It wouldn't be a P & G soap without establishing the holiday traditions.

I'm hoping 2026 will be the year that a 2nd family will be established with their own stories and traditions... and that Darlene Hawthorne is introduced on the show to get her perspective being a Boy Mom. Does she favor Jacob? Does she favor Luke? Does she favor Izaiah? And would she approve of Eva dating her youngest son or the refreshing twist is that she approves of Eva and doesn't approve of Naomi.

Which means I'll be getting my wish next year.

Lovely.

Ted is an idiot. Like why in the hell would he go and tell Nicole about Vernon's "affair". Even if he believed it to be true, it wasn't his place. There was no winning for him. He didn't even frame it as I think Vernon might be cheating. He straight up said Vernon was without any concrete proof.

Probably what Ted should have said is, "Nicole, ole weird-ass Leslie is running around saying Vernon is having an affair with Sharon. Now, I believe she's wrong. But on the off-chance she's right, I wanted to let you know about it so you wouldn't think I'm keeping secrets from you. She's most likely wrong, though." How hard would that have been?

He was thinking of himself big time. Had it been true he didn't want it coming out that he knew and didn't tell Nicole which would ruin any infinitesimal chance at reuniting with her. Now some viewers took it as him being vindictive and being of the misery loves company logic. He was slightly nasty when he mentioned Vernon being perfect.

This would’ve been so much better. Especially considering he himself didn’t believe Leslie and then he randomly decided it must be true.

This aspect about the way the rumour was conveyed annoyed the heck out of me. It was so contrived and cack-handed, all so it could lead to that ‘cute’ moment when Vernon revealed the truth of the matter. It made Ted, Nicole and Dani all look like vectors of statements rather than actual people, even if we were ‘meant’ to understand why the sisters’ own experiences would cause them to act how they did.

Is it true that the show hasn't yet told a new romance story with 2 Black contract characters under 40?

I guess technically this is true... I was going to say Chelsea and Madison, but Madison isn't contract. Same with Eva and Isaiah, with Isaiah not yet on contract.

Smitty and Martin's kids aren't contract, so their little relationships don't fit.

Karla is just over 40 so Dani and Andre I guess don't work.

Jacob and Naomi were already a couple when the show started, so they're out.

So yeah, I guess you're right.

Thank you for the explanation, much appreciated! I thought it was mentioned that Dani was over 50 in the first week (obviously Karla doesn't look it), but I could be mistaken.

This is borderline insane. I honestly can't believe they let this happen.

You're welcome! I just looked it up and Karla is 44 years old. I must have missed the 50 year mention in the show.

Since things usually happen after we bring them up, I want to throw Pam's name out there in hopes we get to see her cooky butt again soon. I've missed her! :)

I still love Leslie but I can't with her wanting to know the details about how good her daughter's sex was with Isaiah.... gross haha.

date: Monday, December 29, 2025 | Jamey Giddens, Danielle Paige | Michael V. Pomarico

Thoughts:

  • Izaiah is moving awfully fast by labeling Eva as his girlfriend. Perhaps this is why Yolanda broke up with him? He might be someone who jumps the gun a bit too quick.

  • Aw, I love a catch-up between Dani and Vanessa. This is so sweet to see them keeping themselves company, as well as sharing gabfest discussions over the holiday happenings.

  • Dana is really trying to make her mark by stealing Samantha's idea for the free clinic. She will stop at nothing, will she?

  • I know it is rough right now and things are looking down; I can only hope that Anita begins to see some positives. She will need that as she continues her fight.

  • Go Eva, go! Use that brain of yours!

  • As much as I enjoy Nicole and Carlton catching up... it would have been even better for Carlton to have been there celebrating with her.

  • Anita is handling herself with grace and poise and her terror is understandable, but I appreciate how cautious and communicative Dr Bauer is with her. And then Vernon comforting her and standing strong not only with her but also for her.

  • Poor Rick. He is being hounded by two women with two very different offers. But despite him not being interested, he at least entertained them, and I am sure got a laugh or two from it as well.

  • When Dana is this close to getting it right, she crosses a line that should not be crossed between mother and child. At all.

  • Well damn, Nicole... that was some passionate kiss right there. Forget Stella, Nicole is getting her groove back and right on time for the New Year!

Notes:

  • Ugh. Starting the week off with a breakdown by writer2. Let us not, please! But thank goodness for Paige's involvement; I just wish she would be better paired.

  • Look at this, a soap opera not extending a holiday beyond what it should be! How refreshing; the others should pay close attention.

  • The Shade Room? People still follow that drab?

  • The continued, realistic portrayal of what one goes through with a cancer battle is so amazing. This is the kind of topical soap-telling that American soaps need to be doing. No one else does it like Beyond the Gates. NO ONE. It is outstanding how details are neither skimmed over nor are they falsified for the sake of writing a story. This is well thought out and executed perfectly.

I agree with this so far. It's early days, but so far it's been amazing and really emotional. I loved today's episode with Anita/Vernon, and I know I'll tear up when they have to tell Nicole and Dani.

Leslie potentially getting entangled with Joey works for me as well. Leslie should def. Be more involved with the seedier residents of town so I’m happy we’re moving in that direction with her and Marcel and her potentially now working with Joey.
