As of right now, none, unfortunately. Wasted opportunity.

Michael Roark was the best casting the show had done in a very long time, and they totally squandered it. If he'd been cast as a Dimera and not a Horton, they would have kept him. I don't understand how this show fails to write for Horton legacy characters but can bring a Dimera back from the dead more times than I can count.

From my point of view, I think it genuinely came down to Jeremy being a desire of Janet and Noel did not want to keep the character. That's what it came down to in my eyes.

Getting rid of Michael Roark is nuts. This will be followed by a huge cast purge of young actors in a few months.

Just cancel this show already.

Link to the Cwikly/Ford interviews from one year ago when their writing began airing. Note that they say they'll bring in Hortons.

Okay so what Hortons did they bring in, and which ones did they keep?

They brought in Hope, Will, and Ciara (and Ciara's children) for several episodes around the time of John Black's passing. They brought in several Hortons for the anniversary week in November -- some aired for only a couple of days.

Jennifer has been popping in from time to time all year. Jeremy aired for 6 months.

Lani & Eli, and their children Jules and Carver -- popped in at Christmas and recently returned, not sure how long they'll be here this round?

It seems that the only Horton they brought in to keep was Will's daughter Arianna, and then same character recast.

What permanent Hortons are on canvas now, in addition to Arianna? Julie, Shawn-D, JJ, Thomas, and Charlotte all live in Salem. Jennifer is a periodic visitor. I'm unclear whether Eli and his twins are staying? (sorry I'm behind on following everything).

Some of us speculated that they might make Liam Selejko the son of Ivy Selejko and Mike Horton, which would have made Liam and Jeremy brothers. Selejko is such an unusual surname, that has to be intentional. It seemed obvious, yet there was no reveal and Jeremy is gone. If it were true, then Liam's son would be another Horton, too.

Ivy's brother(s) and father were criminals, in some sort of gang. When Liam's background was told to Abe, it was said that Liam came from some unfortunate circumstances (and didn't know how to read). Maybe he's the son of Ivy's brother Snake or Speed?

Bo enlisted the original Theo Carver (Abe's brother and Theo's uncle) to help him defeat the gang the Selejko family was in. The elder Theo could be considered by the Selejko family to be responsible for their downfall, so it would explain Liam bullying the younger Theo in high school. But none of that has arisen in any dialogue in the past six months.

How old is Liam? Well they are saying he bullied Theo in school. He's clearly close in age to Theo (just unclear how old Theo is now) . I suppose Liam could be older.

I think the Theo/Liam age span is clearer than whatever Gabi said on April 15 about her having known Theo since school.

As nice as it would've been to get more Hortons, it would've taken Jason47 or another Days historian/big fan to have to had written that reveal in order to make it work, without screwing up any timelines/ages, etc.

Mike and Ivy had a brief flirtation when Michael T. Weiss first debuted in the role in 1985. He was there for her when Pete and Melissa were on the run, and delivered her and Pete's baby too. But from what I saw, it seems like that teasing was pretty much forgotten about once Mike met Robin. A little while later, after Robin broke up with Mike, he started dating Ivy, but it was basically just a rebound for him. Eventually, Mike and Robin reunited and Ivy left town, I think.

You could've said that Ivy was pregnant at the time, but that would've made Liam older than Jeremy, and way older than Theo. And screwed up the timelines even more than they already were lol

So maybe it was a good thing that Liam didn't turn out to be a Horton. If anything, he should be in a triangle with Ari/Theo, which could also weave in Gabi/Philip, and their drama.

They could do what they did with David and Valerie to make Eli's age work: say they reconnected years later away from Salem and hooked up, and she got pregnant but didn't tell him about the baby. They could've slotted this retconned reunion either between Michael T. Weiss and Roark Critchlow's runs (so 1990-1993) or after Mike and Carrie broke up offscreen (early/mid-2000s, which would put Liam's birth around the same time as Theo's onscreen one).

Welcome back, Shawn! Another legacy character who should be featured much, much more.

It was nice to finally get some follow up with his storyline. Him and Jada were sweet today as he tried showing off for her lol they do have chemistry and I really hope that they get featured more. Somehow weaving Belle, and her drama, into this would be a good idea as well. I'm also interested in seeing what happens now that it looks like he may be getting out of the hospital soon. And he looked good too.

I also liked that Stephanie got a chance to express her feelings about everything that happened with Jeremy, first with Kayla, then with Marlena. It's always good to see her mix it up with other characters. And her and Marlena work well together. Even though I think they should've built it up a little more, I think that Stephanie's actions make sense based on everything that's happened to her lately. And I like that she's so determined to not let anyone have control over her anymore. After the last couple of years, she really could use that mentality lol besides the massive foreshadowing with the gun, Stephanie having that mindset could lead to something good happening for her and everybody around her. She definitely needs an alternative to Alex too, especially now that Jeremy's gone.

As for Johnny and Sophia... their scenes weren't bad but I probably would've liked them a lot more if they had involved any character other than Sophia. This is one character who certainly could've been sent packing before Jeremy.

The cliffhanger ending was good too.

Agreed.

That's the only way that I could see 'Liam being Mike's son' working.

It's a little strange they chose Selejko as Liam's last name. I get that it adds a bit of interest to the character, but the Selejko family was on the show so long ago and were so inconsequential. I wouldn't mind it if Liam was Mike's son. It would help if Mike or Jeremy were on the canvas though lol.

I personally don't think the show knows what they are doing with Liam. He pops up every month or so and his character development is moving at a snail's pace. Considering how close Wayne and Deidre were I am surprised they haven't used Liam with Marlena at all.

One thing about my Liam/Ivy theory that (maybe) doesn't fit: Abe was on the police force when all that went down with the Selejko gang family years ago. Julie gave Abe the literacy tutoring file about Liam, and Abe read about his background in that file. But maybe, since he's an adult, the file simply said that he had a troubled background but didn't give details about any specific criminal history of relatives (if they had one) ? Maybe the Selejko surname didn't jog any memory for Abe. Abe might have remembered the name of the gang "the Vipers", and maybe the gang member nicknames "Snake" and "Speed". I guess he probably wouldn't have remembered their legal surname from 40 years ago.

They could've said Liam was Roman's kid, the product of a romance he had had after WN's second departure from the show and before JT.

If Liam were Roman's son, then he couldn't date Roman's granddaughter Arianna. Have Liam and Ari kissed yet? If not (or if only that), then it could be halted before anything further happens.

Roman has unfortunately way too many kids. Making the Gemini Twins his kids was a choice.

They've kissed.

Well Kate and Roman could reminisce about Cassie and Lucas not knowing they were half-siblings, getting into bed together, and just about to have sex, when they were interrupted by their other siblings who told them the truth before anything further happened.
