If it is fully pre-empted on the East Coast will it be fully pre-empted on the West Coast by default?

Yes most likely given a rerun

In the US they *constantly* break into the soaps for pretty much any news story which is why fans are annoyed. So yeah, it may not be an everyday occurrence but it's a common enough occurrence that people are annoyed. BTG has been on for less than 3 months and has already been broken into many times.

I was going to make the excuse, it's because this Pope is from the US, but the last Pope pre-empted everything too.

Yep that's usually how it works. It's how ABC used to do it with their soaps. If it didn't air more than 30 minutes they considered it a full pre emption and it got pushed back a day

It's bull sh*t given ABC is back to regular programming. Do we really give a crap about Norah ODonnell blathering on?

cbs has always been the worst. when dan rather was the anchor, he was always the first one in and the last one out!

Not once, at least in my area, has Beyond the Gates been interrupted for "news". Nor do I need the history lesson as a decades-long soap watcher. In remembering World Turns versus General Hospital at the 2 p.m. hour, CBS is less likely to interrupt in comparison to ABC. This isn't an interruption of [another] school shooting, the orange monster announcing more things to ruin this country, or weather personnel telling us it is raining outside (when we can see it raining outside); it's the election of a new Pope. That's a major thing, especially for a lot of people who are deep in their faith.

Would I rather my show be on? Yes. But am I going to absolutely lose my damn mind over it? No. I'm not. This is not an everyday occurrence (the election of the Pope). This isn't new, and yet people⏤not just here⏤continue to act as if it is a new thing and that it's the end of the world as they know it. It's not.

Too bad Anne Meacham is no longer living.  Wouldn't it be great to see Louise Goddard appear as Anita and Vernon's housekeeper????

I noticed on Monday that Vernon mentioned someone named Titus, I am assuming he's the driver.

@Soaplovers I threw it out there that perhaps the Hawthorne's needed to be the rival family, I believe it could've helped Naomi/Jacob marriage immensely.

Ugh - on now for me too, but I don't want to watch since I missed the first 18 minutes. Now I'll just watch tonight on Paramount.

finally! no question this was worthy of live coverage. but, how hard would it have been for norah, et all, to have just shut the fuc* up at 2pm and gone back to regular programming — like abc did?
