Of course, he blocked comments on  that post, assuring his #PositiveVibesOnly hashtag got only positive vibes from suck up followers who agree with him that social media is filled with "savages."

The truth is much different, however. SOME of social media is vile, tagging actors on highly critical posts about their looks or performance. MANY of us, though, have a lot to say about the quality of the show -- the writing, the sets, the production.

If Jermaine Rivers thinks Y&R is good these days, he doesn't know soaps.

Yeeeah Y&R is far from good. But there be some really crazy people on social media. I felt he probably should have chosen his words if he had to say anything more carefully. 

 

That said I do like some of the discussions being had around it all. It has given me food for thought.

Someone even said, and it's true, that those little old ladies would have been writing in to get his black as* off the show.

There is a point to be made about ignorance on social media -- a big point -- but it's nuts to deny that much of the unhappiness about Y&R is deserved.

JR wasn't careful about the words he chose, and that's the problem. That's why he created an outrage with his post. Blocking comments to that post only made things worse. Thanking those (he allowed to comment) for their "positive vibes" made things worse again.

Soap "journalists" like Michael Fairman function as nothing more than press agents for these actors and for the soaps. Fairman "interviewed" Rivers about this but naturally avoided any mention of how unhappy YR viewers are with the show. He did his usual -- let Rivers talk and then said "So what do you fans think?"

They got these folks in "Nice" lost in the hedge maze from The Shining. Uncle Frank on GH would at least put up a town street with some little flags and baguettes and a mime or something.
