Good thinking! Of course, that's why.

We def want to be naughty! Just sayin' is all. It's not a requirement.

BTW, our Jarly Binges BTG zoom was a huge success. Some hadn't even seen ANY yet. The rest of us were re-watching & talking about what we'd just watched. As we finished I looked at the time & it was closer to 1 than to midnight. But we weren't even tired. Instead I think we were wired.

I'm already pretending I'm in the opening credits - either Lauren Buglioli or Trisha Mann-Grant. I won't settle for anything else but being the town gossip OR the Silkpress Sheila!

I'm sorry if this has been asked many time before, but is there any way to watch this outside of the US? (that is simple and does not require any VPN stuff).

Within Canada, some cable and satellite services have "CHCH" channel, and you can watch BTG on broadcast TV there and record on your recorder.

Outside Canada (and inside Canada)
You can watch the episodes on the live feed from Canada at chch.com.
I found it here:   https://www.chch.com/live/
click on the "WATCH LIVE" button on the website at the time of broadcast.
It works from outside Canada and you don't need VPN.

That's at 2pm New York STANDARD Time through March 7th.
That's at 2pm New York DAYLIGHT Time starting week of March 10th.

Note that Canada/USA go  to Daylight Saving Time March 9, but  Europe goes to Daylight/Summer time March 30, so time difference would be off by one hour for a few weeks.  If that's confusing, go to a reliable timezone converter to check the time differences during the weeks in March.

NOTE, during week of 24 February, sometimes it took a long while for the live feed to start working on the website, so I suggest setting the live page up 30 minutes early.  Click on the page, and give it time to load, so that it's actively giving the live feed by the time BTG starts.

I don't know how to record the live website feed.

I don't know where to legally find the shows recorded outside the USA, unless you have a VPN.
You might be able to watch any recent episodes you missed by going to cbs.com with a VPN, but
cbs.com usually has *only the most recent 5 episodes* of any of their shows.

My question might be stupid...

We know that the 80s soaps were inspired by the glitzy primetime soaps.

90s soaps were inspired by the Spelling soaps abd JER.

After watching a week of BTG, what would you inspired the show storywise and/or aesthetically?

This is so soooo sooo great to have as information. Thank you for compiling it for people who have trouble orienting themselves where and how to watch.

I don't think it reminds me of any of the soaps specifically. It feels like it was inspired by the soap genre through a Black cultural lens. Part of why I feel I can't place it as like a P&G or Bell or Agnes Nixon soap is because you have a Black woman leading the show. Michele's unique perspective and extensive experience is giving us something that feels familiar but new.

I'm going to say something that may be unpopular too... but Dani is as annoying if not more than Hayley. And I'm not saying this as a negative. It's great-annoying. She is just so used to being on top of everyone all the time, it's nice to see her fake world shatter. I know this may be different to a lot of people's impression of her as this "victim" of Bill's. But she lost me with her words to her mother... that it was because this affair was so public and in front of other people... that she cares so much. That's a shallow person right there. Hayley and Dani are alike in so many ways... you are not surprised that once they were friends.

    • Hotel was The Love Boat on land but a little soapier. I will forever maintain that Hotel was a time slot hit. I don't believe that 1983/84 Hotel was a better show than Knots Landing.

    • The timing is strange, though. How far in advance would they normally be on location? The Achille Lauro hijacking was on October 7, 1985. Nancy had arrived in Egypt in the storyline by October 18. But the character of Hawk, Chris' Native American friend from Arizona, had already appeared onscreen by September and brought a letter telling Chris to be in Egypt by October 25th.  Why did they already have the link to Arizona before the reason to cancel the shoot in Egypt?  The dust and the jar it came in were from Egypt though. Nancy bought it there and sent it to Mac as a gift before she came back to the states and followed Chris to Arizona.
    • Actually that is not what happened. Nor is the timing right for it to have been. We learned from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay  in 2006, which can be found on YT, that it was Fred Silverman's idea to do the 90 minute show. I don't know how much you know about him but he had these amazing successes as head of daytime at both ABC & at CBS. Then he came to NBC where basically everything he touched turned NOT TO GOLD but to shite. Some of the most expensive shows ever produced up to that time were huge flops. Although even he, like a broken clock, could be right on occasion. However, as we know, he was not right about the 90 minute show. As a matter of fact, afterward,  NBC programmers, who worked FOR him, were asked why they did it & they were quoted as saying it was because they couldn't think of anything else to try. It was a stupid idea from a man who had reached the point where he was throwing anything at the wall to see if it would stick.

    • I stopped watching Another World in 1990. Simply, lost interest in the show.  I had watched the show from 1973 to 1990. The 90 minute show started the decline of AW.  NBC panicked with expanding AW due to the GH hoopla. As mentioned above, 1982 was a trainwreck for AW.  The introduction of the Shea family, the movie storyline involving Jamie, and Steve Frame favoring Rachel over Alice. The writers went into that direction due to the forgettable performance of Linda Borgeson.

    • Ive seen that theory thrown out but the one thing against it is that Leslie and her family lived in Chicago. She only came back to DC last year after her husband died. Unless they say Alan made a trip to DC and died while away, she wouldnt know about that. However I do think the angle of her finding out that Martin was involved could work as that gives her leverage against Bill too for covering it up. She'd want to get revenge on him by threatening to have him disbarred
    • What a good write-up @Errol! Nice seeing the nod to Duplaix's lead.
    • The Egypt location shoot was cancelled because of the Achille Lauro cruise ship hijacking
