That sort of novel is one of his main interests, so he tries to put it into soaps (but doesn't do it well at all).

No.. and I don’t know what kind of show would suit his writing style, but it certainly is not soaps.

TBF, I always thought Bill Bell and Kay Alden's Y&R carried some noir-ish elements, especially in regards to the directing, the music, the lighting and camera angles and even some of the dialogue.
