Members GLATWT88 Posted yesterday at 12:03 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 12:03 AM (edited) There will always be extremes. We have those fans that are so blinded or hopeful that they won't say a thing is wrong until it just gets too awful to ignore and then there are those that wanted this project to flop from the moment they heard of it. Personally, there are a few things that I haven't particularly enjoyed or understood about BTG. It started off okay. I was one of the main critics about the premiere not having a bigger moment or cliffhanger to draw people in. We were just introduced to these characters, and while I understand that most episodes of a soap are slow and building up to a bigger moment, this wasn't just a regular Tuesday episode of your favorite soap. It was a premiere and you wanted to leave people wanting to come back. I would be curious to see the daily numbers for the first week and whether or not eyes tapered off as the week went on or if it held steady. I felt these past two weeks haven't been the best. It's taken me much longer to get to the episodes than the first couple of weeks where I was watching daily. For some positives, I think the actresses that play Naomi and Chelsea have already shown so much improvement from the first week. I actually like the young cast. Kat and Eva are so good in their own way. Not going to go on too much about what a non factor Ashley is, because we've all gone in on that poor girl. I will say that Andre's fascination with her has made me find him even less interesting and imo he can go as well. I am still hopeful for this soap, but I'm not going to pretend that things haven't gone wrong either. I hope something big happens during May Sweeps to finally put this soap into action, because the momentum is just way off. Members Maxim Posted yesterday at 12:05 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 12:05 AM I agree 100 percent about this. One thing I want to say about Ashley is that I think if the writing for her improves... the character may be saved. The actress... compared to some of the worst in the cast (Tomas... I am talking about you)... is Meryl Streep. The problem I have is more about the way they are writing her. The character is empty for me.
Members Maxim Posted yesterday at 12:39 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 12:39 AM For some reason I type Rachel every time I think of Ashley. I have no idea why I do this. She's so basic at this point that I just... can't even name her right. Members GLATWT88 Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 01:47 AM I've noticed those P&G prooduct placements lately. Ashley holding that Tide bottle so you can see that label just right.
Members MontyB Posted yesterday at 01:48 AM Members Share Posted yesterday at 01:48 AM (edited) Forgive me. This one went over my head. I haven't watched Days since Patty Weaver was on. Probably before you were born. Edited yesterday at 01:49 AM by MontyB

Members Paul Raven
That was bizarre! I would rather they worked it into the plot. Ted comments they can still smell the remnants of last nights meal. Nicole wisecracks "Hand me the Febreeze!" and goes into spray mode. Ted says she even looks sexy doing housework. (Hate that line, but that's the kind of thing he has been saying).
Members Vanguardian53
Ted and Nicole could've been the Sky and Raven of this show.
Members Paul Raven
When the character outlines were announced I remember commenting that they had a lot of different occupations in play - police officers, lawyer(s)nurse, real estate agents, politicians, firefighters- and wondering how this would all be played eg interaction and sets required. Now we have seen that those occupations are hardly being depicted-no workplaces for Vanessa,Derek, Naomi ,Martin etc Now maybe long term there are plans in place but I question some of these choices. Having Ashley being a nurse when there is no hospital drama- apart from delivering that baby she just stands around with a clipboard chatting-not even referring to patients or cases. I still think they would have been better off giving Vanessa an office and have Ashley and Shanice work there in that field. The characters could be at the office or in other locations eg Country Club which would be natural and allow more interaction. eg Andre could be looking for an apartment, doing photography for Vanessa. Shanice could be commenting on office goings on eg Vanessa's sex life etc Why is Derek a firefighter? So far he has rescued a cat. Why not a cop? He could then be shown working at the station with Jacob and have a level of involvement with that storyline. And Smitty being a housewife all these years. Again, the journalist angle is so far dormant. Instead, have him working part time as a realtor and the conflict with Martin being that he is ready to go full time. Working for Vanessa would have him interact with way more characters. It really is Soap 101 to have characters working together to allow for interaction and save on sets. In other news, Anita needs more airtime-she should have a stake in all the stories and her point of view being shown. Visiting Hayley to educate her about what to expect in a marriage to Bill. I would like her to became a kind of ally to Hayley. Visiting Bill, warning him not to try anything with Hayley. Visiting Smitty and the kids etc. Keeping track of her children/grandchildren. Bossy but benevolent. A mix of Nancy Hughes, Alice Horton and Stephanie Forrester.
