I should add, however, that I appreciate that they're not presenting Hobie as this well-chiseled hunk with abs you could grate cheese on. Amell's in good shape, but not to the point where he looks like some over-the-hill Ken doll.

People all over the globe watched the original series for one thing - well, TWO things, if you wanna get technical about it - and the quality of writing and acting was not one of 'em, lol. So, yeah, I agree: if you're gonna do this at all, then it has to center around Hobie (and some very gorgeous, young men and women, of course, lol).

LOL! Exactly. If this gets picked up, at least it'll be interesting to see how much of a disaster it is lmao

I remember stuff like the earthquake episode at the end of the NBC run and I guess stuff like that would fit well into the current 9-1-1 era. But yeah, the writing definitively wasn't a priority, especially once it moved to syndication. There was definitively a lot of camp.

And hey, if this is successful maybe they can revive Pacific Blue?

The only series I want to see rebooted/revived at this point would be "Silk Stalkings." A low-budget, pastel-wrapped piece of excrement that bordered on soft-core, but I still miss it so much, lol.

Why not? Mario Lopez is always looking for an excuse to be shirtless.

Honestly, most of primetime today looks uninspired, generic and poorly produced.

Agreed.

And the NBC Chicago shows always look so... clean. Not nitty-gritty realistic like the days of NYPD Blue.

Baywatch already has a 12-episode series order at FOX for fall 2026-2027. The question is, will they be able to do more than 12 episodes if it does really well, and how soon can they get more episodes on the air?

There is definitely a way to do it that could be reminiscent or 911 or the CHICAGO series while also having a lot of relationship drama and tons of eye candy. But it's not exactly an easy balance to strike. I wonder if they'll go for a lighter tone or just dead-serious.

Oh, interesting! I didn't know that. So sounds like they think they've got something strong.

Fox currently has a lot of "limited" series since their scripted time slots are so few and far between. Only "Doc" seems to score orders higher than 10-13 episodes. Since they're already starting filming, then the majority of the order will be filmed before it hits the air.
