-- Watching Jacob berate Grayson on the elevator over Ashley actually had me LOL. Talk about cosplaying an undercover cop.

-- Martin works as a member if the House. Talk about him running for president was ridiculous and so is this talk of a Senate run. Why can't this show be satisfied with stories that seem realistic rather than punching too high? They did the same thing with Anita being an EGOT instead of excelling in one or two disciplines.

-- Are we supposed to warm up to Joey after hearing about his past? Not working for me.

-- I'm surprised the show doesn't offer a website for purchase of the ChelseaKat bags. Is it because they think their viewers are smart enough to find the site on their own? The purses aren't cheap -- the Anita Baby bag is $149.

-- I'm not sure why we got Naomi and Jacob meeting up for sex. Just makes him seem even more careless as an undercover cop.

Yeah...she might be the weakest in the cast when it comes to those heavy emotional scenes. I was surprised at how Deanna ate her up on what was likely her first day.

I feel like that was intentional though. Vanessa was supposed to be at a disadvantage in that moment.

I get what you all were saying about the lack of a set for the clinic. Honestly, I think a building front for the clinic for the press conference/grand opening would have sufficed for now and would have elevated the whole thing. Everyone gathered at Uptown was a big oh ok here again. 🙄

Deanna is okay. Neither here nor there with her just yet.

I think it is time they repurpose sets. Ashley's character does not need an apartment. Eva can do without as well and should probably move in with mama if Leslie ever gets a set. Caffeine fix needs a makeover. Maybe add a counter with fancy espresso machines and some menu boards. Also make it more cozy.

The blood plasma ring story isn't bad, but it is being limited by the lack of sets. Jacob is a bit cringe at times, but otherwise I think it has potential.

Given the current conditions of our Senate I don't think Martin running for it in an imaginary story is that farfetched. We have seen high officials on soaps before.

I like the Impaler story but the lack of sets is a problem, as is Jacob currently being the only real keyhole. I'd like to see more of Smitty's solo work here, and Ashley and Shanice getting more involved.

What I would do is have Jacob/Naomi and Ashley both live in the same building and use one set that can be redressed for both of them. Then the extra space can be used for something else, like a place for Vanessa. I also agree with you suggestion that Eva should move in with Leslie once her set is ready to go.

I did love having Kat move in with the Grans. I love how soaps tend to have a bunch of people under one household. If these are supposed to be big mansions it does make sense and is good for character interaction. They could've easily had Dani/Bill (now Andre) living there as well and that would open up even more space. That could literally be Vanessa's set.

I also wish they'd come up with something else for Joey instead of that ugly casino set. Couldn't they just make it a seedy looking bar or restaurant instead?

I have had a very busy week so I haven't had time to play catch up. However, I DID watch clips of the read and OMG YES!!!! And the SilkPress and Eva's reaction took me out. I hollered.

People said the Deanna actress looks like she could be Whitley Gilbert's daughter and I can't unseen that. I also can't unseen that she's really was giving a young Drucilla Winters.

Well tbf, they have a few times. I simply wish they would use it more because it is very much needed. And outside shoots.

Funny to think at the start they boasted about 27 sets.

At the risk of having Judge Judy raise her eyebrows(again) the set situation is a problem.

By creating all these businesses/occupations they have contributed to the problem.

Did Vanessa nead to be a realtor when it is now ignored. Derek a fireman. Isaiah and the twins at Banneker that we don't see.Creating a bedroom set only at first for Jacob and Naomi who has no office.

Now Shanice is in a romance with Ted but has no home set. Neither does Tomas.

It's restricting the development of stories.

Derek as apoliceman was a no brainer. Have several characters working in one place a la the hospital eg Martin or Vanessa's office.

Is it me or did Joey imply that his dad was involved in some sort of organized crime? Because that was the impression I was getting during his conversation with Vanessa in yesterday's episode.

That was pretty clear to me.

Can't disagree with any of that. The occupations weren't thought through properly, and nothing has been done to rectify any of it since the show started. The sets problem is worse than it was in the first 6 months.

The airport mall coffee shop appeared multiple times on Thursday and Friday to the point of ridiculousness. Characters leave eating establishments and parties and end up there for coffee? Where they run into other characters? I can't believe this.

It's worse than Crimson Lights on Y&R, because at least that's a full set and doesn't look like some corner location that no business owner works want.

Last week we got Eva sitting in Orphey Gene's 4 days in a row because they had nowhere else to put her. Naomi has no office so she has her laptop open there all the time -- with a meal right next to her. It doesn't work for me.

Joey was given a home set. Why? I'd rather they upgrade that backroom casino mess.

But at least the furniture is moved every time we see Martin and Smitty's place depending on who's visiting and how the conversation goes. Those wingback chairs are constantly on the move, even if they never face the fireplace that is always blocked.

The problem I notice that doesn't seem to have been fixed thus far in season 2 is that each episode seem to have strong conversational scenes, but there is little to no action on a consistent basis.

The Friday cliffhanger was good because something was actually happening that could potentially advance the plot. Otherwise, I've noticed a lot of building and talking with little to no action (in other words, all talk/no action).

Precisely. Lots of talking and coffee sipping, but there's no energy in the writing, no momentum, no tension. No stakes. Stories go on so long they lose any importance: if Hayley's fake pregnancy was revealed now, it would be hard to believe, hard to remember, hard to prove -- and therefore inconsequential.

Moreover, it's the umpteenth week where I have had trouble going through Mon-Tue. Then Wednesday things pick up and get a bit better. But the first couple of shows every week feel like a chore.

The undercover story with Jacob is so silly. They obviously don't have the budget for something like this. Most of it is taking place literally in front of a brick wall!

And that brick wall is an upgrade, considering things could have taken place at Uptown (think of Hayley and Randy's constant meetings).

Of course hey had o give him an ALIAS. I swear this show can't go one week without coming up with an alias for one of their characters. Is anyone keeping track of all the aliases? I've lost count!

Also - Jacob lying to Greyson that he's not undercover is the type of convoluted plot point that this show does all the time.

Ted and Shanice are great together and I've seen some complain about him still living in the hotel, but I think it's fine.

He's been living in that hotel room fo nearly 1 year. Keith Richardson hasn't known Ted outside that room since he's taken over the role. It's so unrealistic because a person could never stand living in a hotel room for that long, as hotel rooms become too alienating.

But hey, at least beefcake Joey has an apartment with a fancy fireplace!

-- What the hell is this writing for Mona? Did Tyler Perry enter the chat? The Bible thumping and preaching is embarrassing, especially since Randy and Lynette weren't even doing anything. Why ruin this character?

She's always been a hypocrite and a class traitor, not to mention there was a reason she was Leslie's BFF. How dare she wack a person in the head like that. Finally showing her true colors.

Oh, yeah, I talked about it yesterday for sure since I started my rewatch of last week (which was a pretty good week complete with a Friday cliffhanger), but I've been talking about it for a while since an article came out that I guess you could call spoiler. When I mention it, I want to say I'm being as vague as I can just in case people don't know, but I think we discussed the 'it' in this thread if not the end of last month's thread.

Then again...better safe than sorry. Probably just go at what I posted on Sunday re: the writing.

Did you eventually respond to GLATWT88's question? If so, I was curious too but missed the response.

Also, could you please consider consolidating your replies into a single post instead of making several posts in a row? The forum has a multi-quote feature that makes it easy to respond to multiple messages in one reply, and using it would help keep the thread a lot easier to follow.

One more small thing: it seems that when you press Enter, it creates a double line break instead of just one. That ends up adding a lot of extra spacing in your posts. If you could adjust that to a single line break, it would make your messages much cleaner and easier to read. Thanks!

I actually really like Lynette. I hope we can rein her in a bit after the initial messiness that she is going to cause so that she can stay on the canvas for a while.

I agree. She makes things watchable.

Random comments:

  • Deanna is giving me life.

  • I was SHOCKED they did not have a clinic set ready for the launch. This is abysmal. Characters talking to no end about what happened off-screen, and the constant addition of never seen before characters (now we have Heather, Olek the photographer - and Anthony, which I can live with-) are bringing me to stop watching. I guess I can still keep the show as background noise if anything.

  • I'm overdosing on Joey and his grand love story. But I guess I'm happy that his extra chair is not facing the wall anymore. It's not standing in the corner anymore!

The truth is that she out acted Lauren Buglioli in those scenes. Her Vanessa is just not good at all when emotion and vulnerability is called for.

Truth. While she's grown in the role, deep emotion is not in her wheelhouse. For a moment I thought she was going to snot-cry, ala Kelley Meighan Hensley.
