It was rape.  Not 'slept with'

https://rainn.org/articles/sexual-assault
"What is force?
Force doesn’t always refer to physical pressure. Perpetrators may use emotional coercion, psychological force, or manipulation to coerce a victim into non-consensual sex. Some perpetrators will use threats to force a victim to comply, such as threatening to hurt the victim or their family or other intimidation tactics."

In this case, it was a threat to Lucas by intentionally allowing him to die if she didn't comply.

OMG!  I am not arguing if Sami was raped or not.  I know she was.  I have never said it was consensual.  I was just saying how it was presented at Lucas/Sami's wedding.  A photo or video came out and it looked like she slept with EJ willingly.  Sami told Lucas the truth immediately.

I don't need a PSA on sexual assault.   Thanks though.

Correct.  I think this is the first time that the show finally saying it was rape because I don't remember it being discussed, on the show, as a rape.   I remember having arguments with some people on this board who said it wasn't rape.  Even years later, whenever someone mentioned this situation, people were still saying it wasn't rape.   As for what's happening now, I just wish Allie, Sami, and Lucas were on the show to properly deal with this sensitive issue.  I also didn't like how Johnny was told in the middle of the pub.  I know sets are limited but they couldn't figure out a better way for Johnny to find out?  And I don't think Ron Carlivati was the right writer to write this story.

I actually have no problems with Johnny not knowing or having asked too much about his conception. I mean, I would've just assumed she was with Lucas and had an affair with EJ, especially as she went on to marry him. I probably wouldn't have been too inclined to think about the practicalities of it either. I also don't have an issue with there being an unspoken / off screen "pact" with the adults. Again, that would've been Sami's place to tell him and Allie.

That's because James Scott was hot, let's be real. It's the same issue that always comes up with soap opera rapists - often TPTB wants to cast a nice "hot" hunk to play the part to make a point, but then the audience takes to said hunk and they feel pressured to either retcon, redeem them or ignore it. Just look at how some wanted Charlie to stay because they thought Mike Manning was hot. Or of course the horrible example of Ben, the reformed serial killer of women.

Soaps in general need to get better at sticking to their guns and not let audience popularity sway them in these cases.

Today was good, but not as good as Thursday and Friday. The B and C plots kinda dragged it down. The ending was a little lousy too. Why would you end the episode with Rafe/Jada rather than EJ/Johnny or Johnny/Chanel?

And yeah, Brady’s still a little bitch. But his and Belle’s scenes improved once they started talking about her and EJ. They have such a good sibling relationship.

I expected the Johnny/EJ scenes to be the best part of today and thankfully, I was right. What stood out to me the most was the dialogue. They hit a lot of good character beats in regards to EJ’s relationship with Stefano and the father/son dynamic between them and between EJ and Johnny, the Dimera family legacy, Johnny’s existence and the crime of rape in general. It continued to be so mature and sophisticated, like last week. And handled with a lot more care and sensitivity than Days usually does. It didn’t feel rushed but I wish it had gone on a little longer.

I was also really impressed by EJ/Dan Feuerriegel. By the way he played it today, you could tell that EJ is remorseful over everything that happened. He might even have an Emmy reel ready. If he’s capable of such good work like this, why do they so often write EJ like such a campy clown? It’s not necessary, and today proved that even more. Carson Boatman did a really good job again as well. Too bad Johnny didn’t f*ck EJ up though.

All in all, I hope this plays out for a long time and that Johnny doesn’t forgive EJ right away. Now, that this secret is out, so many things could happen as a result of it.

Or in Days’ case, need to rein in their head writer

I always perk up when  you post like a fan in a show thread. Today you do not disappoint. I was also previously mentioning people that I really strongly wish had been present for this. I only had one more that you don't have & that would be Nicole because she was such a good friend to Allie BITD. I think probably there would be near universal agreement with your statement about Carlivati, also. Just not a good fit.

Some people had speculated that since things seemed quite different, then perhaps the new writers had made some adjustments or tweaked things. To that end Jamey posted on Twi/X Saturday saying no that this is all Ron.

Good episode today.

Raven Bowens and Dan Feuerriegel did some good acting today.

Carson Boatman did okay.

This story should have been what spiraled Johnny out of control and had him doing DiMera deeds and sleeping around on Chanel. There are a lot of things story-wise that can be done with Johnny and EJ.

I see all the guns today are foreshadowing what's about to happen.

By the way, I loved Melinda and Ava's scenes today too.

The Days Facebook page under comments is a real eye opener.  Women were hot and heavy over Ben and Ciara.. and the amount of angry emojis I would receive when I pointed out that Ben was a serial killer and not understanding why they were gun ho over a character like him.

I'm awaiting the last week of April since that's when the new regimes material starts airing so I suspect maybe the episodes from the week or before that might have tweaks to them.

    • The bit with the scarf reminds me of the fabled stuffed animal scene with Rick and Phillip. (That wasn't debunked, was it?)
    • Ohh, interesting. I instantly gravitated towards her in that episode. Of course I'm already hooked and want to know why she was trying to poison that older lady, but then how did the older lady know to switch the mugs so Susan drank her own poison...  but I have too many timelines I'm watching right now haha.  Oh, Bolger is definitely hot. I didn't realize he was on GL haha. I knew him from OLTL and other primetime stuff.
    • This is a effin shame. Eff Trump and eff the bastards that enable him.
    • I 100% agree but I think this is due to how the show is structured. It's a one family show which means there are no people in her age range that could be used as friends or contemporaries of her. The show definitely needs a second main family. I am glad someone finally said this. Especially now that the cast is gelling in their roles, he stands out like a sore thumb. No energy, no chemistry with anybody. He is just there.  I thought that was odd as well! The previous scene would've worked better as a tag for the credits.
    • That's the one and only Carrie Nye (Mrs. Dick Cavett) as Susan Piper, a deadly realtor. I don't want to spoil a lot if you ever want to see those episodes. She returns as another character in 2003. I think Grant has aged well and he always did a good job at being ripped without going too far, but he was never entirely my cup of tea either. I did think John Bolger was hot.
    • Totally agree. KKL looks great! It makes the Widge groveling so bizarre. Brooke needs to leave FC and with $B's/Liam's funding launch a rival fashion house with Hope, Rick, Katie and a secret designer. The best scenario is that Rick has been absent because he's been with very much alive C2, who is revealed on the runway as the secret designer. It'll never happen because B&B is comfortable just focusing on FC and the Forresters Marones v. Logans. But it'd been so much more interesting if the Spencers/Logans united.

    • Haha that scarf thing did go on a bit too long, very odd. And what a young Rick!  I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I just never got the physical appeal of Grant Aleksander, but he's definitely a great actor. Who is the older lady around the 8:30 mark, and also ends the episode, alone and in pain? She seems like a really interesting character. I love the smoky voice and sultry, snaky vibe she seems to have.
    • I can't remember exactly but I think she lives in or is part of the cottage story with Carrie. Carrie poisons her in this episode.  I forgot Teresa was on the show. (I see that AI is insisting she wasn't - well they're wrong) Poor Maeve. I can how even she had her limits.
    • It pisses me off that the other Duprees are making this incident all about them as well. They are playing a family of victims, acting as if Ted cheated on all of them. They should be supportive, but not like this. I have a family that makes anything that happens to me personally all about them, and seeing the same thing on TV is rage-inducing.
