I loved Cliff's sister Linda. I loved the way she terrorized Nina when Heather Stanford played the part.

Yeah, she seemed fun. I saw the epic catfight between Linda and Nina.

I guess that is one positive about Ted, I do enjoy his bond with his nephew. It's great that they could be open and honest with one another.

ITA. Ted has had virtually no interaction with Martin to the point where I forget that they're even related at times. What is Martin's relationship with his dad? How does Martin feel about his marriage being in trouble like his parents' marriage? Has Martin even talked to Nicole about the break-up of his parents' marriage? It's a glaring omission.

No to Vernon as the father.

It's enough that Leslie happens to have an affair with Ted, son in law of Anita who was in the same group as Barbara.

Unless they somehow link that. As it stands it's enough of a soap opera coincidence.

It might have been more interesting if Dani had been the one to have affairs, not Bill. He was channelling his energies into his business and building his power. Maybe Dani was involved with some guy and it got more serious and she decided to leave Bill, only to be dumped. Meanwhile a fed up Bill became involved with Hayley.

And I would like to see Nicole try and rebuild the relationship, rather than go straight to divorce. Yes she would be devastated at first but I think it would be in her nature to be more pragmatic.

That doesn't mean it would be all rosy. Carlton could still be sniffing around etc

Kat wasn't really into Tomas and her pushing to start sleeping together was more to secure her place since she knows he has an attraction to Eva. Ultimately, I feel like she's disappointed in the sex not necessarily because he's bad but because she isn't into him.

Kat rushed into her first time. She's not in love with Tomas, she wanted to stick it to Eva.

I thought it was going to be Dante Green and that's why he convinced the other girls that Barbara wasn't good for the group because he ended up getting her pregnant.

That's a little too Dreamgirls Curtis/Effie for me.

Ted's not fighting for her or their marriage. The other day he tried to tell Anita that h had bc he sent her over some flowers that probably cost him $200. Meanwhile, he's given Leslie $100K. Derek has done more to fight for Ashley than Ted has for his 30+ year marriage. The reveal happened in May and its now Aug. Nicole gave him more than enough time to rectify things but he's been too passive so she needs to move on with hr life

I am in awe and still recovering from today's episode.

But I'm honestly shocked at everyone jumping to Vernon as the father.

As the scenes went down, I immediately said Dante Green as well as SilkPress's father. After all, we only have Anita's perspective on how things went down with Barbara. It seem like Sharon and Tracy were mostly kept out of it. They only knew what Anita knew. And where did Anita get her information from? Dante. Who was the one who kicked Barbara out. He said to her (and them) that Barbara didn't fit. Easily could be a cover story to cover up the fact Barbara and Dante slept together. Barbara might have slept with him to stay in the group.

And speaking of foreshadowing, given what little we know of Dante and none of it nice, I just figured it was not coincidence that the name of Kat and Chels's manager for their business is also Dante. Even waaay back then, I felt that was foreshadowing. Moreso now with this reveal. Or (as an online friend suggested) their Dante could be a Jr. to Real Dante. Which of course would be another twist.

THANK YOU!!! I loved they read him because it's true. I'm not even on his side now and today's episode with his dialogue did not help at all. Can he not see why he's wrong? Jesus.

I’m honestly appalled by this latest development, and if I’m not stopping watching, it’s only because I promised myself I’d give the show a full year before passing final judgment.

Honestly, MVJ is coming across more like a soap hack than a soap fixture like Bill Bell or Agnes Nixon.

The reason people might be turned off by this whole Leslie/Barbara/Vernon fiasco is that it reeks of a last-minute retcon to save Leslie. They’re clearly propping her up—and it’s just not fair.

I don’t care that they gave her a throwaway line about losing her virginity to the Articulettes, or that Anita foreshadowed to Eva that she’d never be a real Dupree. They saw Leslie’s popularity, swept her crimes under the rug, and came up with this unnecessary plot just to keep her relevant.

What I especially dislike is that we all know this will fizzle out like everything else. Sure, the reveal might be mildly exciting—but what about everything in between reveals

I’m still waiting for Nicole to deal with the fact that her parents hid Martin’s truth from her. She was supposed to “pause her anger” for the Articulettes concert, but instead she just forgot all about it and was suddenly Anita’s confidante the very next day.

Too many characters. Too many people connected to the Duprees. Too many male cheaters. Too many aliases. Too many convoluted, desperately overcomplicated plots.

Or they had the Barbara reveal in the chamber for Leslie all along. Which I think is far more likely.

Then they did a really lousy job of portraying Leslie as someone who didn’t know her biological parents and drawing a meaningful parallel with her daughter.

But that takes us away from the main point of the discussion. Barbara being Leslie’s mother isn’t the issue—in fact, it’s actually kind of cool. Vernon being her father, if confirmed, is where the real problem lies.

I do agree that the Barbara reveal was always planned to be the twist to keep Silk Press Sheila in the mix, but I think the show made a miscalculation by actually showing her as the one to run Laura off the run instead of keeping that all off screen.

@Cheap21I don't think Vernon is the father, I just fear that the show might go there in order to provide a 'twist' instead of going the logical route of Dante being the real father.  It sounds as though Dante played a big part in Anita's life in a not so great way so having his daughter SPS/Leslie be a thorn in Anita's life would be interesting.

I think the show does a great job at writing a climax and revealing a secret... it just needs to work on hitting all the beats of the story post climax/secret reveal.

I dont think its a last minute retconned as people called this back in June when we learned about Barbera. There was speculation that Leslie was Barbara's daughter and targeted the Duprees for revenge but her not knowing actually makes more sense. The link to Chicago was also always there.

‘can he not see why he’s wrong.’

well, he could… if the writers wanted him to.

i’ve been saying from the beginning: too much happening too quickly to too many characters. simply not enough time to laid a proper groundwork and aftermath for every story.

and then following up by injecting potassium laura’s. iv. (and where is laura?). all compounded by months of episodes already pre-taped.
