P&G has long had some of the longest standing and most liberal policies for its LGBTQIA+ employees in corporate America. That’s often been a source of conservative bigots and political groups calling for boycotts of their products as well. Those why try to claim otherwise are severely misinformed and have another agenda going on.

As a NBC fan and a P&G fan, the only bigotry I was aware of during a very BRIEF time BITD came from NBC not P&G. Offered FWIW. Unless people are

thinking about the really lousy thing P&G did to Pete Lemay or the firing of the first Scott Eldridge actor.

My bad in that I confused her backstory with Kat. With that said, I wouldnt have found it odd if she introduced him as her cousin. Its not that uncommon especially if they all grew up together. I know i have a few cousins of cousins that are very close to my age that I consider cousins

On CBS alone, the show averaged a little over 2 million viewers over three days, finishing in a virtual tie with ABC’s General Hospital. It also beat out the long-running ABC series in key demographics, including adults and women 25-54. Streaming added another 272,000 viewers to Beyond the Gates‘ average for the opening week. About 5.2 million people watched at least a few minutes of the show.

More than half of the Beyond the Gates audience — 55 percent — for its premiere week was made up of Black viewers. That compares to 30 percent for CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful, 29 percent for The Young and the Restless and 22 percent for General Hospital.

I know we are all on Brandon Clayborn's case, but THAT GUY....no, ma'am.

Well two entitled if you count Kat.

I find it interesting since Nicole herself does not come across entitled.

Now you leave him and Victor Webster alone.

You don't have to see it. More for me.

They really can't. God bless them for that because they are hot.

I really liked yesterday's episode. I felt there were so many layers going on with all the characters and storylines that it was just such a feast for the eyes. And I liked that while Dani was in the episode, it felt like she was the C plot to the B plot and other C plots being the focus.

I like that we are continuing to get some to see conflict with our gay couple. But lord, Martin is a complete and utter a$$hat. With that said, I just found it interesting how entitled and selfish he came across and the same could be said about Kat...though she's totally right about Eva. One can't help but side-eye Nicole a little bit who doesn't seem that way. Nor does Ted. Commentary on how when your black family make it easier on the next generation, the next generation is ungrateful. Time will tell. In any case, I loved that Smitty stood up for himself. As someone who have seen gay couples like that in the South (just flip the races), it resonated with me.

I continued to like the Kat stuff. I did love that Chelesa called her out on how she acts with other people, going back to what I said about coming across entitled. I mean girl came for Eva's clothes on sight. And now she has walked in on Eva in the wrong place, wrong time. Add on her coming for Eva earlier in the episode, Kat vs Eva is giving for me.

Now about Dani vs Hayley...lol. That also gave. Dani read her good and KM played that to the hilt while being softer. Because 'woman to woman, i'll settle for you' oooo that was soooo nice nasty good and well performed. And look at them starting to have more and more in common, too. Bill wants Hayley to immediately stop working...just like DANI. The ladies come to a truce. And who wants to keep it going...BILL at the end of the episode. Why? He can't let go. I loved M. Goins has been adding grit and backbone to Hayley's character since Monday making the character more of a inner strength (not weak either) character when people come for her.

Then Andre/Dani...mmmmm. I love how unexpected that ending was. It seem like Dani was not even going to sleep with him again. And both of them went off to their own storylines during the episode. Only...to come back together at the end. Loved it.

Nice cliffhangers at the end, too. Kat caught Eva. Bill is planning something. Chelesa getting it on with a couple while her mother is getting it on on some glass...good times.

I would say since Monday, but it does seem to be heading that way.

Yeah, I was happy for him and to see conflict for our gay couple.

I was talking about Nosy Nurse. My favorite side character so far. And also was talking about how Andre is so into Dani that it's nice to see.

Thank you for this!  LOL.  I'm slightly hearing-impaired, and I rely on closed captioning.  I had to replay that section from Thurs March 6 --
replaying this morning Friday on ParamountPlus, and was like what? Then I remembered I had read your post earlier, something about closed captioning and pig and leather.  So I searched for your post and found it.  Now the scene makes sense!

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
    • I'm glad a lot of people are continuing to enjoy this show.

I haven't posted in a few weeks and have some catching up to do. But I did manage to look at the last two episodes after hearing about how good they were. I really enjoyed them. My thoughts on them: The affair/secret child reveal was very good. TMG was really good as Leslie, her whole confrontation with Ted/revealing all to the Duprees was very entertaining. I continue to love AM/Eva. She my top two favorites on the show (along with Nicole). I have a lot of sympathy for Eva and how she was conflicted/ultimately felt guilty about publicly revealing the truth to everyone. I wonder what will happen to her next, especially if she does go and live with the Doctor that is friends with Ted and Nicole. I lol'ed at how Martin/Smitty jumped up and grabbed Leslie when Eva was calling her crazy. The way they did that was funny to me. I haven't liked many of Martin's actions/his attitude especially regarding Smitty/his children, but I think it was interesting how he wanted to check Ted for his actions. And also wanted Bill to be questioned/confronted about his as well. I haven't been the biggest fan of the character of Andre, but I appreciated his calm and measured approach after the reveal and how he talked with Eva. I thought it was interesting that he knew about the affair and convinced Ted not to tell Nicole. Speaking of Nicole, I continue to love her character and view her as the heart of this show/Dupree family. I am interested in seeing where her journey goes as a character after this reveal. I'm looking forward to her leaning on Dani and (also Anita/Vernon, etc...) for a change.
