The concept of Dr.Rolf is kind of hilarious when you think about it. On the show he's just this wacky recurring character but in-universe he's probably one of the most important people on the planet. He can bring back the dead but he mostly works and has total loyalty to a family of criminals/businessmen in a town in the midwest.

And yet he can't bring back someone who died from just a few burns or from just a measly little stab wound 😂😂😂

  • At this point can't we be happy Deidre and Days get some mainstream press? I found the interview fine and normal. The Today show isn't going to be a super in depth interview about everything Marlena

  • It's more confusing than usual because Christopher Sean looks younger than his age and Martha has looked matronly for 20 years to me, lol.

Putting this in spoilers because there's brief clips from Monday in it, but it's mostly non-spoiler.

I love Deidre, but it's sad that Suzanne Rogers hasn't been mentioned once, considering they worked together for almost 50 years.

Obviously there is an issue between Suzanne and Deidre, but I don't think it's odd her name hasn't come up. Suzanne never mentions Deidre/Marlena either. Tbh, I don't recall either bringing one another up often in interviews even when they were on better terms.

They haven't really worked together closely in decades. I don't consider them to be a core relationship for either character. The Marlena/Maggie friendship started to be phased out in the 80's when Marlena became closer peers to Kim, Kayla, and Hope.

Can we give the possession questions a rest? 😅

Deidre spent decades on Days before that storyline. I'd love to hear more about Jed Allan, Wayne Northrop, Macdonald Carey, Frances Reid, John Clarke, and her memories of working with Christie Clark, Ali Sweeney, Joe Mascolo and Eileen Davidson. There's a treasure trove of stories being overlooked.

Happy (belated) 50th Anniversary, Deidre Hall!

And a 50 minute episode to go with it!

And welcome back, Paul and Andrew! We've missed you both a lot 😍😊😊

I love that Paul and Belle were there for Marlena today, and took the trip down memory lane with her, complete with many flashbacks. It was nice to see Marlena talk about how she came to Salem, her relationship with Samantha and how her death affected her, DJ's death, her children and grandchildren and her relationships with Don, Roman and especially John. It's little moments like this that make Days what it is. Fair warning though, the flashback montage of John and Marlena was a bit of a tearjerker.

I do think that Brady, and some of Marlena's grandchildren should have appeared in today's episode though lol

I also liked how Andrew took charge today when it came to Cat and her plan for EJ. Andrew, implying that one of the reasons that he's determined to help take down EJ is because of Sami was a nice surprise. And all the more reason why Andrew should be on the canvas full time. Like I said in the spoiler thread, as much as I love Christopher Sean, maybe it's time to recast so that Paul and Andrew can be onscreen full time. Or at the very least, separate them for a little while, so that Andrew can be in Salem permanently and play a much bigger part in the Rafe/Cat storyline... and also get into a heated rivalry with Dimitri 😉😍😂😂

The fact that Days started an ISA-related storyline right after Andrew, a legacy character who's an ISA agent and played by an actor that fans fell in love with and who fits into the canvas so effortlessly, got married and left Salem will always be ridiculous.

And while I did somewhat enjoy today's round of EJ vs. Kristen, I also think that it really could've waited until tomorrow, so that more of the episode was focused on Deidre/Marlena and her family.

You'd have to get an actual soap fan to interview her then 😂😂😂

Errol, perhaps? 👍

Yeah, I get tired of the Possession questions too. Does Deidre have anything new left to say about it that she hasn't said in the last 30 years lol? She's a good sport about it, but it must get repetitive. I wonder if the Possession never happened the reporters would be forced to do research on Marlena/Deidre and actually ask her a variety of questions.

Poor Deidre spent 50 years building a legendary character and every interview still goes back to the devil 😆

I'd ask her which Marlena storyline she thinks is the most underrated. I'd also love to hear more about the early years with Macdonald Carey, Frances Reid, John Clarke and Jed Allan and what it was like playing Marlena during those iconic Roman and Marlena years from 1981 to 1984.

I don't have hopes that anyone but a soap journalist would ask her those questions. It would be lovely to have a really long length article/podcast where she went through all her iconic stories, co-stars, her least favorite stories, primetime work, etc in depth.

I liked 70s (and early 80s) Marlena best so I was glad to see those flashbacks. I guess they couldn't use flashbacks with Wayne Northrup because of the current recast, which is a shame since her pairing with him was so popular. Is Paul supposed to be older than Belle? She called him her big brother.

Regarding that interview, to be fair, Diedre was the one to first bring up the possession storyline. Also, that's a soap-centered DAYS podcast, so it's not as if the "soap journalist" was blind that 50 years meant working with a lot of different people.

I'm more critical of these supposed DAYS superfan podcasts than I am of, for example, a TODAY interview with Craig Melvin. The soap demo is watching these You Tube videos and expects more.

Regardless, Diedre Hall is a pro at all of this. Even if the reporter asks a foolish or weird question or makes a mistake, her follow-through is not only professional but elegantly kind.

Wonderful tribute Deidre today. The writers hit every note perfectly. I met Deidre many years ago and she was lovely to talk to. IMG_3407.jpeg
