Really enjoyed Thursday's episode with just having the vets on.  Just having them sit around and talk about the past and love for John was great way to end this tribute to John/Drake.  

Superficial note: my God, Kristian Alfonso and Missy Reeves were so freakin beautiful back then.  Kristian with the the model looks and Missy with the girl-next-door looks.  Just wow.

Happy (belated) 40th Anniversary, Stephen Nichols!

The Johnsons were the main focus of today and I really enjoyed it. And we got a ghostly appearance from Adrienne too, which was also nice to see. And, at least Days finally remembered the huge part that Adrienne had in Alex's life. That retcon was always so unnecessary.

I like how everything came together for Steve's dinner. It was full of those little sweet, dorky family moments that I always like, especially the trip down memory lane. Steve really has come a long way in 40 years lol and I'm glad that Jada was included in the tribute as well.

And, now that Philip is awake, I'm really interested in seeing what's going to happen in that storyline as well. It could go in so many different directions, especially now that Philip decided to lie about Xander. 

But yeah, Stephanie and Alex definitely need some conflict. Ron's gone lol they don't need to be written as so happy and boring anymore. Stephanie really should have been put back in Philip's orbit. It would've added a really good dynamic to that storyline.

I'll never understand why they dumped Joy when she was pregnant.  There could be years of conflict and story between Phillip/Alex/Joy/Stephanie/Chloe-you could even add Brady to the mix.   I assume the show wanted to bury all evidence of Body & Soul though.  Stephanie writing a bootleg version of 50 Shades of Grey isn't exactly exciting content lol.

This was my era. I remember every flashback. I was never a Bope or Jarlena fan so the last two weeks have not been my thing but today got to me.

Kate is not going to be happy with Philip. Will Sarah believe him? I want to see his next talk with Xander I think he's either contrite about exposing Sarah's lies or hes using this as leverage to keep his position at TitanDimera. Could go either way

I assume Joy will show up at Stephanie and Alex's wedding to drop off the baby on her way to her Hollywood acting gig.

It warms my heart that Body&Soul has basically been erased from existence 😂😂😂

As for Joy, I can’t help but think that there was a change in direction or a rewrite in her story arc, especially with the way the whole Johnny thing was completely dropped. 

Giving her a baby was probably more for RSW than anything else

She had a recent interview where she discussed in some detail that she had a hard time when coming back for her last visit/stint in the late 2010s.. and she realized that because she had been away from acting for so long, that she couldn't control her ability not to over-act. 

She also said she lives 3500 miles away, has animals, and a life that she would have to make arrangements for in order to make appearances on the show.   

So I don't think we'll be seeing her again on DAYS for the foreseeable future.

Joy's entire arc was just odd.  I am sure there were rewrites and then more rewrites.  Because until 2 weeks before she left she was fine with a casual relationship with Alex. 

There is material there though.  Phillip could pretend to be the babies father and Chloe could return and be awfully mad.  Stephanie could suspect it was Alex's and it's the type of drama soaps like.  BABIES!!!

I really do think she has had so many obstacles and just horrible trauma, but I don't hate Days for calling it in 1993?  It sounds insensitive, but Days is still a business and had cast and crew waiting around until Patsy felt okay to deal with the material.

It's all around sad for me because I love Kimberly and Kimberly/Shane so much.  And, PP always over acted and it wouldn't bother me.  She's on the same set as Deidre Hall lol.

I also wonder if maybe Days brisk and fast filming schedule was too much for her when she went back for her last stint in 2016/7... and that's why she has turned down offers for visits since.

I always thought PP was more intense in her acting then her over acting... and I also co sign that Days made the right call in her letting her go in 1992/3 (and she even said she realized by late 1992 that she couldn't do the job that she was hired to do on a long term basis).

The set up for a big Kiriakis family mess was almost perfect, and then it was just ended. 

I do like the mess that we ended up with, but it could be so much messier than what it is right now.

Oh, Patsy never bothered me as an actress.  She fit right into the 80's supercouple Days vibe.  I do think some actors are better built to adapt to the quick filming that Days has now and she might not have been able to keep up.  It's hard for me to find a spot in my mind for a late 90's Kimberly (besides guest appearances).  

But then I can't see where Kayla/Steve would fit in late 90's JER's soap and they work wonderfully now.  

Whatever's best for her.  PP gave me a lot of good memories and she mostly got a happy ending if you don't count the recent cancer stuff for Kim.

I didn't particularly love Joy, but I thought the actress was fine.  I wished for her to come back to Salem for so long and was so disappointed with what I got so I think that's my main issue.  Like bring her back to Salem without Nancy(mostly), Craig or Chloe and have her be on a soap within a soap?  She was basically just a woman Johnny and Alex could use and she could have been any random 25 year old girl not a legacy character.
