Need To Know

  • “General Hospital” averaged more than two million viewers for the sixth time in seven weeks.

  • NBC aired the first full week of the 2026 Winter Olympics (Milano Cortina), fully preempting “NBC News Daily.”

  • “The Young and the Restless” ranked No. 1 among soaps in Women 18-49.

NBC aired its first full week of wall-to-wall coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics from Milano Cortina, preempting “NBC News Daily” during the week of February 9-13, 2026. “TODAY 3rd Hour” and “TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle” were either preempted in key markets or were retitled.

Despite increased competition from the Olympics, most daytime broadcast shows sustained their recent audience growth, even with minor week-to-week declines. “The View” was the only program to see ratings gains compared to the previous week, while both “Beyond the Gates” and “The Young and the Restless” posted the smallest drops among Total Viewers. Additionally, with few exceptions, most shows were up year over year among Households and Total Viewers.

For the week, “The View” averaged 2.806 million viewers, up +10,000 week-to-week, +241,000 year-over-year and +611,000 over its comparable performance during the same week in 2022, when NBC broadcast the Winter Olympics from Beijing. In the key demos, the veteran talk show was flat both week-to-week and year-over-year among Women 18-49 (0.25 rating). Among Women 25-54 (0.37 rating), the program was flat week-to-week and up +0.01 year-over-year.

Averaging more than three million for the third consecutive week, “The Young and the Restless” (3.333 million) was down 36,000 viewers compared with its week-ago performance, but marked significant year-over-year gains of +193,000. Compared to its performance four years earlier, the show was down just 158,000 viewers. Among Women 18-49 (0.24 rating), the soap was up +0.02 week to week, ranking as the No. 1 soap in the key demo. Meanwhile, among Women 25-54, the long-running soap opera retained its week-ago 0.41 rating.

“General Hospital” (2.102 million) held up extremely well, marking the sixth time in seven weeks that the ABC daytime drama has averaged more than two million viewers while also posting year-over-year growth of +170,000. Its 2026 performance was down just 59,000 viewers over 2022. The show saw a small week-to-week uptick among Women 25-54, up +0.01, with its 0.24 rating placing it just ahead of time slot competitor “Beyond the Gates.”

Speaking of “Beyond the Gates,” the soap opera saw the smallest week-to-week decline among Total Viewers, down 25,000, and was down 76,000 viewers from the year-ago average performance of two half-hour repeat broadcasts of “The Price is Right” (1.713 million vs. 1.789 million). The soap opera ranked last for the second consecutive week in Women 18-49 (0.13 rating). The show’s performance among Women 25-54 was a bit better, up +0.02 week to week to a 0.23 rating. On the positive side, the drama series was up +207,000 viewers compared to the 2022 performance of “The Talk.”

Though down 93,000 viewers week-to-week, “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.852 million) was up +122,000 viewers compared to the same week last year and was down just 113,000 from its performance during the comparable week in 2022. Among Women 25-54, the half-hour drama series was up +0.03 week to week to a 0.36 rating, the largest gain across daytime broadcast.

Although it declined by 96,000 viewers week to week, “GMA3” (1.505 million) was up +0.04 among Women 18-49 (0.17 rating), topping “General Hospital” for the third time this season in the demo. Meanwhile, compared to 2022, the news program was down just 74,000 viewers.

Wrap-Up

What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of February 9-13, 2026, among Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including week-to-week and year-over-year comparisons (where available).

Note*: Starting with the 2025-2026 television season, Nielsen ratings are based on the Live+Same Day Big Data + Panel model, with figures under the 2025 column based on the former Live+Same Day Panel-only model (2024-2025 season).

This Week vs. 2025 comparisons for “GMA3” are based on the prior performances of its predecessor, “GMA3: What You Need to Know.” CBS aired repeats of “The Price is Right” following the conclusion of “The Talk.” “Beyond the Gates” premiered during the week of February 24-28, 2025.
