Will I be Gio's champion? I am so there LOL  I'm happy to know that so many people agree with me about how good his performance was at the NB.

I don't see GM lasting any longer on GH than Nicholas Alexander Chavez did.

Damn, I was struck by Sawandi's "moves."  Rhythm Nation passed him by. At least he got in that head spin when he resorted to break dancing. But P.S. The guy is gorgeous.

-- I understand all the criticism here about the Nurses Ball, and I pretty much agree with all of it. However, I love seeing it, and I miss it when we don't get it.

I love the stuff that's so cheesy and bad that I can't believe I'm watching it, and I love trashing it. It's awesome television to snark at (see: Spinelli in his cowboy boots). Regardless of how slick it is or is supposed to be, it's clear A LOT of work is put into the final product, and I'm grateful when a soap is willing to pull out the stops like this.

-- Haven't seen today's show yet, so stay tuned for more performance reviews LOL

-- In the meantime, here's a decent look backstage at GH....a video improved greatly by the presence of Giovanni Mazza.

Given the cuts being made to treatment and research funding along with RFK Jr's quack theories about HIV/AIDS, it is probably more relevant than in some time, but I know GH is not going to really go there in explaining why (and I'm not sure they could have even back in the day). I guess I should be happy Disney has not decided mention of HIV and AIDS is too "woke" for them.

Great point.  GH will never go there and it's just like we love Robin? And the cure.  It's not a bad cause and it's great to have a cause in these times.  It feels a little dated to me, IMO.

Also, Emma called Sonny "Mr. Corinthos" and not Uncle Sonny and I have never been happier.

Who told Josh Swickard that he could sing?  Dominic Zamprogna's inability to dance is adorable for some reason.

I'd been pretty sure for months that they were going to reveal the big Gio secret during the Nurses' Ball, but the way they did it was pretty spectacular and exceeded my expectations. Good on the writers for not rushing this and instead giving us months worth of scenes that show off Gio's charm and great chemistry with the Qs, which made his devastated reaction today really mean something. Especially on a show with a cast as large as GH, we need time to build an emotional connection with a new character.

I just hope they continue playing all the beats of this storyline for the next few weeks, because this reveal has huge repercussions for a whole bunch of characters and should lead to tons of organic conflict between them. I can't wait to see what Tracy will do when she finds out that Lulu was responsible for this reveal.

YES to all of this! I have seen some fans refer to this as having either low stakes or no stakes & I think the stakes are & have been HUGE!!! I feel so for Gio right now & I'm sure he thinks everyone knows & feels angry, confused & betrayed. The list of people who are going to be mad at Lois is long. The list of people who are going to be mad at Lulu, not as long, but, exists likely. And, Gio did such a good job!! What in the world was Lois thinking would be accomplished by getting Brook Lynn to leave the premises NOW?!!

"Ladies & gentlemen, I'm going to do something I've never done before. I'm going to dedicate this to my parents - Brook Lynn Quartermaine & Dante Falconieri. Two people who didn't want me. They didn't claim me. They gave me away & lied to me my entire life." - Gio Palmieri, GH, 5-22-25

Seriously, are there any rootable characters on this show?

Are the head writers writing the show so we can hate every one of them?

I hate Lulu. The bitch should've stayed in a coma.

Willow still looking dumb as hell.

I can't wait for Nina's secret of sleeping with Drew to come out. I hate her too.

I think there are, they just don't usually get as much of the spotlight. This has long been an issue with GH. It's a little better now than at some points in the past. Lulu at least gets called out for her mess, and Kristina, etc. although in Kristina's case she's just exhausting to watch, and the story is directionless (the biggest issue with the show).

I've always had faith in Mazza so I'm glad that was a bit rewarded. I think he could've been slightly less loud and I did think the whole bit with smashing the violin was a bit much.

While Lulu being both brash and a busybody is 100% in character, I have suspected for some time that making her the well-intentioned but obnoxious heavy opposite Setton/BLQ is not a coincidence on FV's part. Nonetheless, Alexa is great.

For a show that can seem allergic to drama, that was a surprisingly juicy moment, and much as I hate the term, actually very "soapy." It does seem like something where the beats that need to be played out may not be, so the reveal being as dramatic as it was is a great help. I like that Gio is the one who had that reveal, which was an unexpected twist. And the Nurses' Ball being used for drama but not in a way that felt gross (like a sex tape) or inappropriate (like a serial killer). It helps that Gio is easy to care about when used properly, so we feel bad for him and are invested in his reaction.

And it was even in a sweeps period.

I do wonder why this didn't happen on a Friday instead of a Thursday.

Points to Rena Sofer, who was acting for her life in the background.

I'm glad the director remembered that Ned should have some involvement too.

The violin smashing was ridiculous but ridiculous in one of those soap moment ways I could enjoy as an end to a dramatic reveal. (admittedly my expectations are at rock bottom with the show in terms of drama so I do think you're right to point out the OTT nature)

The clash with Lulu and Brook Lyn has potential if they allow Brook Lyn to get dirty.

I thought he did quite a good job. I just think it could've been quieter in delivery. He was far from 2000s Jacob Young though. (And before anyone tries it let's be clear: For years JY did not get better as an actor, he just got much Louder. He only improved further down the road.)

    • I don't think Josh Swickard's voice is horrible or anything, but the show makes it seem like he could just casually take up a singing career if he felt like it because he's that talented.  He's not.  I am not sure he would even be able to be a backup singer on Broadway or in most bands. I thought DZ was the worst of all the dancers, but adorably so.  You could tell this wasn't in DZ's wheelhouse and it was fun.  On the very light-hearted end of the Nurses Ball shindig.  Gio Mazza continues to impress.  What a find.  It's a shame it took the show an entire year to give him any meaty material.  While Joss was off playing spy games on air way too long. The violin smashing was perfectly in character with someone related to Sonny lol.  Nature vs Nurture.  The Corinthos side won.
    • Today was excellent soap. I had no problem with GM’s performance. I watch soaps for big dramatic blowups like that. What a great cliffhanger. God I’m so ready for all of Drew’s misdeeds to come out. He is so damn slimy. Also I hope absolutely no one is there for Willow’s dumb ass when this all blows up. As everyone has pointed out Tracy would never be stupid enough to just leave ketamine sitting in her car. PCPD continues to be complete morons.
    • Well, I'll say this much...I've been gone for months and my first tune in...nice to see FOINE Isaiah as the first image I saw.   And I'm actually impressed by how much Drew is running/scheming/manipulating everything and everyone in sight. Cuz he's teamed up with TRACY now? TRACY??? Who he was slapsticky feuding with months ago. And seems to have a countermove for every person against him now...which now takes up almost all the whole canvas vs just a limited part of it months ago.    He really has risen to...mmmm not quite Stefano Dimera evil...yet...but Mitch Laurence manipulation?? That's quite a leap in three months. Again...impressed.
    •   Josh Swickard has a more than passable voice. His performance of "Smooth Criminal" a few years ago showed he has talent. But damn, this wasn't it. That song (a Swickard original?) was lame and awful, and the accompaniment by 3 non-professional dancers was...a choice. The entire thing was pretty cringe and a big YIKES. As for Dominic Zamprogna, I thought he was the BEST of the 3 dancers. JK and SW were stuck onstage without a net.   -- The Gio reveal was great soap. The Nurses Ball backdrop was the perfect place for that to happen, and reason enough for the NB to exist. I'll take that kind of cliffhanger any day of the week.     Lots of comments here about GM getting too loud and dramatic, but I like the choice, and I think it worked. It played against type. Gio was onstage performing, and he gave us a real performance.      We seem to love all the soap traditions being brought back to life on BTG, but when GH does it with the violin smashing, then it's too much? That scene gave us a moment.   For me, I can put aside how many rootable characters are on a soap when the drama is good -- and I think we're getting good drama. And isn't Gio rootable? Emma? Liz? Dante was rootable until he went on a "Destroy Gio" tour the past couple weeks. Besides, it depends on your definition of "rootable." I think Tracy is rootable even though she is deeply flawed and makes a lot of mistakes.
    • Same. I didn't want to jump in until the writing change, but I got busy. I've been doing other things, but I've been really enjoying DAYS today so far. And grateful my internet is going great. And highlight today was seeing Dr. Marlena Evans for the first time in years. Oh, how I've missed her. Still am not ready for John though. I know I'm going to be a mess.

GH...I was feeling nostalgic for the Nurses Ball and I liked the promo for it. So I figured I can push down my dislike of The Writer Who Shall Not Be Named enough to tune in. For a week at least. lol. It seems like...from the few comments I choose to look at cuz...no spoilers but that one hehe...it is going to be a good but fun event. And let's be real...we know I want to see the Carly slap...looooong time coming.
    • Thurs sees Lily and Damian at GCAC spending an entire episode talking. Nate and Audra at Society talking-but wait Kyle and Claire arrive, so they have someone else to talk to for the entire episode. Amanda at CL talking to Devon and Abby for the entire episode.  The Young in the Restaurants continues...
    • And it also could've played into Dani's characterization as well, with her being the middle child.
    • Awwwwww Gio

The violin smash was a little bit much though  But he blew me away in the rest of his scenes. He played the anger and devastation so well. GM is definitely as talented an actor as he is a musician. In terms of acting, this really was like his first chance to shine and he shined pretty brightly. And on his birthday too no less lol maybe he can be the next Nicholas Chavez. He definitely acted circles around another younger actor, who's subpar AF but is constantly shoved down our throats like she's Meryl Streep  I can't wait for tomorrow to see what happens for him, for Dante/Brook Lynn, for Lois, Lulu, Emma, etc. Hopefully, Lulu gets a slap or a punch, at least. And yeah, can this show stop f*cking mentioning Stone, please? After what they did to Jagger, they have no right to even speak his name anymore
    • I’m doing both as well. I have all of May to catch up on with Days but it’s been so enjoyable post RC I’m actually excited.
