I know it's "just Reddit," but I've seen posts by people who sound very inside that Ed Scott did not leave of his own accord. Those same people say that JFP has been back at Y&R for MONTHS and that she's functioning as line producer -- meaning she has a lot of say over budget, scheduling, etc.

I don't know why Ed Scott would return to Y&R for under 6 months, so that leads me to believe something happened behind the scenes.

Phelps being there would also explain the sets problem getting WORSE over the past few months.

Yeah, so Ed retired because he is LITERALLY 80 years old. But okay then, Reddit. He started at Y&R and wanted to retire while at Y&R. They gave him a specialty title to do so. There is nothing more to it. Sometimes that is the case, and that is the case here.

As for JFP, again, as I said previously, she's not there with any authority. A line producer would have authority.

I know you can only say what you can say but I wonder is there some reason for her being there having to do with the actual show or is this just she needed some credits toward her pension or something? Ever since Steve Kent joined, I've gotten the vibe that Y&R is seen as somewhere to park people who just need a paycheck, and they just keep cutting the production budget to bare bones. I bet there's a lot of bloat they can cut to reinstate the overnight camera crew and other necessities.

Thank you, Errol. People want to make it more than it is. JFP has been working behind the scenes for about a year now on a per diem basis. Only in May did she return full time. She has no story input nor which sets get put up.

I don’t think “people” are making this into anything. When you hear JFP, of all people, is on the payroll again but not in a producing/position of power role, it’s normal to wonder what the hell that’s about.

What expertise does the show need from her that it can’t get from the people already on staff?

First since I did ask given the tea over in the other thread where Ed would fit into it...AHA!

I am happy and saddened at the same time to the swiftness of the reply to my question. However, Ed Scott has been in the business for a loooong time so to a great retirement.

Ed was great! As for JFP she needs to be nowhere near Y&R in any capacity.

Too late! She’s already there. Has been there for awhile.
