OMG, catching up on this thread, and I was about to post the same thing. That and Bo & Hope as bounty hunters, oy...

Can't forget the Great Salem Earthquake either 😂😂

But I remember liking Sami's story.

That punch Holly threw Tate's way was a shock for me, especially the fact that it was actually well-directed and looked like it hurt. Holly was channeling her inner Emma Roberts.

It definitely was staged very well.

And the fact that it was written or played like a big joke has me really interested in seeing what happens next.

Andre (Stefano's nephew) for some reason got plastic surgery to look just like Tony.

The original story, at least as my unreliable memory recalls, goes like this: Daphne (Tony’s mother) left Stefano and took Tony with her when he was a boy. Years later, Stefano’s brother (Andre’s father) died, and Andre came to live with Stefano. He was treated more like a servant than family.

Eventually, Tony returned for a visit; presumably meeting Megan Hathaway, who had spent summers with Stefano as a teenager. Andre, desperate for Stefano’s approval and eager to undermine Megan, underwent plastic surgery to look like Tony. Stefano never truly liked Andre, but he valued Andre’s unwavering loyalty, unlike Tony, who was hot-headed and unpredictable.

After years of estrangement, Tony married Liz Chandler somewhere in Europe (the country was never specified). They separated, but never officially divorced. Tony later arrived in Salem to win Liz back and saw an opportunity for Stefano to expand his shady operations with a Salem branch. Then Stefano showed up, followed by his common-law-wife Daphne, who dropped the bombshell that Renee was Tony’s sister—and the rest is history. (Even as a kid, I thought it was funny the number of times they said 'common-law-wife').

Truly, the whole Andre backstory was told in exposition in one episode, right after they captured him.  If you blinked, you missed it.

That being said, I'd like to know Tony's reaction to Cat's fraud.  Jennifer and Julie can't let it go.  But, Tony was also very intertwined in Chad and Abigail's romance, so it would be fun to know his feelings about Cat working as EJ's hospital-based assistant.

That was Andre! See?! It's craziness.

WTG, Maggie! 👍

It was nice seeing her stand up to Tony and not accept his demand for the company. I hope she continues to be used more in this storyline. Btw, Maggie and Tony are old friends?

Days is still stretching Brady a little thin though lol but I don't mind him becoming a part of the business storyline. I don't agree with him suggesting that Philip and Xander give in to Tony and hand over the company but I like that it possibly puts him at odds with the two of them and Alex. That could lead to something interesting happening. And, his reasons for his suggestion did make sense.

And I have to admit, I saw a little chemistry between Stephanie and EJ too. Not a lot, but some. I actually wouldn't mind them going there at some point with the two of them. That could have huge ripple effects across the canvas, and could also be tied to some upcoming returns. Plus, I don't necessarily hate Stephanie and Alex as a couple (now anyway lol) but I think it's time for them to do something different with Stephanie. And I liked that she and EJ finally started to plan the big gala to celebrate the opening of the free clinic.

Chad/Brady was a nice surprise too. Interactions between characters who usually don't share scenes together are always good. As for Chad and Cat, I still say they should've had Chad lie to her about supporting Mark's parole. That would've made them a lot more interesting to me.

But at the same time, congratulations Mark.

Hahaha!

So in my own lil soap opera head, I just say to myself Tony DiMera was Tony DiMera in 1993-1995 and again in 2002-2003, and at some point in '03, Andre made the switch, and we never had Real Tony back until John & Marlena saw him on a tropical island with two bikini clad ladies in tow. Yes, it makes no sense, but whatever. From then on, it's a total blur who was who for me, and I don't much care to even try to figure it out. Andre died and came back so many times I assume there was Andre I and Andre II.

Honestly, I just liked the Tony plotline of the mid-90's and his return in '02, so I'm keeping that as canon in my head. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Even though they don't have much history together, it was still nice to see Tony have a scene with someone who debuted before this last decade. Plus, his scenes with Maggie made him feel more human, with no traces of wondering if Andre still lurks beneath. Maggie herself was used wonderfully, being the true head of the Kiriakis family, no matter how weird that will always sound to me. Though I did find it funny when I remembered that technically Alex has actually been a part of the Kiriakis family longer than all of them.

I hope Mark is coming back to Salem. I could see EJ hiring him for the free clinic and when whatever EJ is actually planning comes out, he'll use Mark as his fall guy.

You just know the gala is going to be budget city, but since we know some Hortons are returning for it, I'm not going to care. Bring it on!

Yeah.

I always thinking that it was gonna be revealed that this Andre pretending to be Tony, but now I'm not sure. Plus, I'm starting to find the writing for Tony a little similar to the way that Paula Cwikly wrote him in 2002, long before it was revealed that it was really Andre all along

Agreed. It's not super-consistent with whoever Tony's been since 2019, but it's at least kind of interesting?

I assumed they were reaching all the way back to Sarah’s conception and toddler years.

Evan Whyland was the sperm donor. He tried to wedge himself between Mickey and Maggie. Then Stefano had Evan killed and kidnapped Mickey, which led Maggie to start falling for Don Craig. Don, of course, had been married to Liz, but that marriage was invalidated because Liz never divorced Tony. So yes, Maggie’s ties to the DiMeras run deep. (IIRC, at one point the Dimera mansion was formerly Evan's family home.  One has no idea if that's where they still live.)

Which brings me to Chad and Brady. Why do they get to act superior to Xander and Philip? They’re committed to living off Titan dividends without ever setting foot in the office. Though maybe that’s for the best. Xander’s desk is comically oversized and not exactly built for collaboration.

Still, why not at least float a counter-offer to keep the publishing and fashion divisions? It’s not like Titan’s entire value hinges on shipping and spreadsheets.  This is one of those moments that an 18 month lag bites them in tush.  If I merged with a shipping company prior to the tarriffs, and the shipping company wanted to buy themselves back under these economic conditions, I would let'em have it.  Shipping is not very profitable these days.  But, they wrote this script back when the world was still sane.

And isn’t it rich how the DiMeras and Kiriakises are written as untouchable until one lawsuit sends them into full meltdown mode? I’m waiting for someone (paging Justin) to remind them that the merger was approved by both boards, cleared by the FTC, and the only shred of “fraud” Tony has is an illegally obtained recording. But, Maggie's speech will do.  (I think Titan should pivot and sell what makes Maggie's hair so vibrant).

Today was a bit of a mixed bag.

But poor Julie.

She was having such a nice day, only for Foster to pass out right in front of her. I hope things end up working out for her though. Owning the bookstore is something for her to do and could possibly lead to her being a part of some storylines. But I enjoyed her conversation with Stephanie. I'm glad that she's going to be a part of the gala as well, and that she's going to be the one to bring some Hortons back to Salem.

And it's finally official: Jeremy's coming back. I'm really looking forward to that.

I also enjoyed seeing Theo catch up with Abe and Paulina. He actually works pretty well with the two of them. But I still say that Days needs to establish Theo's darker turn a little bit better. It still seems too sudden and random to me. As for Abe mentoring a young man, I think we finally know who's

Spoiler

Hank Northrop is gonna be playing

The fact that Theo has a past with this guy could lead to something interesting happening. Btw, considering the character's name, is he going to be related to some characters from the 80s?

And yeah, Sophia's a bit of a nut. Throughout the episode, her eyes looked like they were about to pop out of her head. Hopefully, they don't make her a full on psycho though. There's still so much they could do with her character.
