According to who?

In soap operas... and in fiction... people can get their own impressions. That is mine. Maybe I'm limited to the fact that I've seen only year and a half of AMC and in 1988 and 1989... that's how their relationship is. Every time Erica is in the clouds or lying to herself or others... Mona has been the one bringing her back to reality.

Sorry if I'm not the huge soap opera expert as you guys. I'm speaking from my own impressions.

No I get that. I just disagree. They can’t be the Erica and Mona dynamic of this show bc they fundamentally are not the same characters. Erica was almost always wrong and Mona served as a conscience of sorts. I think Anita shares some blame and also needs to be dragged and told about herself. At her core, Mona was a good loving mother but I don’t think Anita is. When we learn more, I would not be surprised if she actually was a horrible mother. Shes already acting like  one . The fact that her first response is to scold and tell Dani how much shame she brought to the family instead of being consented that her daughter needs real help bc she is suffering partially bc of Anita herself is telling. Anita is too selfish and prideful to take accountability for setting up the scenario which triggered Dani in the first place. Mona would never

that’s why Anita screams Stephanie to me with her need to control everything even at the expense of the loved ones around her

Maybe you are right... we'll see. So far I'm getting the opposite vibe from Anita (maybe she is fooling me, who knows) and I think she is and was a loving mother... that's just my impression... Here we differ. A lot. I think Dani was spoiled rotten by her father. I think her mother is trying to get her to be more responsible, but it's not enough, when Dani knows she has other enablers... close.

And about that Mona... Erica thing that is developing... well... I didn't mean to compare directly Mona and Erica to Anita and Dani. I was talking about a dynamic I saw and compared it to a show I'm currently watching. AMC 1989.

But I appreciate all of your comments and I think these diverse in opinion comments make the world go round... I mean no harm when I share my impressions and I hope I don't annoy people when I say things. I am no expert. And I'm proud to say this. I am just enjoying the show as it goes.

That mother/daughter trope Agnes Nixon used several times. I call iit the troublesome daughter & the put upon mother. Ada & Rachel, too. And BTW your interpretation is as good as anyone else's!! KaMo herself said she was using  Erica.

Another great episode and hell yes to it not being a dream. The fallout is gonna be just as great as the drama at the wedding.

I thought the transitions and cuts to commercials were so smooth today. Last week they were a little clunky.

I seem to be the only who heard that Ted said he was a twin and now I'm doubting myself lol.

Leslie is most definitely feeding Eva her events of what happened. The question is what's truth and what isn't.  Speaking of Mrs Leslie is thicka than a snicka. Yes indeed.

Tamara was great in her smackdown of Dani, but really they have themselves to blame. Dani was headed to Paris, but their secret is gonna do more harm than good. Lucky for us as viewers though.

Little miss messy nurse is a great side character lol. I wonder if they plan to integrate her more into the show.

Ashley/Andre scenes were ok. It showed that she's a capable nurse , but they're gonna have to do a lot more to make us care about her and Derek.

    • So Sonni would have somebody to talk to who she wasn't conspiring with (Will or Alan)? Alex kept telling Sonni how important her friends were...when she had virtually no friends. Instead they created loyal servants like Jane and Vera to give Alex people to play off of. They did that with Iris on AW, but Vivien was mostly there for comic relief Alex keeping Marah's paternity a secret was absurd. But I still love the scene between Alex and Alan where he convinces her by reminding her how they protected each other from their abusive father. Chris and Bev ATE that scene. Unfortunately, that took place only a few months before he exited the show...always thought they could have built on that, explored more how being Brandon's children screwed them both up. Maybe even used it as an explanation for the way their relationship could constantly swing from hatred to love. Instead of it being merely dictated by the plot.
    • The first one is Cass Winthrop dressed as Krystle Lake on Another World (not from his original creation of the character to hide from the loan shark Tony the Tuna, but at a romance convention trying to find out what had happened to Felicia who was missing). The second one is also Another World, Jake McKinnon as Doris although I don't recall what his purpose was.
    • I know there was one brief scene in the summer of 1989 where Lillian did mention Calla.. but in relation to her past relationship to Ross and it was to Roger while he was a patient at Cedars.  I think he was trying to pump her for information on Ross.. and for some reason, Calla's name came up.   I could see perhaps Beth mentioning that her mother Lillian was visiting Calla.. but not exactly giving any sort of details as to the going ons in Calla's life off screen.

    • They're neither great nor terrible AFAIK, but it is more a question of the streaming numbers in this day and age vs. actual TV airings. The Chibnall era reminded me much more of the crisis years, but I do think it's a very real possibility now as well due to the streaming bubble collapse affecting the show and its prospects.
    • ANYTHING to get her off the screen..she COULD have been interesting if she and Van had a few face offs..(there was a mild one of her going back to work...but I wanted something meatier "Bitch, I am Vanessa Chamberlain and I don't take advice from someone who followed the..career path you did!" I did like Alex's outright disdain for her.
    • Thanks @Vee for the commentary.    I haven’t even watched this season yet after  I couldn’t get past the couple episodes last season…like it was too Disneyified for my taste, although I did think it was a least better than the Chibnall era (but so is a lot of things). I’ll probably go back and binge it now. Hoping this season ends on a high note. I did read the ratings are terrible. As it stands I’m beginning to feel like what long time DW fans felt with S26 in 1989.
    • Yes, they are all on contract. Next.
    • I also never understood Alex's friendship with Sonni or keeping the secret of Marah's paternity.  Not exactly heartbroken about Ms. Sally being ushered to the Hereafter.
