MW4 Multiplayer. We’ve built our most fluid movement suite to date with hundreds of new additions to gameplay and weapon mechanics. We’re launching with iconic, visually distinct maps ranging from 6v6 and Gunfight to large-scale experiences. Classic Perk structure. Apex Attachments. Two Prestige paths. So much more to share.” In a separate post, they noted, “90% of the footage from the Reveal Trailer is in-engine and trust us, there’s more where that come from.”

“Every aspect of ‘Modern Warfare 4’ is anchored in the game’s narrative,” the company continued. “Every feature, every decision needs to feel authentic to what Modern Warfare is, and that includes cosmetics and collabs. We’re committed to keeping it grounded and transparent, and we want to hear from you on what you’d like to see in our game.”

Check out the game trailer below, but, as Lipton previously noted, be warned of “graphic content.”
